Tennis player Elizabeth Hawkins hasn't been on court much lately. Rumors were spreading like wildfire about why the American Beauty had only played four tournaments in four months. Well, the answer was revealed late last week as promotions for the multi-talented diva's first ever CD, entitled "A Look Into My Life" (Virgin Records) were released. Though little information is known about most songs on the recording, it is known that the first single will be entitled "Dirt", a song about backstabbing Americans and how secrets are never kept. Included in the CD will be a steamy poster of Ms. Hawkins on a secluded Hawaiin Beach--no doubt intended for her already abnormally large following of teenage boys. When asked about her seemingly sudden career change, Elizabeth responded, "I don't see it as sudden at all. I mean, I love to play tennis, and I love to sing. I have always had a great voice, and I think I am definately marketable, so why not? I guess I just sent out a demo tape to the major record labels last year, and got a very nice contract with Virgin, and I planned my schedule so I could record this spring. Sure, my tennis has suffered a little, but I had alot of fun, so I have no regrets."

All 15 tracks on the record were co-written by Ms. Hawkins, and encompass everything from breaking up to breaking the mold of society. She sings faced paced dance tunes about having fun with her sexy boyfriend (no comment on the lucky guy from Elizabeth), moving ballads about having her heart broken, and even a rather depressing track about the problems America faces. Quite impressive stuff from someone with two demanding careers. Elizabeth had this to say in response to whether her singing detracted from her tennis or not, "I guess for most people it would, but I think I can manage it. I am really efficient with my time. I mean, it normally takes, like, a year and a half or more to record and produce a record, yet I am launching mine in a matter of weeks (you will see "A Look Into My Life" in stores starting August 26). All the while I was on court with my coach at least two hours a day, because there was no way I was gonna abandon my tennis. I love it too much to do that. And, you know, I still went to a few tournaments here and there, though I did try and do some photo shoots or promotional work in the cities I visited (she even recorded a few songs in Paris and London during Roland Garros and Wimbledon). Really, I think it is a great CD, and I hope my fellow players will enjoy it for themselves once it comes out. Music is such a great break from the sometimes hectic pace and lifestyle of the tour. In fact, I think I am gonna invite them all to my release party in New York during the US Open."

Whether the tour joins Elizabeth's wild night right before their first round matches is yet to be seen, but one cannot deny the quality of the CD, and it is definately worth the $15 cost. Verdict: A very impressive debut from a very well balanced young woman.
