I really hope that there will be no withdrawl, no injury, just some wicked tennis shots from the ultimate champion at her best. GOOD LUCK!

I hope Monica wins, but she has a VERY hard draw starting with Cappy in the 3rd, Amelia in the Qs, Serena in the Semis and Clijsters or Henin in the final.

Beat em all Monica!

No Henin, she withdrew. But still loads of other big guns for her to take out.

That true, but I think Capriati will be a major obstacle in the 3rd.

btw, Seles, I like your site!

Thanks! They're not recent...but Monica is 2-0 v. Jen on clay...both 6.2 6.2 matches. Let's hope that trend continues.

The first match came at the 1990 French Open, the second at the 1992 French Open. I don't think either have much bearing on the prospective third round match...

Monica tends to come off these injury breaks playing well, but she didn't look that great at Amelia Island. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

that's true, but u don't honestly think jenn remembers those losses that kept her out of a slam final that she never made until the comeback? i agree though, that is SOOOO long ago, but monica will play with nothing to lose but also confidence playing against jennifer. people are saying that this is monica's best surface to beat jenn on, and i think it's easy to forget that jenn and monica prefer the same surfaces and similar gamestyles.

i actually see monica taking this match, but we'll have to see how they both do...

Monica has to be considered the serious underdog. She has been out so long, and Jen has been playing well recently. And as King Lindsay said those other victories were more than ten years ago, before Hamburg, before the injuries, etc..

However, I think Monica has a chance, because she often seems to have the mental edge on Jen, or at least she knows how to play her.

Gaby won the Italian in 1991 and 1992. I am certain Monica is not a 5 time champ here. I only remember 2 titles.

I hope she does well again.
