Probably the 89 RG final when she was the first person to beat Graf in a slam for nearly 2 years as an unheralded 17 year-old, or perhaps the jewel in the crown of her victories, when she stole victory from certain defeat against Graf in New York '94.

96 Roland Garros...runner-up 98 French....eats bagel in second then gives Monica a pretzel in the 3rd.

from a not steffi fan point

imho us open 94

people said she would be a clayspecialist forever so winning the us open was a great achievement!(I know she had her hardcourt succes before but still)

Definitely 1995 Wimbledon as said! Arantxa was definitely on fire being surprisingly aggressive and that 5-5 game in the 3rd set has got to be one of the most entertaining games in history! Of course, she loses in that match which makes it more agonzing but IMO her best GS final WIN was her 1998 French Open win over Monica!! :)

89 French was a good match everything Steffi gave to Arantxa she kept bringing them back! But if you wanna watch this match prepare for a LONG one because it's more of the "test of the endurance" match, sort of reminded me of their 96 FO final, of course there were pretty entertaining shots and usually when Arantxa and Steffi played they always brought out the best in each other..mostly in the case of Arantxa. :)

94 USO final had Steffi CREAMING Arantxa the 1st set and a half..it wasn't until Steffi had to take an injury time out that Arantxa took full advantage of that showcasing her netskills and aggressive play which really surprised me..she definitely showed the world that day that she can be a threat to all surfaces!

I suspect the ones that will last in tennis legend are her first GS win and W95 - though W95 will be a major problem for anyone trying to edit the tape for a documentary. RG89 was an amazing breakthrough by a real youngster. W95 may be the ASV-Steffi match to watch and its one of the ones people will use to show Graf's career. FO98 will get shown lots too as it may also be Monica's last GS final. USO 94 was her most amazing win imho.

I think we should pick finals in favor of Sanchez-Vicario otherwise, we are really giving credit to the other opponent. Even when Aranxta played really well but lost in the Wimbledon 1995 finals or the French Open 1996 finals to Graf, when she put away a Grand Slam final it meant that she played well when it mattered most.

There are FOUR WINS to choose from:

I wish I saw Sanchez Vicario and Pierce. I read that Arantxa played like a wall. Pierce had just beaten Graf really easily, and she was favored to pound Aranxta.

I never really liked Aranxta because her game was not exciting unless she was retrieving against Graf in one of their epic matches. I came to respect Aranxta's game though. It was amazing how she defended her wristy, push of a forehand.

You're right crappiest forehand of any top player i've ever seen.

I've not seen US open 1994, but the French open 1996 was a fantastic match. One of those when it was sad that someone had to not win.

Wimby final 95, I remember listening to it on the radio and it was just so exciting.

I liked the Us Open final. She was very agressive. She wasn't that agressive in any of the other finals. She just made her rivals to make errors.

Wimbledon 1995. I'm surprised that ESPN Classic has never shown it because it's an incredible match. Arantxa went into a slump after that final but can you blame her? She was emotionally spent.

Well it's very hard to be more aggressive then Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, and Mary Pierce! lol But I agree I loved it when she turned the tables on them and in turn that's how she won that USO final!

Actually I just noticed that in all her 12 Grand Slam final appearences all of them were played against Steffi, Monica, and Mary lol

Steffi: 2-5 :(
Monica: 1-2 :(
Mary: 1-1

If you want to see a match Arantxa won, take US'94.

In RG'89 she basically returned all the balls and frustrated Steffi, and something similar happened in '98 against Seles. Pierce played pretty badly in RG'94, I think she would also have lost against many other players that day.

But at the US'94, you could see Arantxa at her best, attacking the net, taking her opportunities and not letting the 6-1 first set demoralize her.

I think she played even better at RG'96 and WB'95, even though she lost.

US Open 94 because people didn't expect it, and she fought so well to win it. It was also the match where she stamped herself as the best of 1994.
