I guess judging by today’s performance (haven't seen it yet but the score line and length of match speaks volumes) its going to be Serena.

The thing which concerns me about Justine's stats is that while she's been winning about 80% of points on her first serve, she's only been getting about 50% of her first serves in. She really needs to do better than that to beat Serena. I think she will step it up against her, but I'm not sure if she can do enough to win. I really hope so, but I'm not sure.

Go Serena but I like you too,Justin but this time I think Serena is better than Justin after she beated Momo in two straight set and she still good enough until final :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

True. Serena won't let her get away with hitting too many second serves. I think if Serena is serving well she will win.

Justine can win this :)

Momo was slaughtered..but she didn't play well..her serve was awful and her tactics bad. Justine will be more patient, bring back more balls, use that slice a lot..

Serena will win but I don't think Justine will roll over. It'll be semi-easy, though. GO SERENA!

I think Justin will win over Serena this time around only to lose to Kim in the final.
The reason why I predict this is I like Justine better meaning there's no validity in my argument.
Anyways, hope Justin will bake a couple of bagells for us hugry jacks.

I hope that justine can win but i think serena is too difficult to beat in the slams. but she does have more chance in coming close to beat serena as it is on clay. but to beat her i think serena has to drop her form a little and justine has to play the match of her life. I just hope for her sake that if she beats serena she has to win the final as it will be traumatic for her if she beats the world no.1 and then lose to kim again.

But good luck Justine i know you can do it
:bounce:

I want justine to win it but serenal will probably win in 2

1 its a slam, 2 serena picks up her game.

3 justine has played serena in a slam in a while, i believe since 2001. and serena's concentration and game just rises. If serena played like she did today, and justine plays like she did today beating Chanda, serena will win in straight sets something like 6-3 6-3. Justine last time she beat serena, did nothing but keep the ball in play. She didn't hit that many winners. She was totally reliant on serena. So it will be interesting to see what Justine attempts. If serena is on, justine is going to have to go for her shots, instead of keep the ball in play tennis. Even watching the Justine vs. Chanda match right now, Justine isn't really doing all that contorlling out there. And also Justine has been a lil lucky while Chanda a bit unlucky.

I still think Serena will take her out in straight sets. Comments serena is making suggest she is in total focus mode. And a player is really going to for the first time ever in her carrer step out on the court and actually out player her shot for shot and beat her while not relying on Serena's errors. If Jusitne can do this, she will win. But no one has ever done it, and again just by Serena's concentration level suggest Justine may hardly even win games.

Well, obviously I want Serena to win this. Also, you can never count out a defending champion like Serena who has just gotten better and better in each round. I think that Venus' loss has also motivated her to win it for both of them.

With that said, Justine is probably the best clay court player Serena will meet in this tournament. So if she isn't on her game and playing better than 80%, then she'll be in for a fight. Again, with tennis, it all depends on how these two women will play on that day.

I don't think Justine will feel that much pressure. It's a semi's. It's not in her home country. She's beaten Serena this year. So she should be in form to play a decent game (unlike Amelie).

If Serena makes it to the finals, then she is the favoured player to take it all. Her motivation will be SO high that she'll really be on. Anyhow, that's getting ahead of myself.

So...very like Serena will win, but you can't discount Justine!! It'll be a great match. :)

I didn't see any of the matches yet, but...I printed out the draw and did it from round one, and all of my Quarter-final, and Semi finals predictions came through except for Petrova. I did really good this tournament, and I even picked Harkelroad def Hantuchova, and Zvonereva def Venys. So..I picked Henin. I honestly haven't seen either Serena or Justine play. They both seem to be doing really well though. I would really like to see a Justine/Kim final, but I have a feeling it will be a Kim/Serena one.

Go and good luck to Justine Hénin - Hardenne :) :D :) :D ;) !!!!!

I predict Juju will be overwhelmed in the first set. She will try to step it up towards the end of the set but will end up making more mistakes. Come second set, she will recover by sticking to whatever works on that day, which will rattle Serena. The latter will lose her rhythm and lose that set thru lots of UE's and relentless pressure from a rejuvenated Justine. The third set will start even but quickly will turn in favor of Serena.

Final scores: 61 46 62 SW

See the tape of the SERENA/Mauresmo quarter final match. :)

mauresmo played brutally today, tee rexx. I could've smacked winners off those nervous second serves....

that said, I see Serena winning this one. It's not going to be as easy as the Mauresmo match (though what could be?), but Serena should still do it. And then lose the final to Kim. ;)

Justine had the best clay record coming into this tournament and has had a good one so far. Before today, I thought Amelie and Justine had pretty good chances of beating Serena. After today, I guess not! j/k. But who knows. One thing is clear from today, Serena raises her level at the end of a Slam. Second, Serena apparently hates losing to the same person twice in a row. Beware Justine!

That's what is going against Justine. She also said something in her post match press conference that might rub Serena the wrong way (she said something about something being settled on the court), so that is why I pick Serena to go to the final.

Second, Serena apparently hates losing to the same person twice in a row.

How many players out there LOVE to lose to the same person twice in a row?

Nothing against you personally but that phrase is one of the dumbest oft-repeated ones on this board.

Yes, no one WANTS to ever lose to the same player twice in a row. But I think in Serena's case, she actually follows-through! Don't know who she has lost to two consecutive times ever, except Venus.

Experts out there...what are Serena's stats for consecutive losses to the same player? I'm pretty sure you'll be able to count it on one hand.

I think it's 50:50. Don't forget before the FCC final, most people think Serena was going to win too. Actually I think Justin played better today than Serena. From what I saw, chanda played much better than Amelie, and Justin handled her beautifully. Serena played well too, but not great. I hope she raise her level a bit because she need that to beat Justin.

Amelie didn't do *anything* to give Serena any reason to have to play any better.

Hingis at Sydney and AO 2001.

Capriati that same year at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Those were pretty big.

Still doesn't take away that the line is near the top of my "stupid phrases" list.

justine is not amelie. we cannot look at the way serena defeated a beyong subpar amelie as indication of how well both serena and justine will play the semi. justine has the same chances of winning this match up as serena. serena is great at grand slams but justine is great on clay (better than serena this season and better than serena overall, imo). serena has been stepping her game up eversince the sugiyama game and justine will need to step her game up against serena. i think this will probably be the best match up the whole tournament. and i think it will be very, very tight and close.

I meant it as an understated/sarcastic joke. Of course no one likes losing twice in a row, but Serena went out there (apparently) with some "I'm gonna kill you" look on her face and blew her off the court in no time. I do not think we would have seen Serena that determined if she had not suffered the loss to Amelie a couple of weeks ago. Maybe beating Serena at a warm-up spell doom if you have to play her next at a Slam.

Ahh get a backbone people! I knew Maursemo would bow out quickly. And just like the Schett match, Serena didn't play all that fantastic, it was more that Mauresmo played laughably. If she didn't double fault she'd send her next shot 3 meters out. Justine is much more mentally stable and confident than Amelie, and I think Henin really is finding a knack for paying against Serena.

Justine 7-5 6-3.

Oh wow, how did Amelie go from being one of the great hopes to knock Serena off, to now being just subpar and everyone knows shes not mentally tough? Lets give Serena J. Williams some fucking due people. While Henins backhand was impressive, her serve was not, she got very lucky that Rubins forehand was off and that Chanda contiously kept going to the net and hitting shots right to H-H so she can past her. That will not be happening with Serena on thursday.

I prefer Serena to win because I know that's what Venus wants since she can't win RG herself. Also, it would be nice for her to further cement her place among the all time greats. :)

But I like Justine too, and I would be happy for her if she wins. :)

LOL it IS funny how Amelie goes from being a serious challenger to the sisters, to a nervous laughing stock

you guys need to keep the girls for more than a few weeks

totally expect Serena to come out with the same fire in her belly that she did with Mauresmo.....Justine REALLY didnt do herself any favours beating Serena...and in straights too??

Serena wont maintain her level, she will up it. the only thing perfect in her last match was her determination factor.

Justine maybe a better clay court player (blah blah blah blah sings Sunshine Anderson "heard it all before") but usually in the womens game, being a better player all round beats being a better surface player. and Serena has the clay slam so what would suggest Justine is better?? ;)

Serena 6-4 6-3 :)
