I REALLY HAVE JUST GOT SICK AND TIRED OF FANS AND AGAIN FANS ONLY OF OTHER PLAYERS AND THOSE FANS THAT JUST OUTRIGHT DON'T LIKE SERENA WILLIAMS TRYING TO GIVE UP A DUMB ASS ARUGEMENT THAT SERENA IS JUST BEING ARROGANT AND DOESN'T BEAT HERSELF. THESE FANS IM TALKING ABOUT ARE THE ONLY ONES OUT THERE THAT DO NOT AGREE WITH WHAT SERENA IS SAYING.

When you have other tour players, and commentators out there agreeing with Serena that she is the only player out there that can beat her, it just really backs up serena's comments more and more. Its a matter of FANS opinions. But the facts are really coming from the PROS, that is THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

This thread now can be turned into postings of Player Comments and Comentator comments on Serena Williams dominance and Serena Williams being the only player out there right now that can beat Serena Williams.

I'll start things off with a couple of comments:

Mary Carillo: Matchup (Serena vs. Kim Australia)

"As well as Kim Clijsters is playing and as bad as Serena is playing right now, Serena is reallly beating herself right now"
-followed by Mary Jo Comment:
and that is what makes it hard to beat Serena, cauz in Kim's case if Serena picks it up, its hard to try and pick it up then sticking with the same game plan of getting the ball back and hoping for an error

Lindsay Davenport: (during French Open)
"But, I mean, it's kind of up to Serena. I mean, if she's playing well, doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of people that can beat her. If she is not playing well, one of those girls will get enough balls back to win. So I kind of think it's in her hands."

There you go, now everyone else can post the "proof" comments out there that we all know about.

Now here is a lil tid bit note for you dumb fucks out there:

This thread to to post only comments players and commentators have made specifically about Serena Williams dominance and Serena being the only player out there that can beat her right now.

How is someone else's opinion proof of the truth?

And one more thing...

How come Serena beats herself in the first place? I mean, she chooses to lose? How absurd does that sound? I'm sure that she is trying her hardest to win any match that she is losing, but in the end, does she decide to lose? No, she fights as hard as she can and then she loses. The other player beat her.

A winner is worth the same as an unforced error.

the fact that FANS don't know shit what they are talking about.

Here is an example. Fans of Amelie think Serena doesn't beat herself when Serena looses to Amelie, but Amelie makes comments around "when she started making errors that got me back in the match" and comments like "i knew I could only beat her in the last two games of the third set"

Amelie fans will say that Amelie shouldnt' say stuff like this, as in it puts her confidence down, when in fact its the truth that Amelie got back into matches with serena b/c of serena and not amelies game. if you saw the ROME match, you will see how evident it is  More than anything if she doesn't make comments like these "the turth comments" she will have these thoughts in the back of her head instead of having them out of her head and out to play the match knowing what all needs to happen for her to win

"the other players beat her" account on her unforced errors. and if you knew about a tennis match, when you hit the ball you choose to hit it here and there. if it doesn't go in, its not a matter of you choosing to hit the ball out, its a matter of you hitting the ball the wrong way etc....

 at your comments, you try and contradict a lot, and just sounds more and more like B.S. to me than anything else. If anyone were to think that beating theirself is them choosing to loose they need to be put in the hell hole

This means absolulty nothing, so what if some player says that no one has a chance against serena, they dont know. So we are supposed to count every loss serena has from now on in her career has being entirely her fault- dont be sooo stupid. Serena wasnt unbeatable last year and she isnt this year--she is just HARD to beat.  . The players have learnt from last year, they needed to be fitter and take more chances against serena, kim has improved her game and justine has beefed up a litte, mauresmo is getting her mind back together, these are imporvement others have made so they can beat serena. Serena IMO wont have another year like she had last year and the beggining of this year. Why cant yu just accept that serena wont win every match she plays and the ones she does lose might becuase of the unthinkable , which is SHE GOT OUT PLAYED!!!! :fiery:

WAIT A MINUTE!

Don't lump us all together. I know I've seen it posted by other Momo fans, but here it is from me.

Q. Serena said before that when she's lost this year, it was her fault, that she felt like she played badly and made too many unforced errors. When you played her in Rome, do you feel like your best game matched up against her? If she plays well, when you play her in two days can you actually beat her?

AMELIE MAURESMO: Well, I think if she plays her best tennis ever and with no mistakes, no, I cannot win that. But obviously she cannot do that every day all year long, even though she does it very often. So, again, I just take my chances here.

I do think that when Serena plays her best she is unbeatable right now. It is up to the others to raise their level and beat her, Amélie included.

I just want Amélie to strive to do her best and be the best she can be. In the meantime, I'm not complaining if Serena plays less than 100% against my girl...

I don't know why there's such commotion over which player beats themselves, etc. Players who win, win and those that lose, lose. if you're in a Grand Slam final and you "beat yourself" with errors or some other thing that didn't go your way, you LOST. Period. If it was errors, YOU didn't execute well enough. That "I beat myself" stuff won't mean jack when they're etching the other player's name on the trophy. Come out, play and hope you win. If you don't, you can't win 'em all and then try again next time.

By the way, usage of the capitalized PROOF in the thread title is a travesty. It should only be used when there's some bitch-slapping going on or something else silly (silly in a comical way, that is).

What you are all forgetting is that this applies to ANY player. ANY player who goes on the court and commits unforced error after unforced error and cannot keep the ball in play is effectively beating themselves, taking themself out of the match, however you want to say it. If you go on court and double fault every point on your service games, an exaggeration I know, you cannot tell me you did not beat yourself.

However having said that it still means the opponent must be strong mentally to take advantage of the situation and not fall apart or let the other persons bad play affect them. There's nothing worse than a match where not one but both players are spraying ball after ball after ball.

Venus played bad but vera stayed strong and took it. Its as simple as that.

making tons of unforced errors means you were simply not good enough that day that's not some credibility worthy achievement, it means you sucked and your opponent did not so deserved to win :o

If you go on court and double fault every point on your service games, an exaggeration I know, you cannot tell me you did not beat yourself.I say you did only if you did it on purpose. Meanwhile, the other player won the match by NOT double faulting on each of their service games. They served more effectively than you did and won. Trophy and check in hand, the other player is still looking for excuses.

"Beats herself" those words alone are stupid.
If you make errors you lose to your opponent, it's the game of tennis.
Everyone makes errors so everyone is beatable.
You can't say everytime that you made a few too many errors that you beat yourself.
No one can play at their best all the time, and if you biased fans think Serena beats everyone when she's at her best, then I might as well say that Justine hasn't even reached her 100% best yet and that she beats everyone when she does...
So stop making these silly threads, tennis is a game with two players and there's always one winner and one loser, there's no such thing as beating yourself.

you can have excuses but that doesn't mean you deserved the win.

I have excuses for all matches my favs lost but I can clearly see they never deserved any of these wins since they blew it :o

this pretty much sums up your post, this whole thread and, in fact, this whole forum. we are merely fans, and we can analyze all we want but we dont know what really happened and we dont know what the player was really thinking when they said this and that about another player, and we really dont know a players personality, etc. so why dont we just shut the fuck up and stop being nitpicking bitches over the tiniest thing?

[this is directed towards everyone that chooses to make a mountain out of a molehill just cos they have nothing better to do]

The fact is that Serena, just as any other player, can only play her best tennis if her opponent makes it possible. If, for example, Justine plays the ball deep and Serena gets less chances to make a winner and makes more UE's then this is not because Serena was beating herself but because Justine found a way to beat Serena. The idea alone that Serena can only lose if she has an off-day is totaly unjust. A player is the number one player because she wins most of the time compared to the other players, not because she is invincible. Maybe the power of Serena may give her an air of being almost invincible but let it not blind you. Unfortunately there are some people, including Serena, who ARE blinded. Mentally it can't be a good thing if one day she starts to lose more often. Modesty is a greater power.

no one is disuputing the other player won. That is not the issue. The issue is whether the other person lost because their opponent OUTPLAYED THEM while they played their best tennis or did they lose because they had a very bad day. If you can't understand that then there is no point in arguing any further because the point is simple.

take martina hingis first round loss at wimbledon. are you telling me that martina played her best tennis that day or even good tennis and just got beat by a better opponent? please. she had a bad day because of other issues going on in her life. is that hard to understand? tennis is not so black and white all the time. sometimes players lose when the are playing their best and sometimes they lose when they play their worse. The point is that when you play your worse and lose YOU KNOW THAT you your'e poor play is the reason you lost the match not your opponents play.

Is this that hard to understand?

of course its not serena alone or any player alone. The opponent still has to step up and win the match. Why do you think you saw all those matches a few years ago and sometimes now when a tio player is playing like crap and still wins? Why? Because the other player played worse or the other player didnt take the opportunity and choked or whatever.

also if your opponent is keeping the ball deep then you should adjust and be prepared just like when an opponent keeps drop shotting you you should adjust and be prepared.

also its not about being invincible. no one is invincible. and what does this have to do with her power? Lucic has power and she is not number one. having power does not make you number one just ask martina hingis.

Look this is deabte no-one will ever know the answer to cos no-one is objective. I can safely say that Serena was her worst enemy in Rome against Momo, Momo played shit, but it was nothing compared to how Serena played. It was almost how she used to play 4 years ago, just creaming the ball.

However Chareltson Juju did mix it up, and to come from 3-0 down to take it 6-3 is difficult no matter who you are playing.

well said keith and irma and I totally agree with you Xman. Also there is no PROOF this is true. as Xman was saying if henin or anyone other plays the ball v deep and dont give serena(or any other player) short balls, ofcourse she's going to make errors,Serena is not invincible to this.

This is really hard topic so discuss objectively but let me give it a try:

The way I look at it, no player has ever, ever played their "best" because they always have unforced errors and DFs so I think Serena just plays closer to her best more often than an other player and that's why she's number 1 and dominating the tour.
