Whats your fave slam?

Jun 1st, 2003, 09:58 PM
Hard pick - because the Aussie and French are my fav's - but I had to pick one. So I went with the Aussie Open. But I like the French Open just as much.

1 = Wimbledon, French, Australian.
4. US.

I like Wimbledon for the tradition, atmosphere, blah, but the French usually produces the best tennis. Think my view is distorted slightly, being British, because we get to see so much of Wimby and so little of the others.

2. Aus Open
3. Roland Garros
4. Us Open

Jun 2nd, 2003, 02:16 AM
us open- highest quality, best coverage for me
roland garros- long rallies are fun to watch. plus sliding is cool.
aus- funny rubber surface lol
wimbledon- blah, blah, blah. the stalest of all tournaments; i don't like the quick points either. but it's great because i get awesome coverage, and petey had quite the time there. plus goran's awesome run...

I voted Australian for patriotic reasons and also (mainly actually) because it's the only one that doesn't mostly take place in the middle of the night for me, and I like the levelling effect of the surface.

However, I also really like Wimbledon for the traditions and because I like grass tennis. The rain delays are a pain though!

Jun 2nd, 2003, 09:02 PM
I quite like all the slams.

Wimbledon is great because of all the tradition (and the TV coverage is great with a choice of five courts.)
Roland Garros because you get the best possible rallies. AUS Open because its such a nice place, and just after christmas. Perfect way to start the year - a fortnight of top tennis!
I like the US Open but its my least fave slam because it think its too busy, and I don't like the grounds very much.

1. Wimbledon :worship: :D
2. French Open
3. US Open
4. Australian Open

I adore the French Open. Wimbledon's pretty special too, but any Slam which has me as a former champion must be fantastic.

Wimbledon is the only Slam with Kornikova Korner. The K in Korner is deliberate, alliteration, to make the hottest Korner in the world more accessible to Jealous women by being witty.

Jun 2nd, 2003, 09:56 PM
Shut up John. You're a sexist pig! I get to do Wimbledon coverage on the TV. You get shoved in a radio thing with Clare 'horsey' Balding.

I get to do it on TV from 9pm onwards. I therefore get the bigger audience. Obviously people think I'm the more talented one, otherwise I'd be shunted onto morning time television where my legitimate ratings competitor is Fern Brittan and Philip Schofield.

Jun 2nd, 2003, 10:03 PM
Well John, by 9pm I'm out on the piss with Pam, so ha! You get to spend time in a studio with Pat Cash. I mean, puh-lease! Pat Cash! No one likes him. Cash Corner. That could be your new one.

You get the highlights. That's the version for people with a low pain threshold. I get real coverage. I'm the face of tennis.

Cash Corner isn't amusing, do you know why? Because Corner is actually spelt with a "C" where the hell is the wit? The humour? Going out on the piss with Pam hasn't rubbed off on you.

Anyway, Chris Evert's up at 9pm, so you see, all the champions are still left at 9pm. It's why you have to go home early, so we can celebrate how fan-fucking-tastic we are. You - who won two mickey mouse grand slands - and Pam who won NONE - singles - aren't invited.

Jun 2nd, 2003, 10:20 PM
By 9pm, I'm tucked up in bed with Mr Tiddles. I need all the sleep I can get. I get tired very quickly.

Jun 2nd, 2003, 10:24 PM
I love all the Slams. Especially the women's tournaments.

Jun 2nd, 2003, 10:30 PM
Pam's a legend. As am I. We're winners and unlike Evert, not whores.

Jun 2nd, 2003, 10:50 PM
Wimbledon by far is the best slam, its got the history, the green green grasss and most importantly the British public!!!!-just wait until yu see the fresh untouched centre court on the opening days play, it will be magical. :-)

OMG! How can the U.S. Open not be winning this poll?  It's the best tennis and the toughest tennis in the world! :bounce:

Jun 3rd, 2003, 12:37 AM
well the cat, that's because the US Open doesn't have such rareity as RG and WImbledon do. soo many tournaments are played on hardcourts, so thats why i think it doesn't carry as much weight as RG and Wimbledon do, and also Oz
