Go Julia Vakulenko!!! Alinka wasn't messing around today either? That's one of the most one-sided wins I've ever seen her produce!

Oh that's not nice.

Nobody said I was a nice person ;) Seriously I like Amanda after watching her play doubs, but she's, ahem, not exactly a stalwart singles player, so it's almost funny to see her name in the final round of qualies for a Tier II

#9 seed Teryn Ashley (USA) v. Gabriela Lastra (USA)

This one was very very very close. When Lastra started winning in the second, Ashley decided to call the trainer and use a bathroom break. Then once the third set started, every time Lastra would get some momentum, Ashley would ask for the towel and delay the game. This seemed to frustrate Lastra and Ashley would again pull back. That's all I'll say. The games went back and forth, until 3-3 when Ashley finished her off. They both played really well.

#5 seed Alina Jidkova (RUS) d. Alexandra Podkolzina (RUS), 6-2, 6-0

It actually was kinda close in the first set, but the second was total domination by Jidkova. Alexandra has very bad fundamentals in everything she does on the court, IMO.

#2 seed Marissa Irvin (USA) v. Abigail Spears (USA)

Abigail played incredible. Marissa didn't play bad at all. She actually just got overpowered a bit which I thought was kinda surprising after I had seen her last year, but that was probably because Spears was playing so well. This one was close all the way til the end.

#8 seed Tara Snyder (USA) d. Kim Grant (RSA), 6-2, 6-2

missed it

Amanda Augustus (USA) d. #3 seed Ansley Cargill (USA), walkover

#6 seed Maria Vento-Kabchi (VEN) d. Maika Ozaki (JAP), 6-3, 6-4

missed it

#4 seed Julia Vakulenko (UKR) d. Diana Ospina (USA), 6-2, 6-2

Total mismatch here. Ospina got severely overpowered. Julia could be a very good player, but seems to kinda take the laid back approach. She has a lot of power.

Angela Haynes (USA) d. #7 seed Mashona Washington (USA), 6-4, 6-3

Never even heard of this Haynes girl before. She didn't play all that great, but Mashona just wasn't there today.
