View Full Version : Has Kim even played a Top Ten Player yet?

Will Kim only play a top ten player if she reaches the final? That is ridiculous! And people say there is no parity in womens tennis when seeds are dropping left and right.

She can only beat who she's scheduled to play. If her seeds drop out, what can she do?

Blame Venus, blame Jennifer, etc - but don't blame Kim. ;)

I totally agree Seles! You really can't blame Kim! And if the Russian girls can beat Venus and Jennifer, maybe they are playing on the same level as a top ten player should (and which Venus and Jenny obviously didn'!)

Who cares ? Last Venus played only one top ten player before meeting Serena in the final.

On this forum I've heard a zillion times that last year Venus reached the final, so ...

Next year nobody will remember this fact. The only thing people will recollect is the fact that Kim reached her second final at RG at the tender age of 19.

I agree with Seles, it's no Kimmie's Fault

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BLAME KIM!

She had enough top 10 players in her half of the draw!

You have to blame Venus, Capriati, ... not Kim!

It may not be her fault, but it is nevertheless true that she hasn't had to play half as well as Serena, Justine & Nadya to get this far. That isn't to say that she couldn't have played that well, but just that she hasn't had to.

Yep, but people are saying crap about Kim because of this, and that's not fair! And in sports, we just have to be fair and to be able to respect other players!

Kim already prooved that she is able to beat anyone in or out the top 10! She had an amazing second half in 2002 & a great 2003 till now! She is the true #2 in the world at this moment, just give her this respect!

Being a biased Justine fan, it annoys me that Kim always has such luck in draws. I don't respect her any less for it, but it does annoy me. With Kim's draw, Justine would almost certainly be in the final; this way if she does make it past Serena she'll be so drained she'll probably lose to Kim. That's not Kim's fault, I agree, but it is annoying...

whatever.
this happens quite often in tennis tournaments. A few seeds lose and then the road is much much easier for a particular player or two.

except for losing that one set to maggie, Kim has been totally dominating her opponents, which is exactly what she should be doing given the level of competition she has faced thus far. what should have been really a fairly tough draw (although I don't really think that Lindsay on clay is the toughest of match ups), it really has opened up nicely for Kim now.

i didnt get that Cybelle was complaining, I think it was just pointing out a fact that proves that their is way more depth in womens tennis...than we are led to believe...

I remember Australia, where Kim thrashed everyone until the semis...where she lost..early play is not always and indication of anything...

She never played a top ten player in this tournament. But still Maleeva
who is not top ten bargelled Kim Clijsters. This shows that if she
had played a top ten player she was going to lose.

Maybe she may lose anyway to Patrova or if she happens to get to the
final, she will see the usual face---THE DOMINANCE---

One thing I will promise you Kim Clijsters' fans is she will not win this
tournament. And she may not win any grandslam this year. She should
play her best to win it cause the remaining grandslams are booked
already. You know what I am talking about.

KIM IS IN THE SEMIS AND SHE BEATS WHO IS IN FRONT OF HER

SHE PROVES SINCE TWO YEARS NOW EXCEPT FOR TWO MONTHS LAST YEAR THAT SHE IS A DESERVING TOP 5 PLAYER. I KNOW IT ANNOYS PEOPLE BUT SHE IS HERE TO STAY
LIVE WITH IT :D

just say it bold for once;)

As it worked out they all hit one hot player? Serena plays Justine plus who ever the player was today who was imitating Amelie for 1 1/2 sets.
Justine gets Serena and Chanda. Kim gets Petrova who looks more like a top ten player than more than half of them if you allow for slumps, injuries and Amelie imposters (plus Conchita who doesn't look out of place in a clay QF)

As always, you just can predict who can't win this thing.
As usual, it's the belgians who havent even a chance..
And as usual, you just don't know a good argument to support your "visions".
That I call pathetic

I started writing an outraged answer, but, God, why should I? Replying to a childish post in a childish way is nothing for me.
Little Cybelle, let the grown-ups watch tennis. ;)

Fuck off!

I have a feeling all your faves lost?! So this is what you're reduced to, bothering other people who can count on their favorite player?! Tsk tsk Find new favorites dear.

Look you have to win 7 matches to win a slam. No matter who comes up, if they've made it to the semis you should treat them the same, or more, then a top 10 player, as they have probably had tougher matches, and are more into match play. Kim has played Maleeva, who is never easy, and also losing 6-0 to Maggie, would perhaps =of waken her up more then if she had not.

it's not kim's fault.if she wins her matches and the other top players don't what can she do??it was the same in rome...'till the final she didn't meet any top seeds but she can just play and win with whom she's scheduled to play.and u know, maybe this is not an advantage to her:'cos she arrives to final without difficult match and maybe mentally the other player is advantaged!this's a stupid thread.

When did I say it was kim's fault? In fact I dont think anyone in this thread blamed kim for her draw. That would be stupid. I was simply point out a fact. I even said it was good because it means there is more depth in the women's game. A lot of you are over reacting.
