Looks like we are getting 9 hours live each day on Fox Sports from 9pm until 6am. Then replays for the rest of the day until the live action starts again at 9pm.

I imagine that Channel 9 is also covering the event for about 6-8 hours live each night but can't find info just yet. If anyone has any news on 9s coverage that would be great.

I am hoping that 9 and Fox show different matches... I think they usually do.

And those of us who are lucky enough to have Eurosport will have a 3rd coverage to pick from. Yippee!

I don't have Pay TV, so I'll have to stay up every night to watch the tennis. I hate having to watch tennis so late....I can't concentrate on the game.

Hi Kell - I'm lucky I have holidays so I can stay up late and sleep in. Also I will have 3 x DVD Recorders going in case I fall asleep and miss the action! LOL

I wonder if Australia gets such good coverage because of our tradition of doing well in the past? Or maybe it's just because it's such a sports mad country.

Anyway, I think we should email Fox Sports to thank them for the superb coverage of the Slams and the Masters series. It really is some of the best coverage in the world and I don't think we appreciate it enough. Sure we don't get as much womens tour coverage but despite this we should appreciate what we do get. And if anyone is desperate enough you can still get many of the womens matches from me as I get Eurosport. So there you go... you Aussies are spoiled! Anyway, I am going to email Fox Sports again to congratulate them on their coverage. I did so earlier in the year and they send a message back thanking me so people to pay attention to our emails.

I wouldn't know about good sports coverage, coz you never get any on free to air. But yeah, we do have a lot of sports channels and stuff on pay TV.

Why you get such good coverage would probably would be coz of our sporting tradition. Lets face it...what would Australia be without sport? It's our way of showing the world we're not just a bunch of convicts...we're a bunch of convicts who can thrash England at everything bar soccer :p

Good idea tennisvideos, I am going to email Foxsports and say I am pleased with them (for once)!

We need to hurry up and get a good woman player so we can see women's matches, then again they's probably just show her and no-one else. How old's that Jade Hopper kid now?

What part of australia are you from? We have Llyeton and outside of the slams and the Davies cup there is zero coverage.
I prefer women's tennis and at the FO all we ever saw was five boring sets of men's tennis in a 3 and a half time slot. At the quaters, justine was shown serving out the final game, Serena the second set, Kim a couple games and nothing of the russians. Can you believe even the women's final was chopped. It started with justine up 3/0 and at the end coz there was still time we had to watch Verkerk's final set victory which had alredy been aired the day before. :fiery:
Channel 9 will do wimbledon and i hope they show more women matches instead of showing them play matchpoint.
Maybe i should consider moving to the eastern states!

So glad I'm back at home with my foxtel, I wasn't very happy to be house sitting during the FO, seven's coverage sucked, I can't beleive they didn't show the semi finals live, instead they showed futurama and the making of the matrix reloaded :(

Hi TennisSta

Over the past few years Channel 9 have usually shown different matches at Wimbledon than what Fox Sports show. But you are correct, Channel 7 and Fox showed the same French matches (but Fox Sports showed much more of course).

But it will be good if Ch 9 continue their tradition of showing different matches to Fox so we can get a lot more matches shown. I am sure it will be the case again.

Tennnisfann - if u get Fox Sports you will get great coverage of the mens tour and the slams. But not much womens. You need Eurosport for that and you need to be on the east coast and have special equipment.

I think Fox Sports can only cover Centre Court matches and Court 1 matches that Channel Nine aren't airing live.

If they want they can show the centre court matches they don't show live later in the day when Channel Nine's coverage is off air.

I seem to remember really enjoying having fox sports as well as channel nine - a great variety of matches were on show last year and the year before.

The french was terrible. Ok so they showed a lot of tennis but the schedule of matches we were shown was pretty poor. I really hope Wimby is good this year.

I to am really pleased with the coverage of the masters series this year. It is soooooo good to watch live from the first round instead of just semis and finals delayed 3 weeks later ;)

I'm in Sydney. Mainly outside slams coverage is only Foxtel and only semis/finals but a decent range of men's tournaments - far fewer women's but we do get a few finals. I agree, too much Lleyton and I LIKE him! Where in the "non-East" are you from?

Channel 9 is usually better if I recall correctly. Also, they think more people watch Wimby (probably true) so they probably won't be sharing exactly the same coverage with Foxtel - in other words, we might get some match choice, yay! That was a bit stupid with RG where for 4 hours you could flip between the two channels and get the exact same coverage with a 5 second delay!

Who carries Eurosport?

Penne1, does Foxtel carry the whole week of Masters now? I can't believe I missed that fact!

Yeah, just about everywhere there is more coverage than what ESPN will be showing in the states. That is so not a surprise!

How do you get Eurosport, legally or otherwise, please tell us!

Fox sports are only allowed to show matches channel 9 arent covering. The thing I dont like though is when fox sports are barred from showing certain matches even though channel 9 arent showing them live.

Number1Kim - Yes, Foxtel now carries the Masters tournaments live from day 1 through to completion, about 10 hours live each day.

To get Eurosport in Australia you need a seperate satellite dish and a separate decoder box and a special card. It isn't cheap but it is worth it!

The Eurosport feed in Australia is via New Caledonia, which means it is in French language. But I don't care, as long as I can see the womens matches. :)

i think you're joking, but just for those who think this is true the fact is that without sport Australia would be a top 10 world economy and currently one of, if not the strongest economies in the world despite years of drought. we produce some of worlds best cities (sydney voted no.3 in the world) actors, wines, businesses (BHP, News Corp), leaders, tourism statistics etc etc. there is a big misconception that Australia is only known for its sport. sure we are bloody good at, and most of us are obsessed with it, but that doesn't mean that we aren't better than a lot of other countries at a lot of important things, especially when you look at how small our population is.

I only have free to air tv, which totally sucks! Channel 7's coverage of the FO concentrated mainly on men's matches, the ratio was about 3.5hrs men tennis to 0.5hrs womens tennis.
Even when all the Aussies were out they kept showing boring men's matches, like the Verkerk match, and only showed a few games of the women's matches. I doubt it would be that different if there was a top Aussie woman, like Lleyton they'd just show her and not much else. Channel 9 is a bit better than Channel 7 but they still concentrate on showing every minute of Lleytons matches when there are other good matches on. I should really email them and complain about it! I dont get pay tv coz i dont watch much tv apart from tennis but i'd probably consider gettting it just for eurosport, it sounds good!

Eurosport isn't available via the normal Pay TV. You would have to get a special satellite dish and a special decoder box etc. And it would probably cost you about $1500 to set up. Not cheap. But for a tennis fanatic it is worth it. ;)

i hate 7 when it comes to womens tennis, i'm still not over Kim's Sydney final, they cut it half way through to show some crappy cooking show. well they did in Melbourne anyway.

It was shown on 7, but not live, with play starting later in Paris I would have thought 7 would show the semis live, but they showed Futurama then The Making of Matrix Reloaded they got to Serena/Henin match in the beginning of the first set Live and aired Kim's final later on, I had already seen the result and went to bed, I was still half asleep at work the next day.

but isnt watching tennis more important than work and school? ;) :p
