Last 4 meetings between Lindsay and Martinez

1999 Los Angeles Hardcourt QF Lindsay Davenport (USA) 6-7(4) 6-3 6-2
2000 Indian Wells Hardcourt QF Lindsay Davenport (USA) 6-2 6-1
2000 Philadelphia Indoor Carpet SF Lindsay Davenport (USA) 6-0 6-1
2000 Fed Cup (WG-F) ESP vs. USA Indoor Carpet RR Lindsay Davenport (USA) 6-1 6-2

Pam, Lindsay won her last 3 matches against conchi so easily and only dropping 7 games in total!!! I know they are all played on hardcourt/indoor surface but here's proof that Martinez won't upset Lindsay today

pfff....Outdoor Hardcourt is LD's best surface and red clay is her worst, while Conchi's best is red clay....not to mention that their last match was more then 2 years ago, before Lindsay had her surgery.....

Lindsay wasn't hobbling (3rd round) or unable to serve properly (2nd round) then though and Conchita is painful to play even when you can move and is experienced enough to play a sick player. It depends how fit Lindsay is tomorrow and the last two matches at FO 03 are not encouraging.

Lindsay will smack conchita's moonballs and like she said herself, she'll approach the matches on clay with the same mentality she has when she's playing on hardcourt... that strategy worked very well in amelia island and i'm hoping it works here again!

This match is not on Conchita´s hands that´s for sure, if Lindsay comes out hitting the ball way there is no way Martinez can win. If Lindsay comes erratic, she will lose.

For the people who are talking about LD's
foot- did you watch the match "live"?

Sure there was an toe blister or whatever it
was; but during the match the tennis arm
was damn fine. LD didn't need to move to hit
1 shot returns. The Dechy match was all about
LD's incredible tennis shots. She didn't have to
be in proper position to hit winners.

Conchita will kind of have to do more than jerk LD
around the court to win. LD will still serve
the aces, and do the one shot return regardless
of the injury. Is Conchita suppose to drop shot
every other return? The weather has made the
clay really dry. The balls aren't bouncing as high
as day 1. Ld serve will have a huge impact on this
match. I think the stats will show that she won it
purely on serves, and the occassional winner against
Conchita's first serve.

I really love Lindsay :)

But we've gotta be a bit more open in this. Conchi did give Serena a bit of a run in the 1st set at the Italian Open (not to mention she df Dannie in straight sets). Lindsay also has a "weak" (by her standards) record at RG - remember the 1st round loss to Dominique Van Roost (my favourite Belgian) in 2000? Conchi's done very, very well at RG. I think if Conchi's gonna win, the score'll prob be "2-6, 6-4, 7-5". If Lindsay's gonna win, it'll prob be "4-6, 6-3, 6-4." or at her best "6-2, 2-6, 6-1" or "7-5, 7-6 (9-7)".

But anyway, GO LINDSAY!!!!!!!!! (note: I seriously don't think Lindsay's got a chance against Kim if she reaches QF).

the soft clay is good for her foot, so just hope for the best. :wavey:

I dont see how Lindsay has any chance, not when Martinez is playing so well and Linsday is injured.

- Lindsay: Oh thankies darlings!!!!!!!! I lurve you all sooooo much for your support.
- Me: Well, you're such a nice and talented player......unlike SOME people *glares at RG crowd*.
- RG crowd: *does usual crappy mexican wave* boo, hiss, weeeee, whatever.
- Lindsay: *sigh* sometimes, I think I'm too nice....maybe I should be all attitudy like Serena so I can get some momentum goin....
- Serena: YOU GO GIRLFRIEND *click click, snap, snap*.
- Me: *looks at Serena's sexy butt* Rrowwwww.
- Lindsay: *shakes her head*

i wouldnt say she has a weak record...besides that one 1rd loss she's done pretty well (quarters and semi) + she hasnt even had the chance to play the last few years.

i saw lindsays match yesterday and i dont understand why everyone keeps focussing on that injury  it didnt look like something to worry about to me...

it could be a tough match against martinez but im pretty sure lindsay will pull it out.

the courts seem to play like hardcourts so lindsay is in the advantage!

court n.1 is the fastest of RG,it helps Lindsay for sure.then I dont see how Conchita can beat her...unless Lindsay is injured.but if Lindsay is the same of yesterday, she'll win.

neway lots of ppl on this board already thought that she was going to lose to Tulyaganova in second round so i think they r biased in their comments

conchita has got no shot. she's won eight games from Lindsay in their last three matches. this one will be closer, but it'll never get to the point where Martinez is looking like the victor.

conchi has beaten the following players over the past 3/4 of da year, some of dem on their fave surfaces:

dokic
hantuchova
capriati
daniilidou
coetzer
kournikova
dementieva
majoli
patty

so of course she'll beat davy 2day :p

This will be closer than those matches cited above, due to the surface and Conchita's new training program which is letting her hang in there longer. That said, I'd still give the edge to Lindsay.
