I really think the WTA's schedule is messed up.

I think they should think more carefully when and where the tournaments are played.

A good example is the clay season. During Berlin and Rome, there aren't any lower tier tournaments being played, as a result, low ranked players don't really have a good option to prepare for the French Open. Only Madrid and Strasbourg a week before and for that reason those tournaments come be overcrowded.

And they have Vienna and Sopot after the French Open  what are they thinking about?

They should move Vienna and Sopot to the same weeks as Berlin and Rome, so give the lower ranked players a chance to play and win.

I agree! I was just wondering about that today, it doesn't seem fair that the lower tiered tournaments are the week before the French and it also doesn't make sense they play the other 2 after the French when the players should be preparing for Wimbledon.

I think the reason for the two lower tier tourneys are the week before is the fact that Rome and Berlin are bigger draws and everyone in the top 100 has a chance for the main draw or to play qualifying rds. I agree with you but think it's still for players ranked 150 and below to actually get some play in, considering withing three weeks you have 3 qualifying and three main draws to play. I think that is more than enough practice for any player.

They planned Brussels held the same week of Rome this year but it cancelled
