ugh... Maybe she should just stop playing until Wimbledon or even pre-US Open and get 100% healthy.

Sad news...

At least she won three straight matches (a walkover doesn't count as a loss!) which should boost her confidence a bit. Her ranking may be shot up a few places too.

Get well soon, Anna.

That is a wise precaution since her leg was clearly getting worse again.

Anna is just one of those players like Monica or Mary Joe whose bodies do not really tolerate a lot of hard physical training.

My sympathies to her many fans here.

I never get what I want as a tennis fan! I ws really looking forward to this match between Anna and Maria. But when I read about Anna's leg hurting again, I figured she would pull out today. I just hope Anna can stay helathy long enough to regain her form. But that is doubtful becasue she is so injury prone.

Definitely a wise move by Anna. That was the one match that you didn't want to lose due to not being 100%. Winning the championship would have been awesome and instill much needed confidence in her but by the same token a loss could have been really damaging. I just hope that it is nothing serious and she can get back onto the court in no time.

Probably not... according to my calculations, Anya gets a whopping 14.5 points for this tournament.

That's not important though... she really needs to get healthy.

Get well soon Anna :)
I don't think she'll play Charlottsville, she has to stay healthy for RG. I believe she'll come early in Paris, like Wednesday before the 1st week of the French to prepare herself with red clay.

This is really sad........Poor Anna. At least she got a few matches in and it's been a while since I've been able to say that. I hope she does play C-ville next week actually. If she does, then the injury must be fairly minor and recoverable. If not, then I just hope she's able to play at RG. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Anna!

oh well... all of us fans of her since 1997 are really used to these injuries by now...
What a fucking sad repeating history..

I just hope its not bad enough to make her skip more tournaments.

wise decision anna. she can't take the risk of aggravating the injury. i do believe this is just a precaution. in her last match, she was playing through pain but still won it so the injury could not be serious.

i'm sure she'll be playing soon. i have a feeling she will be at the next challengers.

actually this tourney shows us that anna's problem is really about matchplay and lack of confidence

the minute she got a win under a belt, she literally blitzed through the draw like she should.
