It seems that Lindsay and Conchita have withdrawn, so that Bartoli and Cho could enter the maindraw directly

poor Lindsay :(

Jankovic is a WC.

AjdeNate!
Jul 19th, 2003, 09:09 PM
Frazier a WC?....maybe?

MLF
Jul 19th, 2003, 09:10 PM
Wild cards are Amber Liu & another one for Jelena Jankovic ,I believe, who has a great agent that's for sure with the amount of US wc's she has received. Amy Frazier was direct entry as her rank is #47 and has been around that mark for the past few months.

Best of the main draw luck to:

Jennifer Capriati
Amy Frazier
Daniela Hantuchova
Serena Williams
Eleni Danilidou
Rita Grande

Marion had a lot of bad luck again. She always gets very difficult draws. Her draw is one of the worst of all unseeded players here.

Anyway, Good luck Marion!

I think Taylor got the last WC. There have been 6 withdrawls (Davenport, Martinez, Bovina, Farina Elia, Kuznetsova, Harkleroad). The 6 players that got in were Cho, Grande, Bartoli, Black, Craybas, and Barna. So Taylor must have gotten in via a WC...although I can't imagine why.

I was wondering who got the WC too, considering I was copying down the draw from the tournament site. Hmmm I think Taylor is also with IMG, she got a WC into Key Biscayne this year.

Joana
Jul 19th, 2003, 11:23 PM
I'm pretty sure Jelena got a WC beacuse she played in QF last year.
Not a good draw for her... at her very best she can challenge Meghann on hardcourts but lately her game has just been  and :awww:.

Dokic#1

What a crappy draw for this tournament..Its usually really good...too many players playing fed cup!

Jul 19th, 2003, 11:50 PM
Kim Clijsters must have some good blackmail material on a lot of important people in the WTA, because she got another cakewalk draw. After a first-round bye, she plays either doubles specialist Lisa Raymond or college freshman Amber Liu in the second round (granted, Amber is the NCAA women's singles champion, but still). The other seeds in her half are #4 Daniela Hantuchova (16-14 record this year), #6 Meghann Shaughnessy (22-12) and #7 Eleni Daniilidou (25-12).

Tournies says give Serena the trophy :)

I see no problems for her, but I would really Like for a Serena vs. Nadia semi. Nadia would really see where she is at. Serena is so great, I think Nadia would love the opportunity. But Serena would sweep her aside in bout an hour. But the aww Nadia would receive. I think she would love it, and to just think about her actually trying to get to the top, she would have to get this good eventually.

praying for Serena vs. nadia!

Assuming Alex can get by the qualifier in the first round (which is a HUGE assumption, as I could probably kick her ass this year ;) ) Alex will play Jenny again, who seems to be the only player that she plays good tennis against...... This might actually be an interesting match

Emphasis on "possibly."

Personally, I think the emphasis should be on "possibly not," but that's just me..... ;)

I said it on another thread, and I'll say it here: if Serena is spotted anywhere near the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' training camp facility between now and next Sunday, I'll be very, very  !!

I bought my ticket for the singles semis already, so I'm still going. Of course, now that there are no Williamses in this event, Clijsters is GUARANTEED to win. :p
