lmao your so conspicuous, how many usernames have you conjured now? 15, 20? really it's pathetic and immature. Don't count your eggs before they hatch either, Austria looks like a much stronger team in my opinion, especially with Barbara picking up her form, and Patricia showing some good form aswell! The 2 Klemenschitz sisters are promising youngsters from Austria, and plus I havn't seen any change of preformance or improvement by the canadians, so maybe it's wise if you look at your own faults, before criticizing and intimidating other people of this board.

HHHHHOOOOOPPPP AUSTRIA!!!!!!!!

Well I'd hate to see you learn proper grammar, because if you "did spoke" I'd definately be confused due to your limited vocabulary.

VERY original Xian. Canadians are allowed to say we'll kick your ass or whatever, but you know it's not true. So you *could* take the higher road and ignore the people doing that.

Hypocrite? I spelled something wrong, I didn't use an improper tense.

Spelling is all part of grammer techniques and usage, so before my grammer is criticized, you should polish up on all aspects of your grammar.

The best you can do is not provoke the child either, We might not of won the Winter Olympics, but with 4 other countries their, and it's not exactly a competitive competition, anyway lets cheer for our teams patriotically and remember .....

A benevolent man should allow a few faults in himself to keep his friends in countenance.

Wow, I would never suspect that a Fed Cup tie can create so much emotions. And, let's face it: a rather insignificant tie at that. Neither country has too much to boast about in terms of tennis (I am sad to say that as I am Canadian), so, I guess, this is why one of you had to bring the Olympics to as a substitution.

As far as English grammar and spelling are concerned, my verdict is that both contestants are equally bad.

Ryan
Jul 19th, 2003, 12:57 AM
shouldnt you be helping me trashing the Austrians.....
what the hell are you trashing me for...
you must be from Quebec or something:rolleyes:

Fuck off moron. You have every right to be trashed for your attempts to annoy the Austrians here. You repesent nothing in Canada, except a piece of scum that doesn't show Canada's real colous.

I wonder why Vanessa isn't playing at all, anyone have news about that? Hmm, I think we should win doubles, and the singles matches *could* swing our way. It's sad cuz I like Babsi a lot  Good luck to all competitors. :)

Randy H
Jul 19th, 2003, 01:13 AM
Vanessa was not the right choice for this tie, she is not suited to clay, and her results on clay this season (few and far between) definitely show that.

I did think she would have been a choice for the doubles though. :o

I think Maureen and Marie-Eve were the right picks, and nice to see Sonya in the doubles :)

From Tennis Canada

"NEUDORFL, Austria (TC) - The Canadian Fed Cup team has a tough job ahead after dropping its first two matches against Austria in Day One action of the World Group Qualifying Play-off Saturday.

In the first match of the day, Canada’s top player Maureen Drake of Toronto put up a great battle against Patricia Wartusch, but was unable to pull off the win, falling 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-2. In the second match immediately following, Marie-Ève Pelletier of Repentigny, Que., couldn’t hold on to her one-set lead, stopped 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 by Austria’s No.1 player Barbara Schett.

“The girls played with a lot of character and courage today,” said team Captain Rene Simpson. “We’re disappointed to be down 2-0, but we’re going to come out tomorrow and give it our best.”

Both Canadian players had their chances to come out on top in their matches. Drake was leading 2-1 in the third set when Wartusch, No.134 on the WTA Tour, took a medical timeout. When she returned to the court, she turned it up a notch, taking the deciding set without losing another game.

Pelletier, playing in just her third Fed Cup singles match, was down 5-3 in the third and saved two match points. Serving at 5-4 and up 40-0, Pelletier felt the pressure as Schett, No.54 in the world, hit some beautiful shots to close out the match.

Sunday is now a do-or-die situation, with Canada having to go undefeated in the remaining two singles matches and one doubles match. Drake is scheduled to play Schett in the first match of the day, while Pelletier is set to battle Wartusch. If doubles play is necessary, Torontonians Sonya Jeyaseelan and Vanessa Webb will get the call. Play begins at 6:00am ET."

Rout is not the word, whitewash is better, as Canada did give a valiant effort.

gosh, what a tough one to lose for Canada :(

they have to be proud though, and hopefully their spirits will not be put down by this. All the singles losses were 3 sets, and given that the entire Canadian team has a losing singles record on clay this year, they really put a great effort out there against Schett and Wartusch who have had their best results on clay recently. Just a shame they couldn't sneak out a couple of those singles. :(

If you had better reading comprehension skills, you would probably notice that I did refer to women's tennis in Canada. And the gold medal won by the two Canadian guys didn't really help Canadian tennis, did it?
And why this hostility toward Austrians? Isn't this supposed to be friendly competition? Wars are started because of people with your views. Lighten up and start ENJOYING watching tennis.

Not particulary, The jokes really on you for being so sure Canada would come out victors, turned out your wrong, and reverting back to the Winter Olympics as your only comeback and as your "aggressor" just shows how weak you are. You didn't beat us, it was concluded by a democratic vote that Canada got the right to host the Olympics. If you consider everything is a competition in life, you must lead a very sadistic one.
