Svetikova stuns 4th seed

Hedviga Svetikova sent shockwaves across Roland Garros yesterday when she upset Katarina Molik of Poland at the French Open juniors.

The 16 year old Slovak used heavy groundstrokes and ferocious determination to knock off the 4th seed in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5.

Svetikova credited her victory to a thirst for revenge. "Katarina beat me two weeks ago in Strasbourg, so I was looking forward to evening the score," she said. "I went into the match expecting to win and that attitude paid off for me, especially in that tight second set."

13th seed Caroline Mutola of Botswana awaits Svetikova in the Round of 16.

'I just want to say thanks so much Katarina for being such a good partner with me, and also thank you to my coach who helped me to regain my mental strength after my tough time in the singles and the professional event. Without your help it would not be possible for me to have won this, it means a lot to me! Also I want to say thank you to Doryssia and Anastasia, as always you are a great team always there until the last matches and I am sure you will be in these matches many more times to come.'

I can't believe it! I won the junior french open. I am so happy at the moment that I can't put it into words. Meghann played so well until she had the 5-1 lead in the second set and then she really stop attacking and she got very tentative and that help me because she was so powerful and precise in the first part of the match. I saved a lot a match points and that makes it even more special. I had a great tournament in doubles with Mirjana too. We played really well but we lost to the eventual champions in a close match so it's not that bad.

With Nicoletta retiring, I'll join the pro tour in Eastbourne so Birmingham will be my last junior event. I'd like to thank everyone for their support and congratulations and a special thank you to David, the co-tournament director for doing such hard work. I'll unfortunatly not be able to defend my title next year but I'll try to win the big one instead! Muchas gracias!

I would like to congratulate Juliana for her great win at the Roland Garros. She is a great player.I'm sorry because I have been just promoted pro, and even if this was the goal for this season I'm really disappointed because I was quite successful in the junior tour and I met a lot of friends. Now everything will be more difficult but I hope I'll find new good friends and doubles partner.I'm happy that Juliana got promoted too so we can continue our battles in the pro tour. The only regret I have is of not having played a good Roland Garros.I really wanted to reach at least the semis but it wasn't possible so it doesn't matter I hope to win it in my pro carrer.I would like to really really thanks David who has always been very very kind with me and I'll miss you all.I'm going to play my last junior tournament in Wimbledon and then I'll start my new carrer.Mind there is my sister that is coming to the junior tour that is very very tough to beat. She plays really well and she hits the ball really hard.I think she may cause some damage in the junior tour.
Bye to everyone.

Katarina Molik responds after winning the Rolland Garros Junior Girls Doubles title:

"I am so happy and shocked that we have won this tournament. I would like to thank Natalya for being such a great partner, we such a talented team. I am really proud of us as this was a tough win, especially that third set tiebreaker, ANastasia and Dorrisya are very talented players and we knew that this final would be very difficult to win. But Natalya and I have really proven that we are to be contended with, as we have won a tier I title previously. I am really happy that we have really shined this year and I hope to have some more great results in the future. I would like to thank my coach, trainer and my boyfriend Andy Roddick for all their support, my family and all my close friends. I am just so thrilled to have won my first grand slam title! :D"
