Commentators always mention in a match that Venus isn't playing all the way at her best, even if she is winning pretty comfortably.
I just wonder what you guys think was the time when Venus was playing her best, or as close to 100% as she has ever played on tour????? Also if your fave isn't Vee, post your faves best match.
I think Venus played amazing in her SF against Capriati in the US 2001, at first she started off shaky but down 1-4 she picked it up to an amazing level. Jennifer wasn't even playing badly. I remember a string of like 2 games where Vee had like 5 backhand winners down the line, and they just looked so easy. "Lasers," Johnny Mac called 'em. :worship:
Also it could be during the summer of '00 for Venus. :bounce: I think her match against Lindsay in the Bank of The West classic was one of her best. Also against Monica in some summer finals and against Martina and Davey in the US. She just didn't make careless errors, and her forehand looked steady, she would mostly make errors that were close to being in when she was going for a winner. Her serve was hard and well placed. I remember in her final at the Acura with Monica she had like 5 or so second serves over 100 mph. She was just full of confidence then....... :)
