I talked to Janette in Berlin, in order to fix a date for an off court photo shooting in Madrid, and she mentioned that MADRID will be the place, where she will start again playing singles. Therefore it might be difficult to agree a date for a shooting. Let's hope the best. I am working on a suitable date for two years now.....

I think she suffered a setback in singles due to being slighty injured in recent months. When it comes to doubles, she was "in style" IMO but it didn´t work out the way in doubles as it was in 2002.

Therefore, I think she stepped back from playing completely and then decided to return in ONE competition, maybe the one she only has to cover ONE PART of the court, a wise decision IMO

I would also tip that Husarova´s 3rd position in doubles ranking makes her a partner to team with at the French. I wouldn´t be too surprised to see her with Elena D again, maybe this skipping partners was a result of the injuries the two of them had.
It happens often enough that girls step back from playing doubles due to injury and when they are in a healing process and have already arrived at the tournament´s place they meet other girls not having a partner and agree to play the last minute. Therefore, maybe some strange draws happened in the recent past.

I wouldn´t say teaming Schnyder is too far fetched though either. Recent changes:

Hantuchova-Rubin (instead of Shaughnessy as planned at the beginning of the year)
Shaughnessy-Martinez (instead of Hantuchova)
Schett-Wartusch (Mandula/Wartusch seem to split somewhen somewhere)
Gagliardi-Mandula (both teams give away an LA chance if splitting too often)
Schnyder-Husarova (so did Patty and Babsi give it up then ?)
Morariu-Tatarkowa (will Elena be a regular partner)
Pratt-Rittner (did work well in Miami and Bol)
Vento-Widjaja (so Vento and Babsi split for Angelique)

Yep, she had a right knee injury. It's good to hear that she will start playing singles again in Madrid. :)
