View Full Version : Why do straight girls like to pretend that they're lesbians?

we had a party last night for todd a co-worker who's wife recently gave birth. after some food and drinks we played cds and some of us danced. i work for a very straight-laced company so people danced in couples. there was a shortage of men so two of the girls danced together. these two girls are young (early 20's) and love attention. they started to dance closely and grind each other peeking out periodically to make sure we were all watching. then they moved their faces very close as if they were going to kiss and just as the their lips were going to touch they pulled away laughing hysterically. one of them said rather loudly "i just love acting like a lesbian". they don't know that i'm a lesbian and i wasn't going to to tell them cos they aren't my close friends. it didn't upset me but it did annoy me cos their behaviour wasn't even complimentary to lesbians. i don't even like it when real lesbians behave that way in public. this wasn't the first time i've seen this routine from straight girls. i don't really understand the fascination.

Because they want to make me happy.

Maybe these two are dumb, ignorant bitches who like sending up people whom they don't understand. In which case DD is absolutely right.

OTOH, lots of basically straight girls really do have lesbian tendencies. Maybe these two were using the situation as an excuse to express theirs in a "safe" way.

And maybe they wouldn't even be sure themselves.

As a bisexual female I see this a lot, in fact I have a few friends who like to act like they are dating me when we are out at clubs/parties. The reason they give is 'it's fashionable and I get attention'. I don't mind, they are attractive. But I do think society has made it the 'in' thing to be bi or lesbian. :o

I do agree with you jouissant, lots of straight females have lesbian tendencies. And some of them are curious but never act on it... others do. If you think about it, girls are raised to be more kind, caring and loving... And also not be afraid to be affectionate towards one another. I guess this is why we don't see men holding hands, and hugging.

yea sometimes its to do with girls wanting to explore that side of them but not really feeling comfortable with actually going out and having real lesbian sex.
a lot of the time here in the UK stupid girls just do it coz basically it turns on pretty muchly every guy who thinks he can get two girls for the price of one

Apparently men like to see lesbians kissing. So they do that to attract men i suppose. Its a good way of getting their attention.

maybe they just wanted to a have a little fun? doesnt mean that theyre doing it out of ignorance or trying to mock/ridicule the lesbian comunity...i know lots of girls who have done so and i guess so many girls do it (relative to the guys) simply cos it isnt looked down upon as much.

First sign that a tv programme's (Ali McBeal being a prime-time example ) ratings are starting to dip: a long, luscious, lustful, lingering lesbian snog!
Audience figures will soar - works every time!
So maybe your colleagues felt their 'audience figures' needed a boost.

i'm straight and i do that. but not for the attention, i guess the homosexuality withing me(sounds dumb) likes it. plus, i feel more comfy doing that with women that guys, cuzs they'd get hard. but i dont do it cuz i like acting like a lesbian or anything. those two girls were simply idiotic.
