Hey y'all, could you guys tell me some really good ballads/slow jams/love songs to download? These are really the only type of music I can see myself listening to at a regular basis. :) Anyhelp will be appreciated...

You can download Natalie Imbruglia, if you don't hate her. She had a bunch of great ballads on her second album. Download "Goodbye", "Come september", "Hurricane" to name a few...

She has a very sweet voice, indeed. And I'd agree, "White Lilies Island" is a very pleasant pop record.

It's just that Imbrulia can be considered totally mushy and immature in her lyrics and totally boring (not my words -> see below).

"It's been suggested that the long wait between Imbruglia's debut album and this one is due to her being a true artist and not a flash in the pop pan. It seems more likely that the reason it took four years to put this album together lies with Imbruglia's lack of talent. Four years' work for this? You've got to be joking.

This is a yawnful album full of middle-of-the road melodies and adolescent lyrics - perfect for people with little life-experience and no sense of music history. Which means that it's sure to do well in its intended market.

Some say that Imbruglia's success is due to her music and not because she's a pretty girl with doe-eyes, but it's hard to believe that. This kind of music requires that the listener have a crush on the singer - only the forgiveness that comes with new love could justify anyone claiming that there's genius to be found here."

Well, screw this reviwer, because it's still very pleasant and underrated for a mainstream album. I'm not nuts about it now, but it certainly can be enjoyed.

Who are your favourite artists, shap_half?

I have an ecclectic taste in my music since I only really like ballads and only listen to them. Um I don't have specific artists that I favor. I just love songs. Some of my favorites:
Natalia Cole - Inseperable
Oleta James - Get Here
Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U
Bic Runga - Sway
Dionne Warwick - I'll Never Love This Way Again
Celine Dion - If You Ask Me To
Taylor Dayne - Love Wil Bring You Back
Travis Tritt - Anymore
Tamia - Officially Missing You
Tamia and Eric Benet - Spend My Life With You
Depeche Mode - Somebody
Mariah Carey and Brian McKnight - Whenever You Call
Mariah Carey - Anytime You Need A Friend
Brian Adams - To Really Love a Woman
Brian Adams - Everything I Do (I Do It For You)
Cyndi Lauper - I Drove All Night
Eva Cassidy - Time After Time
Paul McCrane - Is It OK If I Call You Mine
Sixpence None The Richer - Don't Dream It's Over
Roxette - It Must Have Been Love
Spice Girls - 2 become 1
The Pretenders - I'll Stand By You

sorry if I went overboard!

Kate Bush is a British singer who was very successful in the 70s and early 80s. Her biggest hit in the USA was probably her duet with Peter Gabriel "Don't Give Up". In style, she's quite close to Tori Amos.

Downloading music is "Bad"? Not according to Michael Jackson (smooth link!):

From today's Mirror newspaper:

"THE last person anyone would expect to defend MP3 file-sharers is Michael Jackson - but he has. Jacko has hit out at new US legislation aimed at incarcerating music downloaders.

He said: "I am speechless about the idea of putting fans in jail for downloading music." "
