After the final yesterday at the Ordina Open tournament, Justine went to see a doctor who examined her ring-and middlefinger.
It was Carlos Rodriguez who said something when leaving the hospital:
"Furtunately, there is nothing broken but the fingers are still hurting. We have to wait until Monday afternoon to see how things evolve...the chances are 50-50..."
All we can do is keep our fingers crossed...and hope that Justine will recover and play at Wimbledon.
Pls Justine play

Any news of Justine's participation at Wimbledon???
Jun 23rd, 2003, 01:10 PM
She has trained today already and it seems it was pretty ok but nothing official yet. On Belgian news they said she would play but as long the website doesn't say anything I'm not convinced

From the official site some optimistic news but not 100% sure she will play!
Justine will probably play tomorrow, her training was quite positive but no official news this far....
*still keeping fingers crossed* Damn, mine are starting to hurt too ;)

GOOD NEWS :D
Justine will play tomorrow!
After her practise this afternoon, Justine decided to play tomorrow!
We just got the news with a little sms live from England to assure You the fans that Justine will play and that everything’s looking good.
She will play against the Ukraine Julia Vakulenko.
It will be the fist meeting between both players.
For Vakulenko, the number 100 of the world, it will be the first Wimbledon. This doesn’t mean that it will be an easy one for Justine.
The Ukraine, who will have her 20th birthday on July 10, is 1m83 tall and has a very fast serve (190km/h), the grass will be just fine for her.
Last tournament, Roland Garros, she won from Torrens Valero, send Schiavone home and finally lost to Jennifer Capriati in two sets.
from her site :bounce:

Vakulenko impressed me too sometimes, she has a good serve and was really gutsy too.
Good win Justine, it's good to play against some big servers before you meet Serena in the semifinals, so you can get used to it.
Next for Justine: Flavia Pennetta, a good solid player who's had some decent results, taking a set off Lindsay Davenport on hardcourt, and getting far in some of the lower tournaments.
After that, another big server, Molik or Likhovtseva.

Justine is still the BEST!! :bounce:
Jul 4th, 2003, 10:20 AM
Justine was not at her sharpest today and Serena was, so the result was normal. I'm still proud at Justine, though ... Playing 3 times a Wimbledon semi final and only losing to the Williams sister (who are the best on grass) show that she is next best thing on grass! :hearts:
And let the Williamses have their Wimbledon final. At least Justine has her RG final and she & Kim have dominated the claycourt season like the Williams sisters dominate on grass.

Good tournament Justine. Serena was too much, but I still feel she peaked a bit too early in this tourney. Her 3rd and 4th round were her best matches...
