View Full Version : Life Lessons Learned

Just a few things that I have learned on the road to happiness

1) "Only A Fool Is Never Afraid, A Wise Man Knows When To Be Afraid, A Brave Man Overcomes His Fears To Do The Right Thing"
Actually, this is pretty self explainitory. It is healthy to know some fear in your life, but never let it stop you from doing the right thing.

2) "If You Want Peoples Respect, Be The Kind Of Person You Can Respect"
Think about it. What are the traits you admire/respect in other people? Develop those traits for yourself. Yes, it may require some effort/work on your part, but it is worth the effort.

3) "There Is No Substitute For Quality"
I am not talking about the goods/services that you buy, but it does apply there as well. I am speaking about being the best "Quality" person you can be, and surronding your self with quality people.

4) "Integrity, Integrity, Integrity"
A Very Important Trait and absolutley a requirment for "Quality". If you have no integrity you have nothing. No respect, even for yourself. Let your word mean something good. Let people be glad to know you.

5) "If You Don't Stand For Something, You'll Fall For Anything"
Don't be afraid to stand up for your beliefs. But be prepared to defend them. That means do your homework!!! Why Do You Believe what you believe? Don't be wishy washy.

6) "Don't Be A People Pleaser"
This sounds silly, but it is a truth. A people pleaser will say or do things to make others happy or to fit in. It's like situational ethics, what you say or do depends on who you are with. Does a person like that really stand for anything?

7) "Always Respect Others Beliefs"
There are always people that hane different beliefs, ideas, lifestyles. Just because they are different from what you believe, does not make them wrong.

8) "Life Is A Learning Experience"
You might have a good formal education, you might be smart, but you don't know everything. There is much you can learn from people, especially those with different beliefs. Do not be afraid to listen.

9) "Do Not Be Afraid Of Intamicy"
No, I am not talking about sex here. I am talking about something on an emotional lkevel. Share your thoughts, your hopes, your dreams, your fears with the people you care about. Let them in. Develop relationships. You cannot get through life alone

10) "Tags/Labels Are Wrong"
For instance, one can label me a conservative Republican. And whether you like that or not depends on your interpetation on what that is. But that is your perspective, not mine. I might be, and likely am a much different person than what you think of that tag. So, just beacause someone describes themselves as something you don't like, they may be very different than what you think. I guess it comes down to a question of whether you are rushing to judgement based on a stereotype or reality! A for instance is that I fully support gay rights/marriage. Now, how does that fit into your definition of a reuplican/conservative?

How about:
"Live With No Regrets"?

How about:
"Live With No Regrets"?Well, the truth is that most of my regrets surround things I have not done. But I did not want to give my disciples too much to digest at once! ;)

Well, yeah, most of my regrets are that I've NOT done something when the opportunity arose.

number three is soooo true

i have a friend that has a million friends and all she does is bitch about them. its constant drama with them always and she always comes running back to me. meanwhile, i have a few extremely close friends, and rarely have anything to bitch about regarding them. i dont need to have tons of friends to feel loved.

Very true. I have many acquaintances and few friends... but I never feel bothered that I don't have my phone ringing off the hook and 5 groups of people to choose between every time I want to go. I like it simple ;)

11) "Show Gratitude"

No one gets through life alone. There is always someone there giving us a hand. Be gracious for the help.

12) "Read The Bible"

Even if you are a non-believer, there is a great many life lessons there that are as applicable today as when they were written. Don't be afraid to use them.

13) "The Lone Wolf Is Lonely And Miserable"

This one again deals with no one getting through kife alone. You can try it, but you will only be lonely and miserable. Don't white knuckle life, develop healthy relationships and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. You will need it!

14) "Don't Be Afraid To Admit Mistakes Or That You Don't Have All The Answers.

Some peoples pride gets in the way of doing this, they think that admitting mistakes or that they don't know the answer will make them look weak or vulnerable. This is wrong, it just makes you look foolish. None of us have all the answers, myself included. And if you aren't making mistakes, it just means that you aren't trying!

i agree although to that i'd add, "don't begrudge someone else their helping hand just becaues that hand isn't helping you as well. everybody gets their help in different ways some more recognizeable than others."

life has also shown me that it's much easier to give advice than to follow it.:)
