As the match Kim-Conchita started at noon, I thought I could combine it with my lunch, so I went to this café where they serve food. They had the TV on but can you imagine: they had not programmed the channels where the Kim match was shown. I was FUMING!
I mean, I would watch Petrova-Zvonareva any time but not if I know that at the same time some channel is showing a quarterfinal at Roland Garros with Clijsters in it.
I had already ordered my food but cancelled my order (I was lucky the guy of the café knew I was often there when there is soccer, so I did not have to pay the lunch).
Then I went to 5 or 6 pubs checking if they had a TV and finally there was the Irish Pub close to my office that had Eurosport and I could see the match from 3-2 on. I was on the verge of crying I think when I finally found a pub with a TV and Clijsters on it.
I thought Kim played really well. When she won, I felt really moved. Last year, Roland Garros was so bad for the Belgians and it seemed that what happened in 2001 was a fluke (the fans knew it wasn't) but I think Kim has made a statement by getting to the semi here once again, and also by making it to her second Grand Slam semi of the year.
I am absolutely thrilled that Kim has come so far.
GO KIM!!!
