I'm at work and couldn't see the match, but I just read where she is hurting really badly and was considering forfeiting the match. If this is the case, that would explalin why she is playing so badly, but if she really injured, she should have not played the FO at all.

I agree. If Venus is not fully recovered, she should not risk further injury.

The match was live on ESPN@. Venus played through the 3rd set. She did not appear to be in pain....We'll just have to wait for the interview. I have not heard Venus say she was still injured.

Did you see the entire match? Because in General Messages, someone said that Mary Carillo (who was commentating) said that Venus was in so much pain that she was cosidering pulling out. If she didn't look like she was in pain, then that sounds better than what I have been hearing.

Venus showed no signs of any pain at all!

Mary Carillo is a dumb fuck hehehe

Venus just played erratic against a consistant aussie

Venus showed little signs of pain from what I could see. Either Carillo was tripping and was taking a mental holiday to Warsaw, or she was watchig a diffrent match.

Venus didn't look injured ... just making lots of mistakes (and getting angry at herself).

Venus looked, ok, moved very well as always, but made to many unforced erros, she was going for too much.

Uh-Carillo generally knows what she's talking about folks. And I don't know what match you saw Ausboy. Both women were finding the bottom of the net on routine shots the whole match.

Venus isn't exactly the most expressive person. I'm not saying she was in a ton of pain, but it's possible. And after 20 years of sniffing around for locker room gossip me thinks Carillo is more likely right than wrong.

Mary Carrillo commented that she had heard that Venus was suffering from shoulder pains prior to the match. Venus wasn't showing any grimaces or any sign of pain, accept for her erratic play, which Mary said could have to do with her shoulder injury.

With Venus down 0-2 in the first set, Mary said that Venus could pull out. Why she said this, I don't know. Perhaps she was overestimating Venus' injury or will to play, but Venus won the set...lost the second, but won the third set pretty easily 6-2.

Seriously, though, Venus was not playing that great. She has Evie, who made major mistakes on major points, to thank for the victory. She will have to cut down on those errors in the next rounds.

No signs of pain or injury at all!! Just an out of form Venus who only was able to step it up a bit in the third which she had to otherwise the winner would have been an other. Thanks good the match was over couse it wasn't really entertaining to watch...
