When the board was down, the page they put up said they are on a tiny budget and can't upgrade their equipment so that things like this doesn't happen more often. I can't help but think that these downtimes are just going to get worse. This board is getting bigger and bigger by the day. Really what would most of people do without this tennis board. This is the best place for you chat, get results, start fights, gush about your favorites on the web, etc. I think the creators of this board are doing us a great service, and I am actually not sure why they do what they do. This must be quite a financial burden IMO. So what can we do? I suggest the creator of this board to start a donation box (via PayPal or something similar) or a mailing address for us to send checks/cash. I know the MK Forum (Michelle Kwan) can raise over $1000 in no time at all to help keep the message board and I don't see how this board could be any different. This board has a larger amount of active posters. Every little bit would help....

:wavey:

So what do you think we should do?

I'm not sure I'd care to help them until they get over their compulsion to delete threads/people for no particular reason. My 'empty' thread was a work of art, and took, ooh, minutes (fifteen of them!) to set up. I can't see there was anything in it to object to, since there was - literally - nothing in it.

I could give the Admin's a concrete way to secure a reliable revenue stream, but they've made it pretty clear in the past that they don't engage in dialogue (except among themselves) on "business stuff".

I once came up with a good idea which got rejected but I won't tell any of you what it was as I plan to set it up over the next couple of years for my own personal gain.

But what I will say is...

Why isn't there a sponsorship option, I'm sure there are loads of people on here who work for or maybe even have a say in businesses who need publicity on a global scale... WTAWorld aint a bad opportunity.

How much would they lease a banner space out for per week?

Well interesting, kinda sounds like they don't want help. Well whatever... I really don't see this board being up much longer. I mean what are they making on? Advertisments? Not from my visits, I use Ad Muncher.... :)

there aren't any pop-up ads I don't think....and only 1 a couple un-obtrusive banners at top....

No wonder, it takes time to spend that kind of money.

What is WX?

World Crossing. It's a message board site.

The old CNN posters set up a message board there called world tennis.

There are also tennis board sites at Delphi Forums. Delphi gives you the opportunity to post for free or be a paying member (nominal fee) where you have more posting options.

In a reply after much delay on a seperate issue, they inferred that the software co. (Jelsoft) covers many expenses as they get to "beta-test" new features here.

that's outrageous behavior from the admin not to discuss their business affairs with members of the public

i sent TWELVE letters to Bill Gates advising him to make an offer for Sun Microsystems and he never replied, not ONCE!!!!

I would do a charity tennis event or a telethon.

Neely is "too big" for telethons. Right after I kicked her out of my show, she did one, before she made it big. Only, she was singing, and she had a double-strand necklace. When she was singing "It's Impossible" at one point the two strands, each cupped one of her breasts. I was watching on TV and it was the funniest TV moment ever. Neely did not even notice. No one remembered her performance, only the doube-strand necklace cupping her breasts.

Neely realized later how dumb she looked and now refuses to do telethons. She did entertain the troops in Vietnam, however, so she has done her duty.

Please please Helen call all your one show biz friends and have them do a benefit for the msg. boards. I know you gracing us w/your presence should be enough, but could we ask you to take a moment while you ascend to super stardom to do this ?

Honey, I am there, no ascending is necessary. You have to climb Mount Everest to get where I am, baby, and do not let Anne Welles fool you, with enough dolls, you never get lonely at the peak.

Let me call Lyon Burke, I will tell that son of a bitch to get off his butt and earn his oats and do a wtaworld telethon.

i've got a great idea, wtaworld could open an online store and sell t-shirts just like i do on my site www.carkeyboi.com ra!

and here's the fuckstock, they could sell t-shirts emblazoned with fake porn pics of all our favorite tennis players, that's a sure fire winner! even Anna's calendar makers wouldn't be able to compete with that when they eventually release a genuine topless Anna calendar

fess up, when it comes to making bucks, i ownz yuo all :)

I think it is a great idea and for those of you who aren't willing to donate, I certainly hope you aren't going to be upset if the boards go down again.
