anything can happen

i think serena will be #1 and kim #2
usually #1 draws #3 and #2 draws #4...... but that's just statistics

Well, I'm fairly confident it will be #2 Clijsters. Barring a disasterous Rome, she looks good to take #2.

I am more worried for seles and capriati - to go far they'll have a tough time

Unless Clijsters does something ridiculously stupid (which HAS been known to happen, but it's really doubtful), she'll be #2 after Rome and for a while.

Most likely, it would still stay the same as if Venus were #2 - so she'd probably be in Clijster's half. That's my assumption anyway.

Things are not that simple. She does have to do really well in Berlin or in Rome to get #2 seed. With this Rome draw, if she loses tomorrow, even semis in Rome might not be enough for #2..

Really any of the seedings above could happen unless Kim wins tomorrow. I wonder if Kim knows that she is the definite #2 RG seed if she wins tomorrow? Probably not? I have no clue how closely she watches these things to be honest. 1 vs 3 or 1 vs 4 is random. There is no way to know for sure how that will turn out. Luck of the draw...

I think it'll be
Serena 1#
vs
Venus 3#
(Damnit! I want this match at finals!)

and Justine 4#
VS
Kim 2#

:p

I understand your point.

But the amount of upsets that occur with the top players are minimal. They just do not happen very often. When was the last time Kim Clijsters was upset in a tournament? Yeah, you have to think pretty far back. If she doesn't win, she needs a QF in Rome. Very likely IMO.

I think that it will be

1 Serena Williams
4 Justine Henin-Hardenne

2 Kim Clijsters
3 Venus Williams

1 Serena Williams 6-2 4-6 6-3
3 Venus Williams 6-3 6-3

3 Venus Williams 6-1 7-6(6)*

Check your math. She needs at least semis. And if she faces in quarters someone which is not Myskina or Danlidou, she needs finals in Rome, and that means beating Henin..

Monica will be drawn against Venus in round 4 or QF.

Probbaly Kim will get #2 seed and of course knowing Venus' luck in draws lately she'll land on the same half as Serena, with the Belgians on the other half.
