The most exciting match would be the qualifier Maria Sharapova. That would make up from last week.

Or the main wildcard Tatiana Golovin...

i know the last person i want her to meet is patty schnyder. that would be frightening, although probably good for anna because patty would tank the match.

Svetlana Kuznetsova, so Sveta can get her ass kicked :)

Someone who she can beat!! I want her to regain her confidence and get back into the top ten. IMHO she is more talented than Dokic, Hantuchova, and Myskina.

Kournikova to meet a player she can beat first round at Roland Garros?
on the thick, slow, red european clay? .....

Tamarine Tanasugarn!

Knizzle I disagree, I think Daniela is very talented. She is slim and needs to gain some upper/side/lower body strength but when she does I think she will one day get to #1.

Anyway.. back to the subject.. I would like for her to face Jennifer Capriati. She'll face a top top high profile player because they want to use her while they can. They know she is not guaranteed for round two so they will make as much money as they can and place her with a high-profile player. Maybe Kim Clijsters or Jennifer. She already faced Venus and Serena and Justine...maybe even Lindsay.

hopefully Anna withdraws from the French Open realizing that she'd stand a much better chance of winning a match if she played the 10K that'll no doubt be taking place that same week.

I would love to see her play Fabiola Zuluaga. It´s about time that this cover girl is shown where she stands tennis-wise at the moment and the best therefore would be to meet one of the hottest girls unseeded on their best surface each.

Therefore, let her play Serna or Zuluaga on clay and a girl like Molik on grass. That should be nice defeats ;)

I´m definetly NOT ANTI-ANNA though it may sound that way. I would wish her to rest till the hardcourt season begins. Anna´s best results apart from that Wimbledon semis came on hardcourts and it does not make much sense to me if she retires from a challenger to play a GS just only for the headlines.

Anna played such great tennis in the beginning and it´s about time that she works months on her serve and on her consistency.

All Kournikova-lovers in here must agree on the fact that in recent losses to girls like Widjaja in last years USOpen or the Australian or whatever, she came on court like the favourite and like a Queen really, but when she was outplayed by her no-name opponent she behaved like a stubborn kid who showed no real interest to turn the match around.
If she goes on like this, she´ll never get mental strength to cope with strong girls that hit great shots and outplay HER as she used to outplay THEM.

Anna needs to get a strong serve to get her service games together. If big returners attack her service, she´s not able to win big matches.

Molik has a big serve, Zuluaga can outplay her. Is it for real you think she needs to play GS at the moment ? I doubt that.

Elena Dementieva, who appears inform to "delink" herself from any "Anna's understudy" role for good. :) And Sharky, what's with the zillion Anna posts of late? You're screenname is derived from a player who just turned 16 and has huge potential, etc. As stated B4, I applaud Anna's (belated) humility going the "Agassi route", but maybe like let's see if it works first? (To Anna's credit, BTW, she reportedly advised your girl not to overdo the glamour stuff).

i think resting until the hard season won't do her that much good. in retrospect of anna's performance, it seems that she needs match practice and wins under her belt to start with some confidence. the more she plays, the more likely she'll find momentum. resting will only add rust to her gameplay.

i like what she's doing right now. playing the lower-leveled tournaments and get as much wins as she can.

Well I would like her to play any of the Slovenian girls (that's the only way they will get on TV so I can see them).

Or as some previous posters mentioned, A. Stevenson (because of the car crash effect :p).

Ha, it'll measure up like it did in Australia. The scary thing about that match was that JHH wasn't even playing very well.

I want Kournikova to play any one of my faves... it'd be nice not to have to worry about them for the first round.

How sad! The only way fans of non-marquee players ranked higher (and CURRENTLY better) than Anna can get 2C their faves on TV is if its part of this poorly marketed game getting its fix of a person it has virtually turned into a drug.

Does it really matter who she meets? If she's struggling at the Piggly Wiggly Open, in Georgia, does she have much of a chance?

That is if she is even healthy enough to play. She had more bandages than a little bit.

Sharky, I want Anna to play one of the Russian girls in the first round of Roland Garros! :D She would be fired up to play the match. And on a good day she could probably still beat most of the Russian girls.

I would be very happy with a Kournikova - Dementieva or a Kournikova - Sharapova matchup! :)

But, sadly, it ain't gonna happen (sadly for Dewonder, of course).

I want her to meet Casanova or Serna in the first round. I am all about competition and don't think that one should be protected from their destiny. Everyone will say that Anna only won because she played a lower ranked player. I say I have faith in her that she will do good and prove to the world that she is good and is on a comeback trail. I think Anna is getting the raw end in the pressure department and the media following her doesn't help much and she deserves better than what she is getting right now. Seriously, would anyone have followed her on the challenger if she wasn't anna kournikova?

Allow her the time away from the spotlight to get her game back and be a competitor again. But she is still dealing with the pressure, It just doesn't end and doesn't seem to .....give the damn girl a break already. I hop she has a good showing at Roland Garros.
