will Pam and Mary Jo keep saying that Clijsters was "supposed" to win the Australian Open when SERENA beat her?
Was the damn match rigged and SERENA blew the deal and P & MJ lost a lost of their easily earned dough?

And to top it off, they keep repeating how Kim won in L.A. about nine months ago and not mentioning the loses she suffered to both VENUS & SERENA in that time span. :(

Oh well, watching a WILLIAMS win GS titles does drive some folks nuts. :)

Yes, and how dare they try to make the sport exciting by enticing viewers to take part in a rivalry and get excited about tennis, and it's elite players. Damn them!!!!

LMAO. yeah seriously now. i mean we all know that they love Kim, but if they love her that much, shouldn't they keep this aside and not show what a stupid idiot Kim was that day??? instead of saying Kim should have beaten Serena, why not say what an incredible comeback from Serena. i mean she is American isn't she??????

But they were also saying how tough Serena is in big matches, especially the Grand Slams, which is why Serena won the match in Australia.

It's amazing how you piss and moan and hear what you want to here..........

Please, those two are jealous because they never won a big title (neither of them won a GS right) and Serena has won 5 GS. That is why they hype up Kim which I don't like actually, they only create more fuss.

See, its the job of the TV commentators to build up both players chances, because if they said it was a given Serena would win, why would people tune in?

TeeRex you are so right. This "Kim should have won the AO" statement by Pam and MaryJo gets on my last nerve. If Serena hadn't placed so much pressure on herself in winning the AO, Kim never would have even gotten to 5-1. I'm so sick of this "shoulda, woulda, coulda" bullshit. The reality is Kim DID NOT win the AO. Plan and Simple. And like another poster mentioned, why aren't they carrying on about what heart and mental toughness Serena has in coming from behind to win the AO. Although one poster suggests they indeed do this, the fact is they don't go on and on about Serena's mental toughness the way they talk about what Kim "should" have won.

Frankly speaking, their dumbasses shouldn't be tennis commentators.

Hey Teerex, finally you've got your answer. There was an interview with kim in our newspaper today. Just read it and find out why kim lost to serena in the AO and should have won:p
(Don't attack me, I'm only joking ;) )

Het Nieuwsblad 3/06

Clijsters refuses to choke in the world of top tennis.

"I'd rather lose a Grand Slam than my dog"

Kim Clijsters is on the edge of a whole lot of changes. And her life was already gaining momentum.
This week probably her first Grand Slam: "I'm not thinking about a final yet, and I like all the Grand Slams."
Soon her own house in Opitter, close to dad Lei and mum Els. "The furniture has already been ordered."
After Wimbledon also the number one ranking if fortune will smile upon her: "That would be unbelievable!"
But before we are that far: today against Conchita Martinez to reach the semis.

Kim, you were so cool again after that thriller against Maleeva in the previous round. Do you understand people who think you're putting on a mask?
But, come on, that's not true at all. What's a tennis match actually? Read the papers, look at Marc Herremans sitting in a wheelchair. Compared to that losing a tennis match is nothing more than a mouse dropping (muizenstrontje??).Nothing more. Do you know what made me suffer during the Australian Open. Not my defeat against Serena Williams in the semis, after leading 5-1, but my dog Senser who died while I was in melbourne. There will be heaps of tennis matches, but that dog will never come back
Are you serious now?
(fierce) But yes! (she uses a typical Flemish expression here, it's really funny 'cause you usually wouldn't say this in a press conference "Maar ja, jong! God, I thought this was a thousand times worse. Before I left with Lleyton to Australia half November I told Senser, who's already older than he should: Make sure you'll be there when I get home. I mean, I'm very happy in the tennis circuit, but I'm sure I'll be happy later without tennis too. Sports is sports and not the most important thing in life.
The tour is often called a jungle.
I don't think so at all. I get along with everybody.
Also with Conchita Martinez?
For sure. We are often joking in the changing rooms. She's a nice girl. The Williams-sisters? No problems with them, both really nice girls.
Was there sort of a malicious athmosphere in the changing rooms after venus' defeat?
I didn't notice, but it was already rather late in the evening. I'm sure people talked about it.
In the ATP-tour, among the men, the athmosphere seems to be more friendly
That's correct (laughs). I've already heard loads of good stories from Lleyton. Those guys have dinner together, they make fun, they go out for a beer. Or Gustavo Kuerten plays his guitar and everybody starts singing along spontaneously. I'm trying to create this feeling, this athmosphere among the women too.
So you're taking a bit the lead in this. Have you actually become more mature since you lost here to Jennifer Capriati in 2001?
Gosh, I think I have. But I can sometimes behave very childish, you know.
Two years ago your father said: "My daughter is half a girl and half a woman."
I do have some more experience in life by now.
Why has Lei already left to Belgium?
Somebody needs to take care of my buldog Beauty, no? (laughs) But that's not the only reason. My house is almost ready, some things still needed to be taken care of. There will be a tropy cupboard, yes. In the basement. Only the most beautiful trophies, the cristal ones, will be in the living room. With some small spotlights. I don't need my girl's room in my parents' house anymore. It's full with old rubbish and stuff for my trousseau (?). To marry Lleyton in the future? Not yet, no. And I will also be often with Elke and my parents. But my own house will be ideal to welcome my friends.

"I'd rather lose a Grand Slam than my dog"

Now you couldnt imagine Serena uttering those words, could you! She is more likely to cook and eat her dogs for breakfast on the morning of a grand slam final, just to give her an extra bit of oomph!!

I am sick of the both of them, especially Mary Joe. She likes to take digs at Venus because she beat her right before she retired, but neither one of them ever won a Grand Slam. I know Pam was in the USO final lin 1978 and I think Mary Joe was in the AO final in the mid 1990's, but that's it. I have a little more respect for Pam because at least she has 21 Grand Slam doubles titles.

 ...how Pam's and Mary Jo's comments have be of the "backhanded" variety, and that they constantly "harp" about "what shoulda happened at the Aussie! So the pissing and moaning is a result of the "poor job" they tend to do at "live commentating"!!! Pam and Mary Jo ALWAYS dwell more on the negatives about the Sisters as opposed to the positives...!!!

What a rather "tasteless" comment to make about Serena. Were you even aware that Serena is an animal lover...??? And, has two dogs of her own...???

Is this thread a joke? Williams fans can go on and on about how Serena beats herself everytime she loses yet it's a crime for Pam and Mary Jo to say Kim should of beaten Serena? Everytime Kim's WTA Championship win comes up on this message board somebody says that Serena should of won that match, even though she didn't have a big lead or didn't have matchpoints... the match wasn't even three sets. If it's alright for people to make such an assement about that match then it should be ok for people to make the same assement of the AO match... and Mary Jo and Pam are just that, people... they aren't robots... they have opinions just like the rest of us and believe it or not, listening to tennis matches' would be terribly boring if all they ever talked about is how good Serena is.

Oh please!! Like you've never thought/said Serena should have won a match she lost...Kim had a 5-1 lead and had 2 match points in that SF. If Serena had that lead and lost it, you, too, would say she should have won the match.

All I'll say is that how is everyone so sure that Kim would have won the Australian Open had she beaten Serena. Even if she had beaten Serena she could have lost to Venus in the final. After all, only ONE player in history has defeated the Sisters back-to-back at a Grand Slam. The Can't-Miss-Swiss :hearts:

I think you confuse negativity over objectivity. The only "harping" and "poor jobs" I see are some of the Williams fans who like I said, hear things they want to hear and really don't pay attention to the commentating.

I just don't like how much emphasis on how Kim beat Venus at the year end championships...I don't really consider that as 'a beating'. Kim's win over Serena was fair and square as far as I'm concerned.

Also, I do think they're not giving Venus enough respect by saying Kim should have won the AO...EVEN IF Kim had beaten Serena in the semis.
