I think she's got a great shot to do well at Aus iv put some vcash on her ;), iv become a bit of a mini fan over the last few months im just starting to really admire her game esp her FH and serve. I have some of Nicole - Kuznetsova from Wimbledon 05 to upload it sometime if people want, Nicole was unlucky not to have won this match in straights

Hi,lenavee :wavey:

Nicole is very unlucky for the draw,That's true.Hope this time,It will the contrary.I just don't hope Nadia,That's always a bad-ending when she faces her.

I will be grateful if you upload some matchs of Nicole.I'm always curious to see the how Nicole has improved through the years. And the match against Kuznetsova was the first time I watched her on Tv.

Ugh.

I hate that US Open loss to Jankovic and the Zurich loss to Golovin.

Those two losses urk me the most.

I really thought Nicole was going far at the US Open.

And about the Golovin match, I thought she'd win easily. :tape:

I'd really like to see Nicole level the H2H at 1-1 and take charge from then on.

From Matthew Cronin...

Love and love as the new year starts
2007 predictions, Hopman Cup starts season

There are those who think I'm too down on Nicole Vaidisova, but I'm really not. Like Hingis, I think she's too stubborn, but she's very young and should be able to grow up and see the error of her ways. As mature as she can seem off court, she often plays too immaturely on court and doesn't even realize when she's tanking. But you cannot gift that size, strength and groundstrokes. She has huge weapons and is very ambitious. With some better coaching from her step dad, Top 5 is assured.

i think clay was a good pick. if its on clay then nicole can destroy hantuchova. indoors would be alot tougher, hantuchova can play very well on that surface, nicole should still win, obviously, but it would be alot tougher of a match. as for the rest of the team, i think clay is a good choice, they would measure up well against cibulkova and the others. :)

I think it is a good shedule so far.She doesn't want to play much but play great tennis against top players right now as she decided to go to the top slowly, you can see her improvement and how she planed her schedule since 2005 (tiers 3 and 4) 2006 (tiers 2 and one and some tiers 3).Now,in 2007,she has to fight against the best of the game if she wants to beat her and be confident.Doha is too far from Europe (yea, not so much but) and she knew she will be tired after this Ao.Tokyo isn't the right choice, but Paris comes at the perfect time and she doesn't have to do so much travel.Especially when you see who's coming,it will be tough but a good test for her.:)

I desagree with some of her choice last year, but here,I find it interesting.

I just wish she would have entered 1 more tournament before Indian Wells. If she's playing Paris, why not go on and play Antwerp?

Nicole will go into Indian Wells not having played in like 4 weeks... But maybe the break will be good since it seems she's gonna be playing mostly Tier I tournaments in the coming months (IW, Miami, Charleston, Berlin/Rome).

I hope Nicole can start to stay more composed vs. the top players.

I think entering Paris and Antwerp would put a little too much pressure on Nicole.

She knows that any good result from now until late May will help her gain points. If she plays too many tournaments, she will be putting too much pressure on her to rise up the rankings faster and gain points.

Well Elena failed to defend her title, so she is only 200pts ahead of Nicole at #8.

She has points from Paris, Antwerp, and Indian Wells that will be coming off - whereas Nicole has nothing. So maybe Nicole can reach #8 in the rankings in the coming weeks. :)

Vaidisova and Jankovic enter Family Circle Cup
Seven of the Top Ten Players in the World to Compete in Premier Charleston Event

The 2007 Family Circle Cup continues to attract the top ranked players on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour as World No. 9 Nicole Vaidisova and World No. 10 Jelena Jankovic have officially entered the Charleston event. With the addition of these two premier players, this year’s Family Circle Cup player field now boasts seven of the top ten players in the world including No. 1 Maria Sharapova, No. 2 Justine Henin, No. 3 Amélie Mauresmo, No. 5 Svetlana Kuznetsova, and No. 6 Martina Hingis. Celebrating over three decades in women’s professional tennis, the Family Circle Cup is scheduled for April 7th - 15th, 2007 at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina.

“Nicole and Jelena are two players who represent the youthful and talented depth that exists at the top level of women’s professional tennis today,” commented Robin Reynolds, Family Circle Cup Tournament Director. “They are the driving force behind the next generation of stars, and we’re very glad to have them back in Charleston competing against the other top players in the world.”

Nicole Vaidisova’s Family Circle Cup debut in 2005 was a memorable one. She came into the tournament ranked No. 47 in the world. She upset the No. 3 seed Anastasia Myskina en route to the quarterfinal round, marking her career-first Top 10 victory. At only seventeen years old with over $1.5 million in career earnings, Nicole has already claimed six Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles titles, and finished the 2006 season ranked as the World No. 10 player after peaking at No. 9 in August of that year. Nicole was born in Germany where she resided until traveling to Florida to train at the Bollettieri Academy, and currently resides in Prague, Czech Republic.

Rankings:

8 Elena Dementieva 1869
9 Nicole Vaidisova 1742
10 Jelena Jankovic 1626
11 Anna Tchakvetadze 1595
12 Dinara Safina 1569

Elena will have 228 pts coming off from IW. Dinara reached QF, Anna C reached R16 last year. Jelena though will probably continue rising since she's playing Dubai, Doha, and IW and still has nothing to defend. :o But Nicole really needs to make it far at both IW and Miami, no early losses please...

Real Estate Transactions

Real estate transactions recorded at the Manatee County Courthouse:

$2,150,000 Schlarb Corp to Kodatova, Riana Vaidisova Tr, Diamond 8 Trust, L18 Esplanade On The Bay, O.R. Book 02183 Page 7654, Feb. 5.

So it seems that they bought a new house in Bradenton...?

Here's a house I found in the same neighborhood:

Esplanade on the bay, Manatee, Bradenton

This home offers a very rare opportunity to live inside a gated waterfront community, nestled inside the heart of El Conquistador Golf & Country Club. Within one minute of world-class tennis at IMG Academy. Excellent shopping, top private schools, and several marinas are all just minutes away. Exquisite Views Of Sarasota Bay from almost every room!

Didn't know her parents have that much money themselves.

I don't even think Nicky has that much since p.e a player only gets about 60% of the price money they actually win. And I don't think Nicky has earned that much with p.e advertising yet.

From a recent Lucie Safarova interview :-

How about your relationship with your compatriot Nicole Vaidisova?
Well, it's ok, normal but we are not real friends. Each of us lives in different place, has totally different habits and we meet each other practically only during tournaments we play. Also we are rather different personalities, Nicole has that american spark in herself.

Freestyle Forever!; Reebok Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of One of the Most Successful Women’s Footwear Collections of All Time -- the Freestyle

Brand Commemorates 25 Years of Timeless Fashion with Special 25th Anniversary Freestyle Series Debuting at Star-Studded Event March 1, 2007 in NYC

An iconic “must-have” of the 1980’s pop culture scene, the Reebok Freestyle will forever go down in history as the athletic shoe that changed the face of women’s fitness. Twenty-five years later, the Reebok Freestyle remains one of the best selling shoes of all time. To commemorate the 25th anniversary, Reebok kicks off “Freestyle Forever,” an exclusive event to launch the new 25th Anniversary Freestyle Collection and to celebrate the brightest moments in Freestyle history, both then and now. The star-studded, invite-only, celebration takes place on March 1st in New York City.

Debuting with the 25 Candles Freestyle to commemorate the exciting 25th birthday, the 2007 Freestyle collection will also feature six limited-edition Freestyles varying from authentic bringbacks to modern-day artist collaborations. Beginning in March 2007, the footwear will be available on www.rbk.com and at select boutiques around the world for a suggested price range of $65-$150.

“Reebok is passionate about debuting the 25th Anniversary Freestyle Collection because the shoe represents our history as the brand that pioneered the women’s fitness movement and started the high-top fashion trend,” said Reebok’s Chief Marketing Officer, Uli Becker. “Today, fashion is about freedom of expression and keeping it real. Back in the ‘80s, the Freestyle was worn by women who wanted to make a statement about their authenticity and individuality, and that still holds true today.”

Celebrities from the past and present alike appreciate the pioneering spirit the Reebok Freestyle exudes. Even those stars too young to have worn the original Freestyles back in the day, recognize the impact the collection has had on today’s modern fashion.

"The ‘80s style is so fun and colorful, I love how the trend in still alive today with big earrings, bright oversize tops and most importantly shoes like the Reebok Freestyle,” said global tennis phenom Nicole Vaidisova. “I love the classic high-top design and they look great with jeans."

Serving up a challenging workout
Training at Bradenton's Bollettieri Center preps Vaidisova for women's tennis tour
MIKE HENRY
Herald Staff Writer

BRADENTON - Nicole Vaidisova moves with grace and elegance, mixing in powerful bursts for added effect.

At the moment, the 17-year-old Bradenton resident isn't on the tennis court. She is inside the Bollettieri Sports Medicine Center, attacking a series of strength and movement-efficiency exercises prescribed by physical therapist Dave Hogarth.

Vaidisova's objective: To be in peak physical condition when she returns to action this week at the $2.1 million Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, Calif. Her off-court workout regimen is designed to keep her fit, healthy and eager to compete on a year-round basis.

"Because the season is so long and grueling, injury prevention is the key factor for Nicole in staying on the court and playing the tournaments she wants to play," Hogarth said.

"She is both blessed and cursed with long limbs, so she needs to work hard on her lower-body flexibility and her leg and core strength to stay low. We also want to make sure her shoulder and arm stay strong, because they're swinging the racquet."

The No. 9-ranked player on the Sony Ericsson Women's Tennis Association Tour, Vaidisova brings enthusiasm and diligence to her six-days-a-week sessions. Since moving with her family from the Czech Republic six years ago to train at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, she has learned the truth of an old American saying: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

"A lot of tennis is about fitness," said the 6-foot Vaidisova, coached on the court by her father, Ales Kodat. "A match goes to the third set, sometimes it's hot. . . . I don't think I have ever cramped in my life. I've never really felt tired in a third set.

"Some players, when the match goes to three sets, you can feel they're going away. They can't breathe any more. They're trying to make the points as short as possible."

Vaidisova's athleticism and marathoner's mentality - combined with her powerful serve and ground strokes - have propelled her near the top of the women's game in rapid fashion.

Already a six-time winner on tour, Vaidisova reached back-to-back semifinals in January. She made a stirring run in the Australian Open before losing to eventual champion Serena Williams 7-6 (5), 6-4. It was her second Grand Slam semifinal appearance; in last year's French Open, she upset top-seeded Amelie Mauresmo and Venus Williams before falling against Svetlana Kuznetsova a match from the finals.

Hogarth attributes her climb, in large part, to her physical condition.

"Nicole is very interested in what she needs to do to prepare off the court," said Hogarth. "Her goals are set so high, she needs to be that way. We have an agreement: If I can't tell her why she is doing something, there is no reason for her to do it."

Typically, Vaidisova will hit balls for a couple hours in the morning, then undergo light-weight rehabilitation and flexibility-type exercises inside the center. After a midday break, she returns to the court for more tennis, followed by afternoon conditioning that may include a long run or movement training.

"What I do in here keeps me going," Vaidisova said after working out last week. "It helps me get faster and stronger and keep injury-free. I like to run more than lift, but Dave makes it interesting by giving me a lot of exercises. Having this center is one of the main reasons I'm here."

Since the Bollettieri center (located on IMG Academies' campus) is available to the public, individuals going through rehabilitation often find themselves conditioning side-by-side with athletes of renown such as Vaidisova.

After undergoing pancreatic surgery, Bradenton financial advisor John Tucker found himself unable to raise his right hand above his shoulder - a condition he thinks may have been caused by trying to protect his stomach while sleeping.

Tucker, 60, is a devoted golfer. After learning he did not have rotator-cuff damage, he began seeing Hogarth for rehabilitation exercises three days a week over a period of two months.

"I needed to improve my range of motion with my hand," said Tucker, who recently shot a respectable 84 at Bradenton Country Club in his return to the links. "Dave is probably one of the best guys there is in the country with scapular injuries, and my arm has improved tremendously.

"You look around the (Bollettieri) center, and 80 percent of the people have a good amount of gray hair, but Maria Sharapova was there two days when I was there. When you see those kind of athletes work, it is an inspiration to us old guys to work a little harder."

On rare occasions, though, even Vaidisova has trouble getting fired up for certain exercises.

"I hate pull-ups," she said, laughing. "I call it a combined workout because I do a couple, and Dave pulls me up on the rest."

LYNDHURST, N.J., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Citizen Watch Company of America, Inc. (COA) has signed 17-year old Nicole Vaidisova, the world's Top 10 ranked tennis champion on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour to its international media campaign, Unstoppable. Ms. Vaidisova has already won 6 career Tour singles titles and is the youngest female player in the Top 10, achievements that embody the core of the Citizen Eco-Drive® Unstoppable campaign.

When she was just 15 years old, Ms. Vaidisova won her first professional Tour event in Vancouver. Later that season, she became 1 of only 3 players in the Tour's history to win 2 tournaments in her rookie year. At 16, she won 3 back-to-back professional Tour events, in Seoul, Tokyo and Bangkok. Then, at 17, she reached her first Grand Slam semi-final at the French Open, beating top seed Amelie Mauresmo and Venus Williams in the process. I noticed Tennis Channel website that Nicole will have a No Strings episode. I think this is new, right? Will someone be able to cap it and put it online??

It says 3/18

Nicole Vaidisova is one of the most exciting young talents in the game. We meet up with her in the off season while she trains at IMG Academies Nick Bollettieri Academy. While there, we meet her two younger brothers, and her parents.

One of her best friends in Bradenton is one of the best golfers in the world – Paula Creamer. Nicole talks about the importance of being able to share similar experiences with another young sports superstar. Nicole tries her hand at the golf range with Paula, without much success. Then Nicole gets a little revenge, as Paula tries to hit tennis balls with Nicole. Later we meet up with Nicole as she gets sushi, and then takes us to a bookstore where she reveals some surprising things about her tastes in books.

That Cronin idiot managed to insult two of my top faves in the same sentence:
"But outside of Chakvetadze, who is still learning English, Vaidisova is the least charming of the lot." :fiery:

It's not like HIS English is perfect, even though he's a native speaker: "Vaidisova cannot avoid be compared to Maria Sharapova", "she doesn't not have Sharapova's evocative personality", etc.
