View Full Version : Players of the bottom half should have had a day off...

I think that's why all topplayers of the bottom half of the draw had a bad day. Isn't it the first time that they correct the order of play before the semifinal? I've never known that...

Three of the four topplayers are out (Venus, Lindsay and Jennifer), and Kim didn't have an easy match as well...

I think it was wrong to do that so early...But I'm very happy with the way it went. I am a fan of Kim and Vera. Now they both have all chances :-)

What do you think?

I doubt that's the reason they played bad afterall in other tournaments they don't have a day off either.

and I don't know why they sometimes put them all on sunday and sometimes not (like in 98)

Lindsay may have been able to have more treatment if she knew she had a rest day.

Still Good luck to the remaining players:)

Zvonareva, Petrova, Martinez and Maleeva also didn't have a day of rest, and the top players should physicly be strong enough to handle it, ...

best best better

They've got to 'balance out' the 2 halves of the draw at sometime, and I actually think this is the best time to do it: At the round of 16 before we get really deep into it.

I don't think the lack of rest for the bottom half had much to do with the results. We've just witnessed a fantastic day of tennis where all 8 matches were close and competitve, to varying degrees.

I know but they even didn't know before they wouldn't have a day off...And yes they should be able to compete every day but they had to wait all day because of that...The other player has to wait as well but you can't forget that they can't lose anything...I don't know but I'm just a little bit surprised about all this

But I'm happy with the things as they are (like I said) Happy that Kim made it and very happy that Vera beat Venus :-)

When do the men get balanced out? I think they should have all women's round of 16 on Sunday and all men's round of 16 on Monday.

It's not fair that late into the tournament the bottom half of the men's draw gets an extra days rest.

I'm not saying that Kim will absolutely play the final! I'm hoping she'll play the final but I'm realistic enough to know that it won't be easy!!

Uhm, did anybody said that? I mean if Kim has Vera in her SF, she will have to play very good tennis, last year at the US open it was also close.

You are always so attacking when talking about Kim, it isn't her fault that she is the only top seed remaining in her half of the draw and that in the other half the seeds are still in it.
If she hadn't picked up her level of play of today (that was awful in the beginning), she was also out.

if she plays petrova she has to play very well too at least when petrova plays like she did at times against cappy

and conchita with all her experience is never a player you can underestimate either!

Well I'm sorry I just forgaot that it isn't allowd to be realistic when talking abut Kim
and why don't you read the papers tomorrow and you will see that 'she's in the final yet' I don't have anything against Kim, I'm just realistic (sometimes it's hard to see negative things about yor favo) and I hate the Belgian press who is always talking about Kim :)
That's all

but kim is not responsable for the belgian press. I thought she was boycotting a lot of them:)

I am realistic about Kim actually, she will have to play a lot better against Conchita and certainly against the Russians.
Actually, what newspapers do you read, in my newspaper they talk equally about Kim and Justine. I shall look tomorrow and I shall say it when I see the headline 'Kim in final already'.

I know you do like kim but that Justine is your fave ;) I actually wanted to say that the press is changing. Also in the news Justine gets much more attention. There was a report about her birthday, about how popular she is, an interview with Rodriguez... Actually, they talk less about kim ;) and by the way I watch the VRT news and I read "Het Nieuwsblad" :D

No way, and overall the players in the top 8 seeds in the bottom half had an easier route through than their opponents.
