I can't believe it! I thought for sure they would show some quick highlights of Kim vs. Conchita ... then show the last game of Petrova vs. Vera then onto SERENA VS. AMELIE

They just said that they are showing Kim vs. Conchi instead of showing Serena vs. Amelie live  :fiery:

Well, The Kim vs. Conchi match is over. Kim won it. And the match bet AMelie and Serena has not yet started. How can it be possible?

What the hell? do they have a clause in their contract that states they cannot show live tennis? :fiery: :fiery: I wish USA still had the coverage! This sucks! They are even acting like this match is live.

pf i know

Well lets just hope that when Amelie-Serena start, they will switch courts and show that, and just give score updates of Kim-Conchi(like we need them lol) the rest of the way. Thats what they did with Blake's match hewas playing and they were in a first set TB, and they just cut away to show agassi pf

I can't believe this either. Why not just show the Clijsters match after the LIVE Serena/Amelie Match?!!!!
Absolutely Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think they will do that, they are acting as if this is live and the first match up. I'm sure they will show Andre live though.

According to match stats this match was 1hr and 9 minutes! Hopefully Serena and Amelie will be warming up and we won't miss much.

Now I wonder if Serena v. Amelie match will be on after the live Andre match? I'm not sure which station to tape.

Hey guys no worries! Im sure we can watch BOTH the entire matches of Kim/Conchita and Serena/Amelie..they always show the entire match of Serena anyways...now I don't understand why they can't show the Serena match considering it's about to start and then show the Kim match afterwards..but then again ESPMEN has always been stupid. :D

My e-mail to the link given in this thread

Okay, I wake up, turn on the TV to see life tennis of Serena versus Amelie, instead ESPN shows taped match, instead showing Serena versus Amelie, which is happening live. Complete irresponsibility on ESPN part. I know the schedule has to be filled, but why note show live tennis, then the taped matches. I am fuming, since ESPN never shows live tennis, and also, since it was said last nite that the coverage of Serena/Amelie would start at 8.
I would like to know what the theory is?

Yes, I am turning my Comp down too, and clean up my room for once, listen to music, and do some homework, and pretend the match between amelie and serena is live when I watch it.

I calmed down ;)

Uhh I have a strange feeling now that watching the Kim/Conchita match would be a good idea to watch first then Conchita's match..lolll But DAMN! Out of all their tough matches on sunday why couldn't they save it for today when they finally get a shot of almost a whole day of coverage! lol :D

My letter to ESPN:
-------------------------------------
I am writing about the complete irresponsibility on ESPN's part to cover live tennis as it happens. I know the schedule has to be filled, but why not show live tennis as it's happening, then the taped matches as time permits. I *fully* expected to see live tennis (either S Williams/Mauresmo or Rubin/Henin-Hardenne) when ESPN went 'live' (and I use the term *very* loosely) this morning. I was eager to watch a match and be rivveted and enthralled with the live atmosphere of it all. However, you opted to show Kim Clijsters d. Conchita Martinez 6.2 6.1 in a rather dull and lackluster match that ended about 2 hours before your station went 'live'. At the time you signed on from Paris this morning, it was 1-0 Serena in the first set. That would have been a great place to start live coverage, n'est-ce pas? I actually am very discouraged that ESPN now owns the rights to most of the Grand Slams, and I pray that you never get your hands on the US Open, otherwise you'd cock that up too.

Let's face it, those who watch tennis - know tennis. We know when matches start, and follow scores live on various internet outlets. Then your station pretends to show us 'live' coverage from stuff that's happened 3 hours ago when you have the choice to show us an actual live match.

I don't care if it's Serena, Venus, Jennifer, or more preferably a top Euro player, we want 'LIVE' coverage. There's really no reason that when you sign on and there's a match at 1-0 that you can't show that first then fill time with "re-runs".

Get your stuff together ESPN, because the previous home of Roland Garros, USA Network, far and above beats your current level of coverage. Your attempt at coverage is juvenile in its decisions and pathetic in its execution of those decisions in comparison the job USA did for many years.

A truly dissapointed and disenchanted viewer...

Great letter Seles. If they don't want to show live tennis they should let another station take over. :(

Well said Seles! For ESPN2 to show us that awful match between Clisjters and Martinez instead of showing Williams - Mauresomo live was a horrendous move on their part! Now I don't even really want to watch Serena dismantle Amelie. My interest in this match has been ruined by ESPN2 and their decision to show a one sided win for Clijsters instead o f Serena versus Mauresmo live. They are too stupid to believe! :fiery:

Good emails, guys! I started a whole thread about complaining to ESPN about their shitty coverage. My power was out this morning when coverage began, but I was shocked to find Serena vs Amelie on almost two hours after coverage began. They seem to be doing a full tape delay today. They aren't even going to show Agassihole live  They're probably happy about that since he's getting whupped :D

Keep letting them know about your dissatisfaction! Boycott their Wimbly coverage if you feel strongly enough!

then, they showed henin easily beat rubin (taped) instead of agassi-coria live (they just started the third set) and then they only showed highlights of verkerk's 8-6 fifth set win

why can't espn show live coverage when eurosport does such a great job?

I don't understand what all this bitching is about! Why not stay off the computer and watch your damn tv so you won't know the result before watching it! It will be in effect "live".

The problem is that I don't work at fooling myself! If I know the match is over its over for me and I'll look at the score. Plus when a match is taped they will do something dumb like take an extended break before the last game and do some extra talking letting you know who won the match. Then there is the issue of their coverage ending at a certain hour and someone is serving for the match, hmmm can I figure out that so and so won based on the fact that coverage ends at 2pm and its now 1:50pm??? Yes, I can. Those are just a few of the ways taped coverage messes up the "Live" effect.
