Wtf? She's 18 years old which makes her adult according to czech law, she's allowed to drink alcohol, she can apply for a driving license. 11 years between a woman and a man is nothing unusual in todays world (that's if the man is the older one :tape:).

I am quite disgusted with the replies in the GM, is everyone a fucking superficial retard with looks obsession?
I agree that marriage is unexpected and rather hasty because they haven't been together for very long (probably), so perhaps they should wait, but all those retarded comments... :weirdo:
Some posters here really need a life to discover that not all is about looks.

Anyway, let's see how it will turn out.

Tell me how is marrying at 18 years old good for her career. And how often does it last at that age?
And the guy was engaged to another woman in August. :tape:

Really I don't think it's because of puritanism that GM is overeacting.

I mean how long have they even been engaged?

That's what bothers me the most about this whole situation. What's the rush?

I just hope this doesn't jeopardize her career in anyway.
I doubt it will last, but who knows...

I have a little pression on what you've said in GM,it's something like it's her private life, nothing is worthy of discussion, right?so why you're still involved in it with great interest...
I do dislike Stepanek since 2006 wimbledon the game between him and Ferrero, according fans report, his words and action made me disgusting.
And if not? There's no point imagining hypothesis so far.

I didn't wrote it's good for her career, but rather that it shouldn't influence it, unless they have a drastic divorce. I also wrote that it seems to be hasty and maybe they should wait. And how often lasts it at any age?
We don't know the background of this cause so why people presume they know what's good for Nicole better than her or her parents?

But honestly I don't care that much about this marriage, I was just disappointed with the way posters in the GM responded. They overreacted just because Stepanek isn't the exact model type ala Vogue, which is pitiful and somehow reflects the state of our society.

Do you believe it would provoke the same reactions if it was some "hot" guy instead of Stepanek, 29 years old or even older? Don't be silly. People are full of prejudice because of the stupidest reasons.
btw. Global society doesn't exist yet, I meant Euro-American or the so called Western society.

Quickly back the Vaidisova story, where a Florida paper reported that she and Martina Hingis’ former fiancée, Radek Stepanek, applied for a marriage license at the clerk’s office. It’s not as if you can make up an official legal document so there must be something to the story. Plus, no one is denying that the 30-year-old Stepanek and 18-year-old Vaidisova are dating, but Vaidisova’s camp is strenuously denying that they are engaged, so we will have to leave it at that for the moment.

This is part of an interview of Elena Dementieva with a french magazine :

FM: What do you think of the retirement of Kim Clijsters and the announcement from Nicole Vaidisova who has explained that her plan is to play only until the age of 25 because tennis is not her entire life?
ED: I don't like this way of thinking because you can never know what you will be able to do in the future. You can hurt yourself or others and it is very difficult to see what change in plans the planets have in store for you(?? ). For Kim, i know that she was tired of playing because she was chained to a lot of competitons. And her way of playing was very physical, she said to herself "no that is enough, my body can no longer follow (this schedule)". I think that she would have been able to play longer but it is her choice.

My question is if really Nicole said that she is thinking about a retirement at 25 years old like the interviewer affirms .
Thanks in advance

Derek.

Yeah, it's true. I think Nicole said she wanted to stop at 26 instead of 25, not that it matters much. I am sure if you tried the search button you would find an article somewhere around here. I remember I read it. But you know how young girls change their mind every month.

She said 24-25.It was one year ago at the OGF.She said she will carry on for like 7 years on the tour but not more because she found there were a lot of things to do outside the tennis. The interview was published on the french tennis magazine who's only on the net.

When was the last time she was ranked this low? I think it was around May of 2006. :help:

Alex Kodat isn't Nicole's coach anymore(since Miami).. don't know what to think because Nicole was without Alex in Miami and got crushed... maybe that's why she pulled out from AI and she wants to work hard and get a new coach.. Kodat got a lot of offers from other WTA players.. Nicole has a list of a lot of names and she will choose from this list in next days.. hope she will choose the best one because she really needs to work hard and to get some new tactics etc.. we'll see if there'll be any progress.. it also depends on Nicole if she wants to work hard...

what do u think about it? and are there any stats how players play when they get a new coach?

Well, Kodat is/was much more than a coach to her, obviously. I don't know how bad the relationship has/had become, or when things started to go wrong, or why, but dealing with this kind of thing is never easy, especially when the former coach is also a part of the player's family. Nicole didn't exactly look like a happy camper in Miami. Kodat has played a big part in her life until now. These are tough times for her. She really is at a crossroads.

She's not used to be on her own, and she shouldn't rush things. Finding the right coach can be a delicate and time-consuming process.

I suspect that what the Strasbourg organizers considered "too much money" for Vaidisova was 12€ + a daily voucher for a croque monsieur at the food court.

But really, I don't think her agent asked for enough money to build the Strasbourg cathedral a second tower.

Felgate can rake as well as coach
> Posted by Charles Bricker at 4:20:44 PM

BRADENTON -- It wasn't 15 minutes after I'd parked at the IMG Bollettieri Academy that the smiling face of former LTA director and onetime Tim Henman coach David Felgate was greeting me.

Off in the distance, his newest charge, the enormously gifted but right now slightly lost Nicole Vaidisova was waiting to go to work.

It was Nicole's 19th birthday, but this was no holiday. After Felgate and I bantered a bit, he was off for the Bollettieri red clay court, or, shall we say, the American version of red clay, to begin drilling her. They'll be here a couple weeks before they go to Europe, where Vaidisova will begin more serious preparation for Berlin and Rome -- her buildups to the French Open.

She's no longer coached by her stepfather, Alex Kodat, but things certainly seem amiable enough. Kodat was on the indoor courts here in the afternoon, drilling Vaidisova's younger brother.

Felgate not only can coach, but he's pretty handy with a clay court rake. It was getting a little rough on Vaidisova's baseline, so her British coach began smoothing out the material. "The more you can do. . ." goes the old line.

This hasn't been a tragic year for Vaidisova, who began strongly with wins over Daniela Hantuchova and Jelena Jankovic at Sydney, just before the Australian Open. And there was no shame in losing in the fourth round at Melbourne to Serena Williams.

But she was trounced by No. 2 Ana Ivanovic in the round of 16 at Dubai, went down in three to No. 56 Casey Dellacqua in her opening match at Indian Wells and was flushed out of Key Biscayne in her opening match, 6-4, 6-0, by No. 83 Alisa Kleybanova, a qualifier.

Her hair pulled back and tied tightly, Vaidisova wasn't smiling much during this birthday training session. No doubt two things are going to be foremost on Felgate's agenda -- (1) getting Vaidisova's confidence back and (2) working on her movement.

She's a big woman and reminds one a lot of Lindsay Davenport at this age, though Vaidisova's feet are quicker now that Davenport's were then. But both hit big enough off both sides to dictate points from the baseline. That doesn't translate into a great advantage on clay, but, in a way, this is a good time for Felgate to start with her.

The one thing clay court training will do for Vaidisova is push her endurance and the longer points will help get her head back into the game.

She began this week ranked No. 16.

I don't believe a player like Jankovic, last year, came only for fun one week before Rg without being paid.

Actually, at the time Jankovic was hogging so relentlessly that she would probably have paid to be allowed to play.

As you all may remember, Nicole was a bit disappointed she didn't make the WTA championships in Madrid last year, but it's understandable after the two injuries and mono.

I believe it was one of her goals for 2008.

Unless Nicole does a 180 and starts winning and winning big, it looks like she'll have to wait at least another year. :o

and Mattek could be pretty dangerous.. I believe Nicole will beat Morita, then a tough match up against Mattek and somebody in 4R.. she can beat them all.. also Serena could be beatable if she plays.. and even there's Kleybanova.. it's a tough draw but Nicole could go minimally into the QF if she plays well :)

interview with Alex Kodat: NICOLE will dominate again!

Again, this can work, said after the nearly three weeks of renewed cooperation Alex Kodat and former tennis star Nicole Vaidisova. After a successful test period, both are going to Indian Wells, California, next week, where Vaidisova's return on sunlight could begin.

Third week of your renewed coopeartion with Nicole started. How it looks like at the moment?
"Good. We train twice a day. Nicole did some certain technical changes in her game, which I don't like, so we're getting it back."

What you don't like?
"She started with a lower strike on her serve but we always had the upper one. We're getting it back because Nicole prefers the upper one and she feels more comfortable. Sometimes she plays her groundstrokes from close stance and it suffers her movement so we're getting back to open stance. But we can say there're no big changes."

Everyone can win a title although lots of them are nobody IMO. Sometimes luck is very important, even tops level. I always think if she could won a big tournament or reached a GS final, how different she will be today...She needs a breakthrough, that will bring her confidence and lift her up.

I'm not a optimistic person, but I do want to see her come back considering she's still young and she is the only 1 of 2 talent teenagers within 10 years(another one is maria of course:kiss:). I just simply like her since 2006 RG the first time I saw her picture.:hysteric: The lose again, and again the damage I wish I could not support her anymore but I can't...

http://allineedisapicketfence.wordpress.com/2009/12/16/offseason-newsreels-open-trials-secret-weddings/

"2. Nicole Vaidisova has won her first match in 6 months, defeating Katalin Marosi 26 64 64 round 1 at the ITF Dubai 75k tournament.

Yes. It has come to that.

Word is that her current coach is Eric van Harpen, who used to work with MariKiri."

Anyway, I'm not sure about Eric, it seems everyone says he's a good coach but I've also heard not so great things about him regarding the players he was coaching at some point. Anyway, we don't know, he may be the perfect coach for Nicole though. Plus I don't think he can do any worse than her current situation so, and he also got her to win some matches; the fact that she's getting a new coach means she knows there's something wrong with her game and that means she still cares about her tennis career so I'm happy with that. And I'm also hoping that hopefully he's willing to get her back to the top and they both work really hard to get there.

With a new hair colour, new coach, I get the feeling that Nicole is trying to change things and turn the corner. It still won't be easy, but she is capable of it.

because Nicole & her coach feel that she wouldn't be ready and that could lead to a disappointment so they will stay on Florida and keep working hard :)

Lol, what? You mean "she wouldn't have got married". But the fact she didn't want to keep play tennis could be because she wanted to get married and now that she has she decided to come back; how does that not make sense?!
