suprising news to me, must have just got one, they didn't expect to get one next week.
I asked Yuri and Maria's travelling coach (that was 10am ish) and they both said they will be in Roehampton next week for qualies.

Good choices, but I dont think by the end of this week that Maria will need the WC. Even if she does not beat Alyona she will be aboue 105 in the world, meaning she makes the cut off.

That's good news about Maria! I'm happy she got a wildcard for Wimbledon. She deserves it. Anything can happen in qualifying on a grass court. And Maria may have been tired for qualifying next week. And I hope Elena and Corina are healthy for Wimbledon, too.

Cut off is done weeks prior to the tournament, Masha will need the WC.

Only if a couple people pull out....Sprem is #1 next-in for Wimbledon now with an approximately #77 ranking after her last win in Vienna!

77 or 78, I can't add properly today! ;)
Yes, she is #1 Qually seed, or 1st in. Hope she can continue on in Vienna for oh, about 2 more wins. ;)

Anyway, congrats to Maria - hopefully she uses it well and wins some matches.

Wimbledon has a deal with the AO. A brit WC in the AO, and a aussie WC in Wimbledon.

Tiredness wasn't gonna bother Maria - she has asked for a wildcard for Eastbourne! She'll run out of events for the rest of the year at this rate!!!

i think she is starting to believe that grass is her surface,
it doesnt hurt to have her becoming a grass specialist is there...:)
plus, as a big hitter as she is, maybe she is picking the right events
GO MARIA.....:d
