View Full Version : What's a challenge more: drawing previous Slam winners, or drawing those in top form?

I was just thinking about one of my favorite players on the bottom half of the draw, and whether or not she would have an easier time getting farther had she had to face those in the top half of the draw--she lost today. On the bottom half of the draw, the main threats besides Clijsters are former Slam winners who haven't had a recent Slam victory--Jennifer, Venus and Lindsay. On the top half, you have the winner of the past four slams--Serena Williams and the only girls who could take her down this year, Amelie Mauresmo and Justine Henin. The top half would be hard because it's all girls who are playing their best tennis, but the bottom half is very hard to because it's all girls who have been there, done that, and usually step it up in the Slams. Then I thought about that comment that Evie Dominikovic made, that she was happier to to have played Venus rather than Serena. But I think, if I were a tennis player, I would want to be on the bottom half period. Do you think most players would want their draw to look like the bottom half?! This year, do you think the players have more a belief that they can upset Jen, Venus or Lindsay than they could upset Serena, Mauresmo and Henin?! Given that they're a pretty "up there" player

definitely in form player, I mean I am sure the players want to play Mary pierce or Iva Majoli right now than Magui Serna for example
