Myriam has apparently drawn Emmanuelle in the first round.

Jul 27th, 2003, 01:03 AM
Patty (if she plays well  :fiery: ) seems to have a more comfortable draw then Myskina has, so all is looking well for Patty!!

But I am not happy about the other 2!!!! Emmanuelle and Myriam play each other in the first round arrrrrggghh :fiery: :fiery:
Go Emmanuelle though :bounce: and Myriam!!!! may the best swiss win!!!!!!

I guess Myriam's lucky she's not facing Manu in a swimsuit competion! :o (As would not only MGM, but Marti and Patty, BTW)!

Jul 28th, 2003, 12:10 AM
(With apologies to Bruce Sprinsteen), Rainer Hofmann night have an alternate explanation: Banned... in the USABanned... in the USAYes I was banned in the USA... (BTW, Myskina's situation is entirely different as she has a short trip home after Sopot (following) WTT & Fed Cup, thus gettng to rest B4 her hardcourt prep for the USO).

ok, we get it! rainer hoffman is a dickhead. although you might think you are clever in noting this point, it really doesn't hold up when you look at the evidence. Here are the tournaments patty has played after wimbledon and fed cup since being eligible:

97 - Prague, Warsaw, Maria Lankowitz
98 - Maria Lankowitz (W), Palermo (W), Canadian Open
99 - Portschach, San Diego (L 1st round), Manhatten Beach (Lost 2nd round), Canadian Open
00 - Klagenfurt (F), Sopot, Canadian Open
01 - Vienna, Knokke-Heist, Basle, US Open
02 - Sopot, Helsinki, Canadian Open.

Notice the similiarity? Patty has only started her american summer once before the canadian open, and it was an unsuccessful run. I personally think that patty should play more of the hard-court season. it is quite clear, however, that this year is not an abberation from her usual schedule caused by rainer hoffman's criminal record, but rather a continuation of her existing practice.

Good luck Patty!!!

Jul 31st, 2003, 11:26 AM
patty is through to the semis with just one win: matevicz is ill, so w/o.

Jul 31st, 2003, 12:46 PM
reminds me of the gold coast where she only beat schiavone to make the semis. let's just hope the result this time is better than agaisnt MGM

Jul 31st, 2003, 02:53 PM
Good luck in the semis Patty!!!

Jul 31st, 2003, 10:50 PM
And finally Patty won too!!
And that's what counts!!

Doris, for players in the upper rungs, what "counts" is how they do in Tier II or better events. The III and under events are only significant as preparation for the bigger ones (esp. the Slams). BTW, this isn't a "Hofmann bashing post", though my opinion is the same there. For example, when Diya "taunted me" about Myskina having won Doha earlier this year, I made the same basic point.

Wow, Geuss Patty didn't have to go out on court today. Maja withdrew so leaves Patty the easy route into the semis.

Her next opponent is Anna Pistolesi of Israel, Really Its hard to make a comment or a analysis on this match up. Nothing was really hidden about Pattys first round match that again she lost her concentration, wasn't on her complete game and narrowly avoided a loss. and with Maja's withdrawal it gives me less information to make any assumption upon her preformance tonight.

If Patty wishes to reach the finals tonight, she will have to be alot more consistent then what she has been in this tournament (Im only purley basing this on her match against Taxa) Even if Anna is not playing her best, shes still going to come out consistently playing her counter punching game, therefore consistency and patience form Patty is advised. Anna has won their last 2 meetings both last year, and Pattys last win was in 1999 in Berlin. Idea Prokom is on Clay, Pattys Favourite Surface, where she did win against her in Berlin, but lost in Vienna (both on clay) in 3 sets.

Adieu Patty!!!

Aug 1st, 2003, 02:13 PM
true, rothes, but patty beat anna rather easily in fed cup 2 weeks ago.

Aug 2nd, 2003, 01:22 AM

Patty  You didn't do what I asked of you  :p ;)
Best of Luck Next Time :) :( :o
