What wisdom have you gathered in your life that you'd like to pass on to others? What have you learnt from this thing called life? Share your knowledge here!

What I have learned...

* Purple is the nicest colour

* Don't follow the crowd, be true to yourself

* Dr Pepper tastes great, so does vanilla ice cream

* Dr Pepper and vanilla ice cream rot your teeth

* Brush your teeth, before its too late!

* Tomboys are great.

* Hot weather is vile, regardless of what the weatherman says

* Halard was the greatest.

* The world is doomed

* There are LOADS of stupid people in the world...plus a few nice ones, don't let the stupid ones get you down.

1. The education system and student funding in this country is set up purely to let the rich person succeed and the much more talented and career driven less well off person fail.

2. Beer makes you put weight on, but you still drink it.

3. Oranges are not the only fruit.

4. The monsters under the bed arent really there.

5. Mouse Trap was so annoying to lose at as a kid, cos you'd spend about half an hour setting the f**ker up.

6. Rude Dog and the Dweebs is not based on real life events.

7. EVERYONE lives in fear, fear rules us all and NOTHING will save you from it.

8. Cold weather is a bastard too. (to stick up for Chris though, may I take a Half Man Half Biscuit lyric which may sum up the way he thinks "The weatherman says it's going to be a miserable day, miserable to who? I quite like a bit of drizzle so stick to the facts".

9. Football is great, I've tried to stop, but I cant.

10. Lenny Henry is rubbish.

9) I am a good person, I should quit beating myself up.

Time passes too quickly.

We can only remember the past, we cannot re-live it.

There's so much more to people than what is on the surface.

Sometimes things can be extraordinarily, inexplicably difficult. Especially when you want it badly enough.

Unrequited love also hurts for the "non-reciprocater."

New possibilities are scary and intimidating.

The unknown is very overwhelming.

Decision-making is hard.

It is hard to trust ourselves.

It is easy to doubt.

Self-doubt results in the wrong choices.

There is so much to life than we have seen or know.

There should be more answers.

There really should be more answers.

Hidden Stillness
Jul 26th, 2003, 01:14 AM
1. Sometimes you start off by wanting to change things, and end up just wanting to fit.

2. Sometimes people just don't like you, and there is nothing to do about it one way or the other.

3. Sometimes you truly have to stand alone. Then you learn what fear is.

4. You can't change assholes and the deliberately cruel by reasoning with them or by being nice. Sometimes all you can do is contain them with laws. Also, problems don't necessarily get solved.

5. Don't get too full of yourself when things are going good.

6. For all the talk about how you have to "love yourself," sometimes the problem was not your attitude toward yourself, but your attitude toward other people.

7. Don't presume that something was false just because somebody hasn't made a good case for it. They may just not be the right one to explain it. Of course, it might also be false.

8. There was a writer named John Gunther during the 1940s etc., who wrote a wonderful book, (became a TV movie during the '70s), called "Death Be Not Proud," about Gunther's son, who died of a brain tumor as a teenager. This kid loved to think up aphorisms, and even prayers--an atheist/agnostic. One of the best was "Live while you live, and die and be done with it."

9. Of course, all these wise expressions are easier said than done. You haven't really got it, until you have been through the complex version of the simple truth.

10. Life is like a kaliedoscope, always changing, behind this world stands every fact that ever was, and sometimes you learn all of these lessons only to find that things have shifted completely and they no longer apply. You don't even know who to turn to, to ask. You will never make it, though, if you don't fit.

Not really that original, but here are the hard and fast truths I've learned over my relatively short tenure on our planet:

1. People suck. They will always let you down.
2. Things change after high school. Don't kid yourself about who will and won't be there when you suddenly don't see each other everyday.
3. Know when to choose your battles. Some things just aren't worth fighting over.
4. Don't always tell the people you fall in love with that you love them.
5. Marriage is the first life-altering event where you don't come out on the other side alone (this can be amended, though, if you have a child first).
6. Always put yourself first -- chances are, nobody else is.
7. Never go to bed mad.
8. Communication is key. Being passive-agressive will only leave you lonely and angry.
9. Make sure you have at least one hobby you are passionate about.
10. Celebrity crushes can be very rewarding :)

(in no particular order)

1. Family are the best friends you will have in life.

2. Freedom is a right of any human.

3. Although we only use half of our brain, we only use a third of our heart

4. We are all ignorant when trees wave at us in the breeze, and we ignore them.

5. It is better to think you are a survivor than a victim, many victims are not survivors.

6. Laws are "man made doctrines", possibly created through a drunken night between 2 leaders.

7. Those who belittle others usually have bigger issues themselves.

8. There is a massive difference between religion and being beliefist.

9. Physical fighting only sees both walk away injured.

10. Money doesn't make the world go around at all....will eventually stop it spinning.

okies will stop there or I could crap on for hours LOL

yeh channel 7 has some good stuff but i meant in regard to their coverage of tennis...u know...putting it on at like 11pm :fiery: honestly-WHO apart from me is up that late to watch it?!?!?!? :p should really get cable...*goes off to annoy parents into getting cable*

1. You always look up ahead to find your future, and really it always comes at you from the side, out of nowhere.

2. You can only get close to people by showing who you are.

3. You know you may have found your true vocation when everything just feels natural, not a struggle to get anywhere, but as if, "I'm already here," and it was almost too easy. Nobody has to keep explaining to you what to do.

4. As my Mom said shortly before she died, "Never be afraid to ask for help."

5. It is not shameful to admit to being afraid or lonely, etc. Just don't be pathetic about it.

6. Don't try to win every battle, or people will hate you beyond anything you suspect, whether they show it or not, and will rightly gloat over your first public loss.

7. You make more of an effort to change, if there was some indication that you will be appreciated for it after, or that somebody has been hoping for it.

8. An old expression: "Whether the pitcher hits the rock or the rock hits the pitcher, it's bad news for the pitcher."

9. You can't know everything everywhere, but you can be aware, where you are.

10. Bush should be impeached.

Bonus #11. Better a real life than a fantasy love.

1. Partying in college IS NOT GOOD for your GPA
2. Career Paths shouldn't be based on what you think is simple, but what you enjoy
3. Bacardi should avoid all females named Jessica, as they are all hott as hell, and only intend to break my heart  (I'm 0-2 when it comes to lucking out with Jessica's)
4. People change, don't ever expect to keep all the same friends around
5. You should never hide your feelings about someone, you don't know when they might go away
6. Breaking tennis racquets is stupid and a waste of money
7. Martina Hingis is a rude little bitch to her fans
8. Never date a guy who claims to be in love with you after date #1, and has sex with you on date #2... it's bad
9. Never forget your panties when you go on vacation
10. NYC changes people, usually for the worse if they aren't already from there. I can blame the place on one big loss of mine.

[QUOTE=Bacardi]Ten Lessons I've learned in life, I wish I had learned sooner:
1. Partying in college IS NOT GOOD for your GPA

- um yes, know what you mean....

2. Career Paths shouldn't be based on what you think is simple, but what you enjoy

- well said :yeah:

3. Bacardi should avoid all females named Jessica, as they are all hott as hell, and only intend to break my heart  (I'm 0-2 when it comes to lucking out with Jessica's)

- aww, sorry to hear

4. People change, don't ever expect to keep all the same friends around

- this i know, but it's been good so far, my best friends are still those i've had since elementry school.

5. You should never hide your feelings about someone, you don't know when they might go away

- so true... *sigh*

6. Breaking tennis racquets is stupid and a waste of money

- haven't done this one..... but i've slammed my snowboard into a wall coz i missed a jump..

7. Martina Hingis is a rude little bitch to her fans

- lol take it easy now..... :p

8. Never date a guy who claims to be in love with you after date #1, and has sex with you on date #2... it's bad

- hate hate hate...

9. Never forget your panties when you go on vacation

- lol - haven't done this! underwear is usually the first thing i pack.

10. NYC changes people, usually for the worse if they aren't already
from there. I can blame the place on one big loss of mine. :sad

- haven't been to NYC.....

britsh music is the best

find out who you are and dont let someone else do it first

the grass isnt always greener on the other side

if people can make you happy than they can also make you unhappy

stand by what you belive in

black people are more racist than white people (as if they have something to make up for with their own channel and magazines)

just because ur attractive doesnt mean your happy

you can never win with people because they'll always have something to say about it

dont be afraid to show someone who you really are and be an individual

if you always want what you have than youll always have what you want :)*
