At least ONE women's qf will be on center court----

Serena vs. Mauresmo:)

It's more than a 50-50 all the rest will be on court Lenglen.

The Serena-Mauresmo match could get very ugly IMO.

The French want a country woman to win so bad they can taste it. Don't forget that Pierce wasn't REALLY French after all. Add
in Serena's relatively harmless mimic job a couple of months ago, her #1 status, and her habit of calling lines and this could be a champagne cork ready to pop with crowd participation at the drop of a hat.

I'm looking forward to this one-may the best woman win!

In the past Jordan they have put men's matches on center court and put all the women's quarters on court Lenglen. They rarely make exceptions.

serena can handle tough crowds especially this one since she knows that it's not against her but they are pro amelie :o

great smash

Not entirely correct.

The used to have the most important Women's quarter final on Center Court every time until 1999

Then in 2000, because of rain on Monday some men's matches still needed to be finished on Tuesday, which made them decide to have all four QF on Suzanne Lenglen.

Apparently they liked this system so they have been doing it this way ever since.

The surprising thing is that in their tournament schedule for this year the have 1 MS and 2 WS on both Ph. Chatrier and S. Lenglen

I couldn't agree more.....I hope this Parisian crowd will humbled once again until they learn what the word "sportmanship" means.

Oh please, and who is going to teach the French crowd about sportsmanship, that great "sporting" US crowd that arbitrarily booed all the French players in the lead up to the Iraq conflict? Get real will you.

If Kim doesn't get a center court match then I hope she gets a court 1 match. Lenglen is the hell.

:wavey:
it's true about lenglen, but i believe on canvas yesterday, they said during the game of justine that all quarterfinals will be played on the 2 biggest courts, so on chatrier and lenglen..
serena-momo will definitely be on chatrier, but think kim and justine will be placed on lenglen

If 2 matches are going to be on center court than I don't think both Kim and Justine will be on Lenglen court. One of their matches will be on center probably Kim v. Conchita.

I'm very excited about the Serena vs Amelie
match. I hope it lives up to the billing It's
an upsized moment for Amelie. The crowds were
very supportive of Amelie so far this year; but
you just never know with the French they might
just turn against her too if they think she's letting
them down.

Serena vs Amelie is the most likely one to be on centre even though it will prob be the most exciting match Vera Vs Nadia will defo be on the second court!

What's so bad about the Suzanne Lenglen court?? I for one like it..I think because one year Arantxa won most of her matches on Lenglen. :D

Rollo

Nothing is wrong with Lenglen by itself Julian. However it is the SECOND court. And on a day when two men's quarters and all the women's quarters are on the past scheduling sent a very clear message that the women were second class.

Nothing against Nadia and Vera but that's quite disrespectful to Kim, Justine, Conchi and Chanda :(

I guess they planned the quarterfinal from that quarter to go on center from the very first day, so they decided to be consistent ;)

no it isn't. Nadia and Vera deserve it. they came up out of nowhere, and beat the best, so they deserve to be on centre court. and plus they pretty much know that Kim and Justine will make it to the semis.

That's rubbish, it isn't certain at all they will win.
I'm just disappointed Kim has to play on that court again, after she said she didn't liked it, she felt pretty bad on it, and played her worst matches on it.

good. but may be bad for Mauresmo. Putting her on this giant court, i think her nevers will definetly kick in. and serena, it will drive her even more to find out that she will get to play amelie on center court with this huge crowd against her.

Serena says she really loves it. And when she destroyed Amelie in Paris, from the start of that match, Amelie was feeding off the crowd, but in a way serena was to. It allowed her to really pick up her game. So if that happens, it could be a quick win for the Princess.

Maybe the schedulers were thinking about the crowds watching these matches. Obviously, Serena and Amelie were going to be scheduled on Chatrier.

Assuming you could only put ONE other ladies' match on that court and that you anticipate a large number of Belgians crossing the border to watch both their girls it kinda makes sense to chuck both Kim and Justine's matches onto the same court. Otherwise you may get a mass exodus from one stadium to the other.

As a result of this, Nadia and Vera get to be the other match on Chatrier.

cynicole, I too thought of the "put the belgians on one court" reason ;)

Naldo, I don't agree at all. Justine-Chanda is the number 4 against the number 8 of the world. Kim is number 2 and Conchi is a former GS winner. I'm not contesting the 2 Russians deserve to be in QF but they still have it all to prove...

Oh well, now I'm certain I can see both matches of the Belgians completely live

I'm not happy about Kim being put on Lenglen again :fiery: However I'm sure she'll be practising on it, so it might not be that bad.

In truth though the Vera/Nadia match is probably going to be more exciting than Kim's match. Conchi will be hitting moonballs, which means probably a lot of long drawn out points...*sigh*

So they pretty much know that Kim and Justine will be in the semis??? People also said that J-Cap and Venus are "pretty much for sure" in the quarters........... And we all know how that turned out....... I'm "pretty sure" that both Chanda and Conchita are going to make these quarterfinal matches interesting, at least, and both have the potential to pull off an upset.

I noticed the matches start at noon Paris time, so ESPN will start coverage at 2 pm Paris time. Lets hope Petrova-Vera is LONG so we get Serena and Momo live!
