They really watered thoes tennis courts to slow the ball in momo's favor. I wonder if they will do the same thing on Thursday. They will do anything to prevent Serena from winning no wonder Serena was so angry she had a right to be pissed. Bunch of cheaters.

Well, normally when it's warm and hot, the courts get dry, you know? That's when it's all dusty and you slide on every step you take. So maybe that's the reason why they watered the courts
And what are you whining about? Serena beat Amelie so stop finding lame excuses

I do think leslie has a point here. If it would be the other way around (serena that would be helped with wathering the court instead of Momo), do you really think they would have wathered it? Thought so :p

Didn't you see how Serena was looking at the court and how upset she was. Why would you water the court before the players go on it is also dangerous. I guess they were hoping she would slip and not continue to play. I have never seen Serena so angry. Even walking back to her chair she mumbled something and grab her towel and threw it over her lap. That was so wrong what they did.

Apparently they also stuffed bananas up the tail pipe of the people carrier that was to bring Serena to Roland Garros that morning in an attempt to stop her even getting to the match. Oh wait no that was Beverly Hills Cop.

I remember now, what they really did was fill the cellar of the hotel where Serena is staying full of barrels of gunpowder that they were going to light and, and....no wait that was Guy Fawkes.

Well I know THEY did something, because THEY just had because THEY are part of THAT group. Itsa conspiracy I tells ya.

I think so, I hope so, but having been vitness to how ice on speedskating arenas can be manipulated to give certain skaters the best result, i am not sure.
but for the sport of tennis good reputation let this ball drop dead. Play, don´t worry

Well the commentators on TV said that they had watered the court just before the match to slow it down.

Jun 4th, 2003, 12:32 PM
It's also a safety matter..when the clay is very dry it's really dangerous to slip away.

Jun 4th, 2003, 12:32 PM
yes, obviously this seed for leslie was planted when Mary Carillo said the very same thing and you could see the reaction of Serena and along with Mary's comment, it looks HELLA suspicious to me. I know they water the courts in the morning but is this the only court that was watered in between matches? If so, that's bullshit.

Josh
Jun 4th, 2003, 12:33 PM
All courts are watered in between matches but they were very "generous" with the water on centre court yesterday. ;)

But as always although you have a point, you say these kind of ridiculous things  "They were hoping she would slip" Please

And you seem to be one hell of a mindreader :p

You are right I am a mind read they are trying to sabotage Serena. The commentators even had the gall to mention that abhorent behaviour by the French. The length that people would go to bring down the W/S but again, Serena prevailed. God don't like ugly. And I strongly believe what goes around comes around. Momo still lost.

Ok first of all leslie..the paranoia is getting a little outta control  :p

Second..of course they want the courts to favour momo..that's not some big conspiracy. If you recall last year at the US open they said that they made the hardcourts faster so it would favour the American players! Every grand slam is gonna set their courts so it will favour their players best if possible.

As far as I am concern that is cheating whether it's done in the U.S. or France.

So leslie, I don't remember, did you make similar comments last year at the US open?

I have no Idea what you are referring to. As I said before if it was done in the U.S. that was also wrong.

bram_born84, It's because I gave them to her. :p

Are we sure thats why Serena had the pissed off look? On the topic, I've never seen her so angry. I mean at one point she threw her raquet down and riped that towel off her chair. I laughed, B/c she's cute when shes mad. ;)

i really don't understand... they water the courts before all the matches.... it's a safety issue, and it helps to keep the surface more even of a bounce... that helps serena!!! she's not used to sliding around on dry uneven clay. sure the ball picks up weight, but this is common procedure.

Well, let me just say I am assuming that is why she was angry. I have never seen her that angry. Even forgot to wave at the crowd after her match was over. And when she did wave well..........you saw it. But that girl was pissed.

The courts weren´t watered in Amelie´s favor... they were just watered because they were thirsty. Nuff said? ;)

Serena is aware that they are looking for her to lose and she is more determine not to lose. Good luck to both finalist. And may the best player win on that day.

Leslie that is the way of tennis..anyway Serena countered the move and won. If anything the watering court move hurt Momo becasue it only pissed off Serena.

I do think if Serena played better on a slower surface (clay) that the courts would not have been tampered with. Ah well such is life and in tennis it ain't fair.

Serena looked pissed to me, but I think it was because the crowd was so pro-Momo.

Either that or she was pissed about missing out on her shopping time and wanted revenge against Amelie so she could "reward" herself.:)

A HEAVIER BALL FAVORS SERENA! Momo like to use topspin and the ball DOES NOT bounce much when it is weighed down with Sand. Justine and Patty and JCF also HATE heavy conditions. Players like Momo and Patty for example like harder clay which really takes to their topspin.

Serena was looking pissed to intimidate AMELIE and it worked. That was all theatre!

It really shows how many of you have played on red clay.
The red clay is always wattered otherwise it will fly all over with the wind.

thanks, sofi
truefriend- justine likes to play in heavy conditions. she admitted that after beating jennifer last year when their match was interrupted halfway through because of a rain delay.

I'm sure watering of the court & scheduling will have little impact on who will be the winner on Saturday ;)

Jun 5th, 2003, 01:07 AM
This thread is stupid. Watering the court to
give Amelie an easier time?. They do that all the
time to all the courts. Who cares if it slow, this is
clay- it's suppose to have dead ball bounces.

If they really wanted to stop Serena,
they would've hosed her down, not the court. lol.

Wow are Williams fans paranoid! Funny, too, how most of them have turned into Petrova fans. ;) Wonder why?

I've noticed the Henin vs Williams is after the Clijsters vs Petrova match in the thursday schedule... So they give more time to Clijsters to rest before the final, they will do everything to continue the SS (Serena Sabotage).

I hope you're not serious. Clijsters/Petrova isn't going to be as popular as Henin/Maursemo so I imagine they want Clijsters to be a "warm up" for the main attraction.

Serena was mad because Venus lost, not because they hosed down the courts, LMAO. She said so on ESPN :p

Hey,

I don't think he/she's name is actually five zero's.
I think it's more like "ooooOOOooo" kind of like
that symbol name that the recording artist Prince
gave himself. oO0Oo is a great poster. Leave
him/her alone.
