Great Swedish team
Asa

I don't know what is Joakim thinking... Obviously Sweden needs to hope to win in singles cos in doubles Sofia barely has an idea what is about, Hanna the same, Aleksandra sucks and Mari no comments.... Having top 250 in doubles in Ejeson and Wolfbrandt seems not enough pf.

And then having any of the 4 JPN players its an obvious loss LOL
Japan will have their revenge from 2001 unless the biggest miracle after Nancy's win at Quebec City happens.

Go Sweden win a point.

Why Nana Miyagi never play fed cup?

Jul 9th, 2003, 09:39 AM
It doesn't really matter who Japan puts on in doubles...they are all top class doubles players.
They could even stick in an Hisimatsu/Miyagi combo and be gaurunteed to win in 2 sets.
Indoor Carpet.... Sugiyama won't lose.
BUT
Has anyone seen Ai's record in Japan? she is WELL-KNOWN to buckle under the pressure of a home crowd...we can probably expect her to lose a set in one of her encounters.... if she's pushed enough... you never know what could happen, especially since Arvidsson is a good player.

Even though Asagoe is obviously an excellent singles player, having beaten Coetzer and Hantuchova before... she just aint steady! - so its a toss up between her and the ultra-solid and also in-form Akiko Morigami. However, Shinobu is more accustomed to the big arena.
Obata is great singles player but she's sooo weak.. and her pretty face is not intimidating... once again, she aint reliable either.
Its a shame for the swedes, because ALL the japanese girls happen to be confident AND in great form.
The Tie will likely be a 5-0 for Japan,
I hope the swedes can make a fight out of it though - but i doubt it.
Good luck Japan and Sweden. :)

Gifu.....didnt Saori and Shinobu win 50K challengers there?
that makes it even worse for Swedes....
the only chance for them will be for
all the Japanese to fall in coma for a week during
Fed Cup....so pray hard, Swedes....:)

Ai buckles under the pressure? She has won the Japan Open TWICE, one being her first career title, so that shows that she can perform in front of a home crowd.
With Shinobu, yes she is a little streaky but she must be so confident right now, and with the tie being on an indoor court it will suit her better, she loves the fast courts. All four players are in good form at the moment, so Go Japan!!!!!! :worship:

Team Japan had a press conference yesterday in Gifu...
They seem to have confidence for the win...
No. 1 singles will be Ai (of course), but the captain said no.2 singles can't announced yet...
It could be Akiko, maybe?? Shino is good too!

Don't forget that Ai played amazing tennis to beat Tammy for the Asian G1 Fed Cup matches. Tammy was on fire. Ai was a volcano :D .

And the crowd was fantastic. I wish I were in Japan to see this tie  .

My personal comment on Swedish team:

Sofia: She knows she can do it, she has done it before, she has the experience and opportunities... she only has to relax and make her game... and stop making me mad for her chokings
Hanna: Good effort in all her matches, trying to coming back and giving her best... still has not much experience but seems to be going in the good way.

Sofia/Hanna: Pffff  Joakim bitch , if neither Maria or Helena play at least you could let Aleksandra play the doubles match  it won't make any difference anyways pfff :fiery: she was called for both ties and she played 0 matches :( :( :(

And as I promissed, I was from beggining to the end of this tie even if it is very late :o :D ;)

And finally, pf all of you cheerers from Japan who don't say even say a welldone to Swede ladies :p now no reputation points for you  LOL

Well done Japan. Shinobu was the heroine this time. It seems she played really well under pressure. :D

I watched a game in a meeting place today. :)

As for the result of a match, Japan won, but Swedish, the force looked.
The today's Ai seemed to especially feel pressure terribly because was supported since yesterday by a lot of Japanese.
I feel this thing disappointing.

A postscript:
Feelings are intense and Hanna is a dear player.
I have become a favorite and a fan very much.
