View Full Version : Tomorrow is extremely interesting at RG, and we here in the US won't be seeing it!

:fiery:

NBC will have taped coverage again

They'll probably show Verkerk-Schuettler and the Agassi match instead of Vera-Venus and Nadya-Kim :fiery:

i'm going to europe in a week! why can't rg be later in the year! (and wimbledon coverage sucks in croatia cause eurosport doesn't carry it and croatian tv usually only shows croats)

first of it's nadia versus jen, and yeah that's what they'll probably do, but i highkly doubt that they'll show verkerk-schuettler match, because they aren't americans, and they aren't well known. agassi will probably suck up all their air time, and what a shame

NBC is showing Andre and Serena while ESPN will show Venus, Jennifer and Lindsay (of course, gotta be tape delayed from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. ET  ).

was up CIGAW!!??

NBC did good today showing the Venus match and interview.

But John Mcenroe and Mary Carillo both are very annoying. They both should take a chill pill...

I hate NBC more than I hate ESPN  Are they going to show the women's final taped again this year?

the women's final wasn't taped last year! it was LIVE starting at 9 AM EST. I think they play around 2 PM Paris time. :)

I just hope they don't show Eric Robert Rudolph press conferences on my coverage. I'm glad he was caught but during Cap's match, they had the cop who caught him talking in one square and the other square showed the match. You could barely make out the points because the square was so small! They better not do that shit during Ree's match!

OMG, I missed todays matches. I can't believe they did that! We have sooo many news stations in the U.S. that you would think they would just have a little blurb at the bottom and say more news on MSNBC! Totally insane!

Well even if it's gonna be taped coverage it's still coverage. They will be showing women's matches moreso than men's matches tomorrow.

Besides, you don't always have to follow the scoreboard or find out beforehand what the scores are. You can just watch it on tv and it will be a live experience for you. Just don't be tempted by going online to check out the scores before you see it on tv. It really is that simple.

OMG, I know! they had Jen's match on mute and I was so pissed off! and the people in NC talk slow as hell... but at like 1:00, right before they showed Vee's match, they stopped the press conference... I was glad but what if Vee had played first? I was so annoyed.

Last year, the women's final was tape-delayed -- it aired at 11AM ET if I recall correctly. I've heard that it's going to be live this year. They have seniles golf, arena football, and some worthless horse race that are all later in the day and can't be moved back on tape delay.

LMAO at this thread.

Someone mentioned the coverage earlier: Serena and Agassi for NBC and Capriati, Venus, and Davenport on ESPN.

Both championships will be live this year, at 9 am EST.

And at least some of you got the Capriat match. When the Eric Rudolph press conference came on, my affiliate just cut to straight feed from MSNBC.

But hey, if I wanted to see her match, I could just switch to ESPN at night

The good thing about taped coverage here in the US is that you get to see most if not all of the women's match being covered. Otherwise, when LIVE, the network seems to leave the women's match to cover the men's, returning to the women's only in time to see matchpoint. As much as I would like to see a completed LIVE women's match, the odds are basically nil. Of course we know the networks will show a LIVE Agassi match all day long. SEXISTS PIGS!!!!

they're showing Lindsay's match.

Sitting through it once was painful enough. Going to ESPN for highlights in the vain hope that they will mention more of the drama of the men's draw, I am beyond irritated that not only are they showing the matches again, they are pretending it isn't taped.

It is nice to see Davenport, though; I doubt we'll see her again unless she makes the quarterfinals and they have no choice. That's the only good thing about having the draws separated by sex during the quarters, semis and final: you have a better expectation of what you'll get to see.

Why, I believe they might even have to break down and show Ferrero on Monday. Not holding my breath, but what else are they going to do with 7.5 hours of coverage?

The women's final was taped last year. I remember because I was at work monitoring the match on my PC and I saw that Serena won and I called home to talk about the outcome of the match with my sister and she was mad at me because I spoiled it for her because it hadn't come on yet. It will be live this year though.

WOW!! That didn't happen on NBC Chicago. They only talked little bit about it between Capriati and Venus' matches. Things like that piss me off also.

Yeah, last year's woman's final was taped delayed 1 hour here, but the men's was live. And this year, it looks like the women are tape delayed 1 hour again. I think the women's final is at 2pm Paris time, which would be 7am for me...but the TV guide lists it from 8am.

The final should be live. Period. I guess I don't mind the other rounds being taped (I would prefer live of course... but coverage is coverage)... I just wish they wouldn't "pretend" it's live. Like who are they fooling?

Sounds like you are right, but NBC has been advertising that the finals will be live this year. Someone should do research on this.
