View Full Version : Magui Serna Cheering Thread

May 6th, 2003, 09:57 PM
:wavey: I don't really know what to say but I wanted to start this week's thread ;). Magui is doing really well and is currently on course to get a top 32 seeded position at the French Open. Let's hope she can continue this fine run of form she is currently in :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I wish Magui the best of luck for the rest of the tournament :worship: :worship: :worship: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Yeah! good luck for her!
But this year Roland Garros is for Cristina Torrens Valero!!!
Vamos Cristina :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Good Luck for both of them!!

Have you checked the rankings? (there's a thread on General Topics). Magüi will be still number 36, but will be 'only' 40 points away from a seed at RG.

31 Schiavone 983
32 Chladkova 983
33 Panova 980
34 Granville 965.5
35 Tanasugarn 951
36 Serna 945
37 Mikaelian 892
38 Tulyaganova 888 (still in Berlin)

I've been checking and just seeing what anyone has to defend there:

Magüi defends 25 points in Rome
Schiavone 25
Chladkova 90.5
Panova 56
Granville -
Tanasugarn 1
Mikaelian 13.50
Tulyaganova 27

So this is gonna be so exciting! (now is when someone missed Porto's points, already taken off without the tournament having been played...)

May 8th, 2003, 07:12 PM
Just calculating some things (I don't remember rankings rules, that about the 18th tournament), but just taking off next week's points the thing would be this way before Rome starts (remember Panova and Tanasugarn don't play) (none of the top 30 can have less than 1000 points after Rome, that's why I haven't included any of them in this list):

'Points' | 18th tourn.

31 Granville 965.5 | 6,25
32 Schiavone 958 | 2
33 Tanasugarn 950 | 1 (doesn't play this week)
34 Panova 924 | 1 (doesn't play this week)
35 Serna 920 | 12
36 Chladkova 892,5 | 8
37 Mikaelian 878,5 | 2
38 Tulyaganova 861 | 1

it's close, isn't it?

May 8th, 2003, 08:23 PM
Wow! So close! Let's hope for a good draw in Rome! Vamos Magüi! :D

May 9th, 2003, 09:35 AM
I´m sure Magüi will be seed in Roland Garros, she will be with the Roma´s points and the withdrawals

May 10th, 2003, 11:15 PM
Well, another tough draw, but here's hoping Magüi can manage to do enough with it to gain a seed at RG. ¡¡Vamos Magüi!! :bounce:

May 11th, 2003, 05:17 PM
Pfff, what a draw !!! First Elena...again, but we can hope that Magüi win this time!. ¡¡VAMOS!! :):)

(no Magüi in doubles this week.........)

May 11th, 2003, 06:36 PM
Good Luck Magui :bounce:

May 12th, 2003, 12:24 AM
Good luck Magui!!! ;)

May 12th, 2003, 12:06 PM
Magüi MUST win tomorrow or wait for some withdrawals... (although it won't be easy at all!). ¡¡VAMOS!! :):)

May 12th, 2003, 06:55 PM
So Magüi will play Elena tomorrow from 13 h. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 12th, 2003, 11:07 PM
Very best of luck to Magüi for tomorrow! She really *must* win this match. Vamos!! :bounce:

May 13th, 2003, 02:17 PM
Magui beat Elena 4-6,6-2,6-0

Well Done Magui, Good Luck against Daniella :D

May 13th, 2003, 02:23 PM
YEAH!!!. I'm so happy! :):). I left with 4-6, 5-2 and what a surprise when I arrived and saw it had already finished ;). ¡¡VAMOS!!

May 13th, 2003, 02:25 PM
Well done Magüi!! Best of luck in the next round! :D

May 13th, 2003, 02:32 PM
If Schiavone loses does that mean Magui will be Number 32 in the world on Monday? Schiavone is currently losing 5-3 to Matevzic :)

May 13th, 2003, 02:35 PM

2002 Hamburg Clay (O) 16 Daniela HANTUCHOVA 6-7(5) 3-6
2002 Fed Cup (WG-FR) Hard (I) R2 Daniela HANTUCHOVA 2-6 1-6

Daniela HANTUCHOVA (SVK) leads 2 : 0

May 13th, 2003, 02:51 PM
If Schiavone loses does that mean Magui will be Number 32 in the world on Monday? Schiavone is currently losing 5-3 to Matevzic :)

Hmmm, well, maths was never exactly my best subject! ;) But, just in case GO MAJA!! ;)

May 13th, 2003, 03:14 PM
If Magui gets to beat Daniela she will get tons of delicious bonus points   they should be enuff to be seeded at the French :)

May 13th, 2003, 03:42 PM
but if she is seeded 32 she should play number 1 or 2 in third round, shouldn't she? then maybe is better is she is not seeded?
Anyway congrats!tomorrow against Daniela...will be soooo hard

May 13th, 2003, 06:07 PM
Magüi is number 33 at the moment (just 2 points from 32 arghhhhhhh). She must defeat Daniela or wait for someone of the top 32 to withdraw (anyone likely to withdraw?). If she is seeded 32, she could meet 1 or 2 in the third round, but not necessarily one of them. Anyway, it would be much better if she is seeded, she would avoid a seed in the first round...

May 13th, 2003, 06:24 PM
Congrats Magüi :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

You must win Daniela :( and you will be seed :) :)

May 13th, 2003, 06:53 PM

29 Likhovtseva 1,029
30 Suarez 1,026
31 Granville 1,009.5*(19)
32 Schiavone 960

33 Serna 958*(58)
34 Tanasugarn 951
35 Panova 925
36 Chladkova 900.5
37 Mikaelian 880.5
38 Kuznetsova 867.75*(50)
39 Tulyaganova 862
40 Srebotnik 836.5

May 13th, 2003, 07:12 PM
An if she beats Hantuchova she'll have;
38 + 15 + 43 + 920 = 1016 points (I think) ;)

May 14th, 2003, 07:40 AM

2002 Hamburg Clay (O) 16 Daniela HANTUCHOVA 6-7(5) 3-6
2002 Fed Cup (WG-FR) Hard (I) R2 Daniela HANTUCHOVA 2-6 1-6

Daniela HANTUCHOVA (SVK) leads 2 : 0

Hmm, the statistics aren't to good, I still remember that second match (what a nightmare  ), but Magüi seems to be fit now, so hopefully she will at least fight to try to win this match (at 13 h). ¡¡VAMOS!! :):) (Magüi's ranking has improved a lot, let's see if she can improve it a little bit more!)

May 14th, 2003, 08:24 AM
¡¡Vamos Magüi!! Best of luck for this match!! You can do it!! ;)

May 14th, 2003, 11:41 AM
Ditto! ;)

Vamos Magüi do your best!!

May 14th, 2003, 12:07 PM
I think it'll be in a minute or so!!

May 14th, 2003, 03:22 PM
Arghh, it was close but Magüi lost

Anyway, well played!

May 14th, 2003, 03:35 PM
She had it, if only she won tie break...
Now I only hope their paths will cross again in RG:devil: that's what really counts:devil:

May 14th, 2003, 03:45 PM
I have just read Magüi's match lasted 2 hours and 37 minutes!   (now she has to rest at home ;))

May 14th, 2003, 03:46 PM
 So *close*!!! Still, not a bad result against a top 10 player. Hopefully next time they meet Magüi will win!! ;)

So, I guess now we just have to wait and see, (and hope! ;)), if anyone pulls out of RG so Magüi can get a seed!

May 14th, 2003, 03:49 PM
We can hope that someone withdraws and that Kuznetsova doesn't win her next match ;)

May 14th, 2003, 03:55 PM
lol! Yep, I'm all in favour of hoping for that too!!! ;)

May 14th, 2003, 04:36 PM
Bad luck Magüi!!!

Nos vemos en Madrid ;)

May 15th, 2003, 11:23 AM
Bad Luck Magui  But a very good try :)
Hope someone above Magui will withdraw from RG to give Magui a seeded position ;)

May 15th, 2003, 11:36 AM
Bad luck Magui yesterday, Will she now play Madrid? (Some days ago it was not confirmed...)

May 15th, 2003, 11:37 AM
I think she'll play, if she had defeated Daniela i think she would have skipped it

May 15th, 2003, 01:43 PM
Thanks Myskina! ;) Now waiting for a withdrawal ;)
