What a great afternoon. I was lucky enough to be able to watch the two Berlin semi finals on TV, with co comment of the lovely Dominique Van Roost.
It's great that both Justine and Kim won their matches but I would not even have cared too much if they lost because I saw FANTASTIC tennis. I think Kim, Jen, Justine and Amélie played awesome most of the time and their were some superb points.
Kim was awesome in the first set but during the second set Jen decided to put her teeth in Kim's skirt and did not want to let Kim go until Kim managed to eventually free herself. I have no clue how Kim managed to win this match, she probably does not know it herself.
While Kim and Jen were firing baseline rockets to each other, Amélie and Justine came often to the net and there were some crazy exchanges that will probably be entered in the study books about tennis as they contained lobs, volleys, overheads, smashs. The audience was hysterical and I have to say I was at some points screaming in front of my television. Justine was serving well and her body language showed how much confidence she has for the moment.
I love to see how these players keep improving (in the case of Justine and Kim) or come back after injury or a lesser period.
Well, I have to come off my tennis cloud now to do some shopping.

Given how the Belgian girls are going these days, i guess you are going to spend a lot of your time in 'tennis heaven ' in the near future. :)

I have a week off from work during the first week of Roland Garros. I will force myself to leave my house from time to time. :D

Wow!! Thanks for the great report, Hagar! The match between Justine and Amélie sounds like it was every bit as good as I expected it to be. Lucky you to have seen both matches! :)

You lucky dog!!! I appreciate the report.

We got really screwed up here in the US by ESPN. I hate their guts.

It's not ESPN that screwed us in the US. It's the Tennis Channel that did it. If they hadn't taken the rights to broadcast before they were actually up and running ESPN could have showed the matches.

The shocking thing is, this is THE ONLY report I have been able to find about this amazing match! Nor have I seen an interview or even a single comment from either player. :fiery: :o

Just rub it in, H. :p Still, for those of us who are "telecast challenged", it's great to at least hear about it.

What's that about Jen putting her teeth in Kim's skirt? Is that just a saying, or is it something that will be showing up on the internet in the near future? :o

It's my way of trying to explain what happens if Cap gets matchpoints against her (remember AO final 2002). She didn't do it literally but you get the feeling it might happen every second!
