Nice to see Evie guts out a 6-7 6-1 7-6 win over Stephanie Cohen-Aloro :) Great fighting! Next up is Marion Bartoli, someone who Evie almost beat in Florida a couple months back! I dont expect her to beat Marion, but she is certainly in with a shot...

...it's kind of weird that Evie is the only Aussie getting wins on the board the last 2 events :o

why is arendt and evie doing a press conference at birmingham is she evie's coach???

thanx for the pic any of her playing

i hope evie can beat bartoli i think it will be harder to win tonight than win against dementieva which just proves that if you can win the tough ones the draw will open up for you also bovina is out of top half

She played doubles with Evie at RG, and I'm assuming they have teamed up again (haven't checked the dubs draw).

Apparently Evie has withdrawn with a right quadriceps strain.

I saw the match vs Cohen-Aloro. Evie had many break points in the first set but couldn't put them away. However she toughed it out against a player who was a lot more comfortable on the grass.

Something that I found out was Evie did have an injury earlier in the year which put her out for a few weeks, but I don't know what it was or whether it's same injury that forced her out of Birmingham. Anyway, the good news is that because the injury kept her out of action, it put her into a 'special' rankings category which enabled her to be in the main draw of the French Open but also, indirectly, has guaranteed a main draw berth at Wimbledon! (Long story!)

I was thinking exactly the same thing TS. Isn't it ironic that Evie was overlooked for the Fed Cup team in April but has been the best Aussie in the last 2 tournaments on 2 different surfaces! But I suppose in fairness, Evie was recovering from the injury and her form wasn't good at the time.

Let's hope Evie can get a good draw at Wimbledon. Anything would be better than last year!

PS. Don't know about Arendt, she is not Evie's coach but was sitting next to coach Adrian during vs Cohen-Aloro for some of the match.

I didn't know anything about a special rank  Don't players have to be out 6 months? I think she missed a few weeks only...anyway, thanks :)

Oh well, as long as she makes the main draw that's all that matters...

Marion didn't know Evie had withdrawn, she went all dressed up and ready to play only to be informed Evie had withdrawn.
Minutes earlier Evie was sitting just behind me holding and playing with a Baby (getting clucky it looked like ;), she was having fun)

we only founf out she withdrew then too.

It was news to me too but that's what I was told by coach Adrian, unless I misunderstood what he was saying which is also quite possible!

But yes, Evie is in the main draw :)
