Just woke up...somebody explain to me this thing about gamesmanship, justine & serenaHulet Jun 11th, 2003, 03:43 PM Seriously. And, I still don't know who won the FO. So, please be a dear and give me a quick summary of the past week happenings. Spirit Jun 11th, 2003, 03:44 PM Shit happened. Serena lost. Venus lost. People got upset. Someone won. Belgium got drunk. Cam'ron Giles Jun 11th, 2003, 03:45 PM  Justine stole the French Open...That's about it... Glenn Jun 11th, 2003, 03:46 PM Justine was the best player of the tournament. Williams fans bitched around. Justine fans smiled. Hulet Jun 11th, 2003, 03:46 PM so, I take it justine won the women's title. Who was the other finalist and how about the men? Who won? Thanks guys. Petrova went on to beat JCap, as well. Venus lost to a Russian, I forget who. Kim beat said Russian to make the final. On the other side of the draw, Justine beat Serena 7-5 in the 3rd, in a sloppy match which ESPN deemed an "instant classic." The crowd booed Serena, for various reasons (line calls, rooting for the underdog, whatever). The controversy arose when, on one point in the 3rd set, Justine held up her hand while Serena was in the middle of her service motion. Serena served anyway. It was a fault. She asked for another first serve because Justine had her hand up. The umpire said he didn't see that Justine had her hand up, and Justine didn't say anything. People have gotten extremely upset about this and much shit has flown across the room. Justine then whipped Kim soundly in an all-Belgian final. Kim and Ai won the women's doubles. Martin Verkerk came out of nowhere to reach the men's singles final. Seriously. Crazy Canuck Jun 11th, 2003, 03:54 PM It was the best RG ever :hearts: Spirit Jun 11th, 2003, 03:59 PM Are you going to sleep through Wimbledon, too? If so, we can compile a summary in advance and have it waiting for you when you awake, along with your newspaper and slippers and a nice big breakfast. You caught us all off guard this time. Here's the other: Serena saw Justine put her hand up, but decided to have a quick go and serve an ace anyway, that didn't work, so she asked for another first serve, Justine, knowing what her evil plan was, didn't allow that. Serena cried in the interview after. Becool Jun 11th, 2003, 04:08 PM Or Justine is a extremely bitch and knowing that Serena could have an ace on her 2nd 1st serve, decided to stay quiet while the umpire decided what to do Glenn Jun 11th, 2003, 04:11 PM Or Justine is a extremely bitch and knowing that Serena could have an ace on her 2nd 1st serve, decided to stay quiet while the umpire decided what to do That's just a repeat of the 1st version, KEEP UP WILL YA! Spirit Jun 11th, 2003, 04:15 PM That's just a repeat of the 1st version, KEEP UP WILL YA! Actually, my post was neither version. If you will read my paragraph of the incident carefully, you will see that each sentence is a statement of a simple fact -- in other words, simply the actions that occurred, no more -- without judgment or pretending to read the thoughts or intentions of either woman. Hulet Jun 11th, 2003, 04:34 PM so, venus lost :( (I already knew this) Serena didn't reach the final :( Ferrero pulled a ronaldo. :( Justine is involved in yet another controversy. :( All-in-all, I am glad I slept through this open, so to speak. :) leslie Jun 11th, 2003, 04:45 PM [Admin edit] tenn_ace Jun 11th, 2003, 05:14 PM Justine was the best player of the tournament. RG was full of suprises......thats it Glenn Jun 11th, 2003, 05:22 PM Glenn did u let an insensitive bastard steal ur password? RG was full of suprises......thats it Glenn, who's Glenn? :p No, I was just saying that there are 2 versions, I didn't say I was defending this one. We just don't have to blame Justine for everything, that's all, she won fair and square, blaming that one call is stupid. Spirit Jun 11th, 2003, 05:30 PM blaming that one call is stupid. Years ago, after the Dallas Cowboys lost an important, close game, then-coach Tom Landry was asked about a controversial call which went against Dallas. His reply was something like, "If the game was so close that a single call decided it, we weren't playing well enough." SerenaSlam Jun 11th, 2003, 05:33 PM if you wanna know the truth. The Tennis match between Justine and Serena when the score was 6-2 4-6 2-4 it no longer was a tennis match. It was a mental obstacle for Serena to get over. And became a match of "sit and hope the crowd beats Serena" for justine. Justine was bogus. And this was her reply. "Its tennnis" Now had this been Serena doing any of this, it would've been OV as in ova with, and the crowd and this entire boards opinions would be exactly what ours are towards justine and probably even worse. They would be thinking Serena commited the sin of all sins had she done any of the Bull Justine tried to pull. Spirit Jun 11th, 2003, 05:41 PM They would be thinking Serena commited the sin of all sins had she done any of the Bull Justine tried to pull. That's probably true. And conversely, would you be defending Serena with the same vigor? This is something I've been thinking about: I find it amazing that almost everyone who has rendered an opinion on this matter has produced a judgment which supports their fave. If the situation were the exact reversal, would all the comments be reversed, as well? I think they would. SJW Jun 11th, 2003, 05:49 PM if Serena did it.....i woulda said she was wrong but i doubt she would....shes really fair on court and honest 100% of the time jenny161185 Jun 11th, 2003, 05:51 PM oh serena slam shut up you just can t get over the fact SERENA was BEATEN by Juju:) and I dont think justine sat there and hoped the crowd would beat serena , she took it to her and wiped the floor :) SerenaSlam Jun 11th, 2003, 05:54 PM oh serena slam shut up you just can t get over the fact SERENA was BEATEN by Juju:) and I dont think justine sat there and hoped the crowd would beat serena , she took it to her and wiped the floor :) naw how about u shut the fuck up. muthafucka don't try comin in and tell me a bunch of ur bull shit like im really gon believe the muthafuckin shit. again you just like all the rest of these lil fucks in here. you don't make no muthafuckin sense. I know serena was beaten, but like MOST muthafuckas and justine very well realize, the crowd is what took part in almost all the damn match. yeah justine played muthafuckin tennis, but when the crowd got serious it wasn't even about tennis anymore. SJW Jun 11th, 2003, 05:55 PM wiped the floor? 6-2 4-6 7-5? ok so what would u call a TIGHT match? ;) Glenn Jun 11th, 2003, 05:56 PM if you wanna know the truth.
