One of the most interesting 2nd round matches. Especially if you think of their Australian encounter.

lindsay is more consistent but if iroda plays like she knows (rarely these days) lindsay is a goner

Sorry for Lindsay, but i think she will lose.

this is the one match i've been looking forward to the most, and you kno what, i might even wake up early at 5 just to watch it. Do u think espn will show it? Lindsay is american. I'll juss get up, turn on the tv, if she's on i'll stay, if its off i'll go back to my room and sleep again.

I'll say Lindsay.... She has a good record on clay so far this year!!!

I'm going with Lindsay...I don't see any reason why clay would benefit Iroda more than Linds...in fact I think it will simply widen the gap between Linds serves/groundies and Iroda's...

i reckon Lindsay will win this one :)

Lindsay had more winners than errors in her first round match, the only player I think who di that well. SHe is playing well and she WILL WIN I hope

i would really love for iroda to win (though i dont think it would happen) as it would clear dokic'c pathway a little

Clay is Lindsay's weak point physically and mentally. Having said that, when these two played in Australia, Iroda was playing femnoimal tennis, forcing lindsay to play great as well. But Lindsay's weak points were showing in this match, and it was on hardcourts, lindsay's best surface. Physically Iroda had her beat, and mentally out there she had Lindsay's number by 10. If this match is anything the same, Lindsay could be out in straight sets. This match is in the hands of lindsay davenport. If she is on and Iroda is on, lindsay will win in 2 tough sets. But if Linsday is off and Iroda is on, we could see another three setter, or just Lindsay gone in 2. If Iroda is not Iroda (which we have not seen Iroda to many times this year) Lindsay will be lucky to even loose 5 games :)
But having played the last match and it beeing so close. Both of these players know what they have to do. Lindsay for 1 was getting a lot of free points down in australia just like Iroda was on serve. But this is clay, the serve is not as effective, and we could be seeing a lot of breaks of serve. And I don't think Lindsay moves as well as Iroda on the red stuff. Seeing how tall Lindsay is, she doesn't even move that well on hardcourts, and in Australia again Like i said before. Iroda had her beat physcially, so I expect the same here. But Lindsay doens't need the speed if she can be the one out from the start to the finish dictating most or all the points out there, coming to net and finishing points off in positive ways and keeping her head up.
With all this said, Lindsay has more things to accomplish and get done than Iroda does, so im picking Iroda in 3 sets, with a fairly easy 3rd set for the Uzbekistanian!

Last time they met Iroda came from an injury, now Lindsay is in that situation, in addition this is supposed to be Big L`s least favourable surface to play on. Putting iy this way Iroda should be favourite, but taking her inkonsestency into the picture I would leave the betting and just enjoy the match :)
Shouting, screaming, cursing and praying for Iroda :worship: of course ;)
Play, don`t think dostim Iroda  :bounce:
