i miss Hingis more REASON is she was my favourite player... and not only that.. Graf was around for a long long long time and i got to see her plenty of times whereas with Hingis she hasn`t played really aslong as she could have.

Miss u HINGIS!

I'd say Hingis too. Graf had a longer, more complete career, so I wasn't so sad when she retired.

I missed Steffi when she retired cos... She was Steffi! And she had nice hair.

And for a long time I didn't like Martina (cos of the steffi thing) but then in about 2001 I liked her and... It sucks that she stopped. She was a character and a pleasure to watch.

So... It's hard but I miss Martina more. Steffi had done it all and had been around for years and years... I feel Martina had more to contribute to my tennis enjoyment. *translated into... Diva thinks Martina's hot*

I miss Hingis more cos unfortunately, she falls into the Monica category of "we'll never know". She just ended abruptly. And to think she was hardly injured.

I miss them both. Steffi always found a way to win, no nonsense. You never doubted her resolve. She could put someone in her place like no other player. She never made excuses either, unlike many of today. If she lost, she lost, no poor-mouthing, Steffi almost always respected the winning opponent. I can think of about two times in her whole career when she was a bitter loser. Today, I can think of about twice each this year for most of the top women where they dismissed the loss. It was a very different generation.

I liked Hingis' arrogance and smart mouth. She also ripped tons of chicks too, mostly easily. She was great to watch. It is what all the top players think, only she was open about it. When she was in her prime, all that arrogance was deserved. She could slice and dice anyone, and it was usually easy.

Those women were great. I miss them both.

Slightly silly question, if it was a serious one. Don't mean to be rude :)

Steffi had a full career, with 22 slams, including being victor in her last but one.

With each slam that goes by, and each birthday nears, there is a feeling that Hingis is missing out, wasting her prime - and should be playing!!!

So that's an easy answer, really - we all MISS Hingis.

However, we CHERISH Steffi, as we do Navratilova, Evert, Sanchez-Vicario....and soon, Seles.

I used to not like Martina Hingis.... but somehow I feel sorry for her being forced to retire due to ongoing injury!!! And now I do miss her a bit on the tour... coz' she brings a game other than the powerful stuff...

I do miss Steffi a lot on tour though!!! But she retired at the very right moment (after achieveing her last Grand Slam title at French Open 1999 and reached the final at Wimbledon 1999).... We'll all remember her glory days.... Also, knowing her having a fantastic family life now..... I am very happy!!!

I miss the old Martina. The one from 2001/02 can stay away.

Steffi ended her career in a great way, so I don't really miss her either.

Steffi without a doubt.
didn't really like Martina until about the last year of her career then i began to appreciate her talent & it was sad that she retired so early but Steffi was my girl though!:)

I think martina, as its more sad, Steffi had agreat career and lived out all of it, somehow I can't help but feel that Martina's is unfinnished. Therefore I want her back!

Well, I watched that '99 final at RG with both Martina and Steffi, and it felt so weird... you know, that was but 4 years ago and now it looks like history already. I've never been a fan of Martina's, but I miss her being a different kind of player out there, one that thought on court rather than outhit her opponent. As for Steffi, I used to cheer for Monica, when they played each other, but inevitably, when someone has done so much in a sport, you know that when they leave they're gonna left a blank that's hard to fill. I think it would be great if, for a tournement only, one could have back all those players who've meant a lot for the history of the game at their best. Imagine a clash between the best Seles and the best Williams, the best Navratilova and the best Clijsters, stuff like that...

I miss them both alot they both played great tennis but Hingis can change all this if she just stops running scared. Martina suck it in and come back.

I miss Hingis, Stefi was 31 years old . She 's done everithing but never was fun to watch as Martina .

Given that many posters here are probably too young to remember Steffi's prime, the 40% she's gotten is probably a virtual tie among those who fully remember both. (I'm still not convinced that Marti is gone for good, even if she thinks so now).

Steffi for sure

There is no doubt Steffi had a long and accomplished career but she did it all with an "unsmiling face" and a "dour" personality  But I'm happy for Steffi now....I'm sure she is "happier" and more fulfilled as a mother and wife than as a tennis star! :D

Martina Hingis had so much fun on the court and she too accomplished so much in her short career...but she did it in "spades" with astounding :hearts: charisma and grace and all those "extra activities"....what's not to miss!!

I hate the implication that some people make. Steffi loved the game of tennis, and enjoyed playing. She didn't need to fist pump, or stare down her opponents. All she did was play the game, and she did that with grace and dignity.

My vote goes to STEFFI GRAF
I also miss Martina.

I enjoyed Martina's personality and her actual game much more than Steffi's.

I think she really showed everyone beautiful tennis, Steffi was a great player too, but I think martina's contribution in today's game is missed more. :)

No disrespect to all the heartfelt Steffi
fans;but I miss Hingis. Why?

Well...I enjoyed the colourful character
that Martina was. She wore her feelings on
her sleeve, said everything on her mind,
dared everyone to take her on, had public
mini fueds with Richard WIlliams, played doubles,
had an all court game, entertaingly smug and catty
at the wrong times, actually seemed to love tennis and
was a witty, smart person.

Steffi for me was like a Serena/Venus dominating
tennis minus the humour, openess, wit, charisma,
street smarts, energy, entertaining press conferences
and cool on court outfits.

Steffi was a Greta Garbo type character.

"cool on court outfits."

lmao except for the long sleeve t-shirt since I can't believe steffi had accepted that, the adidas outfits martina was wearing would have been for steffi 10 years ago;)
