View Full Version : Serious question: Is there a 'good' age to get married, have kids blah?

Car Key Boi

i'm fortunate that i get to meet a lot of amazing gurls, hot, smart, interesting, and responsible. some are nice, some are "dirty", some old, some yuong, but i just cant picture getting married to any of them

in fact, i cant picture myself getting married at all..

when i ask my single friends the same question as to why they haven't settled down yet, most of them reply "i havent met the right gurl yet blah" but i assure you that in my case i have -- a few times...

i've just turned 30. I'm supposed to be thinking about this stuff now. On one hand i love my life just the way it is, but on the other hand, if i'm not careful, i could see myself in 20 years becoming some sad old fucktard who spends all his time surfing internet porn or paying yuong hookers to go down on him (yes, i know some of yuo are gonna post that i'm already a sad old fucktard who blah blah blah :) )

so for now, i don't really wanna get married blah, but i'm wondering if i should before it's too late.....

thoughts on this kinda stuff?

opinions from gay bois and lesbos also welcome

I think it is different for everyone. I just got tired of working, to be honest, and my shelf time was coming up. I'm still hot and all, but not like yuo need to be for my business. I didn't mind being single, but being single was a big financial responsibility. I pegged Ronnie and figured it was my way to stop working, so I got pregnant and trapped him. It was a selfish move, motivated solely by money, but once we actually lived together and got married and Ronnie, Jr. came, things came together and I am really happy, though not at the moment as I am miserable with this second pregnancy.

While I am not wild and crazy for Ronnie in the sexual sense (he is really old) and would not have given him a second look if he didn't have money, there is something nice about having someone to support me and buy me things and I don't have to work. I do really "love" Ronnie in the larger sense because I feel we are together now, but I cannot tell yuo one day yuo will meet a gurl who you just cannot stand not to be around. Other things motivated me, and I think a lot of marriages are like that.

You either will or won't find a Mrs. Right Car Key Gurl. As long as yuo like what you're doing, keep doing it until something changes.

BTW, there is nothing wrong with electing to be single and getting hookers.

*claps* excellent post, Celeste.

Marraige is fairly pointless unless you just want to sit around all day with the kids while your husband works. That's the only motivation I'd have to get married.

Please, just go away...

Every man is a loser on this board... why do I bother coming here?

Very funny, but at least I am honest. Plus, should Car Key Boi find himself a lonely, childless mid-40's guy, he will have enough money to land some young hottie. By that time, he won't care if she's after money.

You're, sorry, yuo're just having a crisis because yuo've just hit the big 3-0.

Yuo'll be over it in no time.

If not then remember there's no point in getting married if yuo're not ready for it.

It's not age specific.

It hasn't, but 30 isn't old, everyday you 'meet' new people, one day it will just click with someone, and marriage isn't for everyone

Jelenadokicishot, 30 is incredibly old, and you better believe when I'm 29 and 364 days I will have my stepladder and noose out.

no no, I kid. I don't want to be 29 either!

no no, I kid. i'm sure CKB will meet somebody nice, and if he doesn't, maybe he can write a great book about his suffering. bad times breed great art.

I second that, and what's more my advice is that you wait as long as possible and discover yourself and what YOU want before anything else. Marriage and kids are not something we should rush into. Again, marriage and kids are NOT for everyone. There are so many who goes down that path when they're not really suited to it at all. That's when you see the divorces, the single parents and lengthy legal battles. It shouldn't be compulsive like just buying something.

So I suggest you think hard about it. There are too many people in the world who thinks having kids is like buying a pet. We all need to be more responsible for our actions.

i can see you being one of those lonely old men, too :)

but if you cant picture yourself getting married, you prolly shouldnt. the divorce rate is high enough... we dont need you to contribute.

and while i dont believe in soulmates and all that blah, i do think you havent met the right one yet. i think real love changes people for the better, and when you meet someone that suits you perfectly, maybe youll change your mind. maybe not... like someone above said, marriage isnt for everyone.

ugh, im getting too mushy...

if you do get married, make sure its to a younger girlie.

You will probably do what other men do who are afraid to become old fucktards. Around 40, you will be so afraid to become an old lonely fucktard that you will marry some decent younger woman, not because she is so fuckable but because she will make a good mother for your kids. It won't matter that she is not that fuckable since your testosterone level will have gone down considerably anyway. And after having fucked women in all sizes and shapes you will find sex very boring. It's what I see happen all the time.
So in the end, you will sit at home with a nagging wife and nagging kids, and since you won't get a lot of sex, you will start to eat and drink and you will develop a nice belly and a triple chin.
In the mean time, those guys who were not constantly hunting but were able to really love a woman will still have great sex with that same woman.
So my advice: enjoy your empty life while it lasts and while you still find women who want to go down on you because it's gonna go downhill someday.

Bless CKB and his mid-life crisis. Settling down... it's best done later rather than sooner. 30's fucking ancient, but if you still enjoy your life as it is, that shouldn't matter. You can always get yourself a Celeste type in twenty years' time.

I told Lyon Burke that he should settle down with a nice girl and have kids, and not to go from one broad to another, one dame to another. Otherwise, he'll end up all alone like me. One day, you will wake up and wonder, "what the hell happened?"

Broadway and showbiz do not mix with kids. Neely has been married a couple of times, but Ted Casablanca was gay and she never had any kids. Anne ended up a spinster in Lawrenceville. She has discussed adopting an Asian baby and raising it alone, but the broad could never make a decision about what hairspray to use for what shoots, so she will never really adopt, I know that. For poor Jennifer, she had an abortion after she was informed that Tony would be a vegetable in a matter of months, then she killed herself taking too many blue ones when her career in "nudies" and "art films" was to end and she could no longer pay Tony's sanitarium bills. I guess Miriam is finding a way to keep paying. All she ever eats is reheated lasagna, so I guess she saves on groceries.

I dont understand why anyone would want want to waste their time on marriage, apart from the understandable to need to apply equal rights to safeguard the dependant party in the event of a break-up.

Its not our biology that makes us pair and spend an eternity only waking up with one person for the rest of our lives; its society. Everyone should just go out and have a lot more fun, imo.

Then again, I am gay, and have very little concept of responsibility, or of living a life where I have to put someone else first. :o

As for having kids, I'd say not until you're financially secure enough to keep them in the manner you'd want to.

Key boi, I'm 35 right now.

I thought I would be married with at least 2 kids by 35. But instead, I jumped off my original carrer track (Corporate Litigator) in 97, moved out to Hollywood and started over again.

I spent the last 5 years paying my dues to the Entertainment Industry and travelling the world playing sports and enjoying myself.

There is so much great stuff to do out there that my similarly situated married friends will never do, they can't because the kids come first. When I have kids, I'll feel that way too but in the meantime just enjoy life.

Most of my friends are now on their first divorces and third careers, some with kids, some without. So just consider your career your first marriage right now and start looking for someone to "cheat on your wife" with.

Now that I've got a decent career going for me (I'm actually in danger of becoming a minor league celeb myself) I've got a whole new can of worms. I really only trust chicks I knew from before (college, law school and the struggling years) but you know LA and the ambitious chicks out here, cunning and beautiful. I just know I'm going to get played eventually, but I'll enjoy the ride.

Take it easy on the hookers and tail chasing. One of your insulters above did have a point, it will sour you on the real thing. Hard to put up with an average looking chick that you had to "work on" playing "hard to get" when you can get your fantasy girl and save the $$$ from your last 3 dates with average girl.

Guys are luckier than women on this score. The old double standard where I'm becoming richer, more powerful and "sophisticated" (yeah right) while the beauty queens I went to school with are becoming former beauty queens with "ticking biological clocks".

Take your time, enjoy your life.

Lots of unmarried guys in their 30s are happy and lots of hot single chicks are out there only looking for single successful older men.

On several levels you really are falling into the natural order of white collar professionals that don't marry right out of college.

All of that said, I really would like to meet "the one" sooner than later. I want to be able to whip my kids in sports well into their teens and not be the "old dad".

Peace.

Oh...........and remember, it's your shout, what's right for some, won't be right for others, whatever makes you happy. I've lost partners to death and being cheated on, so that has made me the person i am today, just like everyone else, there will always be reasons why people are against marriage and reasons for people who are for marriage, you really should just 'live' and let life takes it's true course.

Car Key Boi
May 21st, 2003, 06:48 PM
if yuo can't picture yourself being married to any of them, then you haven't met the one, ckb. seriously. you've met the one only after you can't imagine your life without her. then, you'll know.

it doesn't matter that you're 30. there's no age limit to finding your soul mate (unless you're worried about having children soon). when it's right, it'll be right and you'll know it. no one will have to tell you, remind you, or make you realize it. you'll just know. for now, don't worry about it. you're happy doing exactly what you're doing so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

on the other hand, there's nothing wrong with being single. it's quite possible to find someone who makes you laugh, makes good love, and is just a wonderful companion to have. this is a far better than the alternative. i've been on this board long enough to know that you love yourself. at least enough to know that you don't want to sail off into your twilight years swimming in public pools (hookers). :)

be patient for the real thing. good things come to those who wait. :wavey:

i'm not worried about having kids, or even NOT having them. it would depend on my partner and whether we both feel it's something we want, not one or the other

the same applies to actual act of getting married

it's the thought of having a SO (significant other) and the changes that brings and the commitment and responsibilty blah blah blah that scares me

i've already had one 'serious' relationship in my life that involved living together blah - she was a nice gurl and great for easy casual sex, but she would've made a terrible wife :) because she was a real drama queen and we broke up because of the 9/11 attack (this is troof, too long to get into now) but in my heart, i knew that she wasn't 'the one' even before we decided to live together

it's quite possible to find someone who makes you laugh, makes good love, and is just a wonderful companion to have

i met someone like that early this year, i really fell for her. Only problem, she lives in the Caribbean and she wouldn't want to move to the US and i don't wanna move to the Caribbean so WE=FUCKED :(

lol, it isn't a crisis just yet, i certainly don't lay awake at nite worrying about it

but as yuo get older, yuo do reach certain crossroads in yuor life that make yuo stop and think about certain issues and decisions that yuo have to make (maybe not immediately like in my case) but certainly at some point in the future

i'm sure a lot of students here are thinking about their life after HS/university/blah and wtf it is they're gonna do for a career/living, and i'm quite certain that a percentage of the yuongsters here have no fucking idea what they want or what career to pursue

that's how i feel now, i know it's time to start thinking about settling down blah, but i don't feel under any pressure to adopt a course of action or make any life changing decisions

i do question this statement thou

In the mean time, those guys who were not constantly hunting but were able to really love a woman will still have great sex with that same woman.

reason for my query is this - 99.9999 % of the married bois that i talk to tell me different. Oh they still love their wives, passionately, but at the same time they inform me that fucking the same hole for 15+ years isn't 'great sex' but rather boring....

I'm with DeuceDiva on this one. You find "the one" when you find her, and you'll be at a good age to marry/commit when you're ready to marry/commit. And you may never be, and it doesn't mean the alternative is becoming a gross, dirty old man. Significant Otherhood isn't for everyone.

shit dude, i've said before that we're of the same mode. There's no doubt about it, yuo're from Boiland!

i agree with everything yuo say
