View Full Version : Nicoletta Lapentti thinking of retiring after the French Open

Nicoletta: I am seriously thinking about retiring after the French Open. Why? It's a combination of a lot of things. First, I have had no decent results since the Australian Open. I've been losing in qualifying and first round like 9 times in 10 tournaments this year and I don't feel motivated. Another that makes me want to step away is that Juliana is just playing so well at the moment that I feel that I'm in her way. Since the Ecuadorian governement only has enough money to sponsor one of us on the pro tour, I think she would perform better then me. So with that said, I thank you for being here and good luck!

"Poor Nicoleta, I can totally relate. I really hope you stay on though. You can be a great player!" - words of encouragement from Regla Torres

If I had a nickel for every player that wants to quit when the going gets rough.

Monica Gambill Nicolettas doubles partner.

'I can understand what Nicoletta is feeling.I had the same feeling last year but i stuck with it.Thanx in most part to Nicoletta and our success in doubles. If she has lost all hope then maybe retiring is a good option for her.I will miss her we have had a lot of fun over the past year and she has been a great friend.I hope if she does quite she keeps in contact'

GOOD LUCK Nicoletta!:)
