Belarussian Nadia Banaszek is eager for the start of the FWTT event in Helsinki. The young Belarussian is seeded eighth for the event, and faces wild card Samantha Kraston in the opening round.
''I really can't wait to play, clay is my favorite surface but so far my results on it have been well below par. But it was very tough to try and back up after a extroadinary Wimbledon performance (where she reached the Quarter Finals as a qualifier) So naturally I was going to have a down period afterward, but hopefully I have past that phase and can return to playing Tennis that I know I am capable of.''

Banaszek will be playing doubles with new found friend, Rachel-Anne Fleischmann of Germany.
''It's really good to play with someone that has alot of experience at this level. She always gives you pointers about your game, tactics, etc which helps out on court and gives you a confidence boost.
We played doubles together last week in Sopot, and we reached the Semi Finals which was really impressive considering we have never played or even met before.''

i´m a bit sad about my draw, i´m finally seeded in a tournament and then i got the strongest player i could get.
i lost last week to her, and she played very great match,
she is on a good run, and it will be hard for me to beat her this time.

Q: It was very tight, she had several matchpoints in the third set, what pulled you through?

A: It was really tough out there. It was pretty hot and she was just getting everything I hit back so I mean, I had to dig deep. Like you said, she had a few chances in the third to take the match but you know, I hit big shots on those points and I won them. I just think that when it got really close, I stayed true to my game. She probably didn't believe as much.

Q: What do you think of her?

A: She's terrific, on and off the court. She won a few matches this week already so I knew she would be very tough and she was. She played a good match

Q: You two are playing doubles together. Is that fun?

A: Yes. We just beat the top seeds so that was an excellent win for us. Hopefully we can keep going.

German hope Rachel-Anne Fleischmann defeat Rossie Ribbons by the score of 7:6(4) 1:6 6:2 and took revange for her last week defeat as she lost to Ribbons in straight set.
Fleischmann is seeded as #7 and will face now a LuckyLoser
Fleischmann stated

" i´m very happy about this win today, i hope i can use my good draw now"

Fleischmann is the last remaining seeded player in the Bottom Half of the Draw.

Anabel claims 1st title of the season

Anabel Conde-Martinez has won her 1st title of the season by defeating Hedviga Svetikova 2-6 7-6(2) 6-3. This is the 3rd title for Anabel's career, who also won Vienna and Madrid last year.

"Well i feel really happy. Things are not going as i would like this season, so this titles is very important for me. Im trying to keep my ranking up and this will help me a lot. I will travell now to North America where i hope i can continue the good results"
