Terry and rated_next, Janette had a right knee injury (don't know the exact details), but she is in the doubles draw in Berlin, so hopefully she is healthy now and ready to play at RG. :)

Thanks Kuilli :)

Tennisfan - Amy is in $25K Sea Island this week, so obviously ready to play. Anne on the other hand might wait til she is eligible for a protected ranking before returning? I remember reading something along those lines anyway...

Eggy said on another thread that Asa is more than likely out...I heard this from a player as well...and besides, when was the last time Eggy was wrong...? This is too bad for Asa...a sweetheart of a girl. I hope she gets better soon.

So, has Mariana withdrawn?

because only Akiko and Libuse have moved to the main draw

http://wtaworld.com/showthread.php?threadid=70245

In that thread, Egg says Ondraskova is moved up to main draw as well. That would be Kremer, Svensson, Diaz-Oliva out; Ondraskova, Morigami, Prusova in. But the Diaz-Oliva/Ondraskova swap hasn't been officially confirmed.

I guess we'll just have to see how the Q draw looks tomorrow.

I think Prusova and Morigami were higher ranked than Ondraskova on April 28th ... since Libuse still hadn't lost her Bol points from last year

Hurley
May 19th, 2003, 11:14 PM
I've been looking for 4/28 rankings...anyone know of a place with archived rankings?

Anyway, Ondraskova didn't have her nice performance at Warsaw until that week, so I'm inclined to agree, and surmise that Diaz-Oliva has NOT withdrawn, and the only swaps were Kremer/Morigami and Svensson/Prusova.

Kuilli

Here are April 28 rankings for Morigami, Prusova and Ondraskova:
93 (104) MORIGAMI, AKIKO JPN 406.50 115.00 28 65.00 1.00 6.00
108 (108) PRUSOVA, LIBUSE CZE 336.50 91.00 23 .00 73.25 4.00
109 (118) ONDRASKOVA, ZUZANA CZE 336.00 104.00 22 35.00 1.00 1.00

Hurley, I do have April 28 rankings in pdf format if you still want them.

Venus hasn't withdrawn.. she is resting her stomach muscles as I think she'll compete.

It really doesnt make sense how they use the rankings of april 28, thats way too early. Ondraskova definitely deserves a main draw spot more than Prusova

Hurley
May 20th, 2003, 05:07 AM
Yes, but you have to give people an adequate chance to prepare, so you need to let them know well in advance whether they have to play qualifying or not.

Think of it this way: for next year, the commitments will be set up before Ondraskova's points from last year come off...so she'll be set up for next year. :)

Cool ! I hate Anne and Asa anyway. I hate Anne personnally because she beat Amelie-melo last year in America, and I just find Asa pathetic. Anyways she would have lost in the first round.

And BTW I would love Venus to withdraw (because I hate her) and because she would enable Amelie to be seeded 4 (And avoid Rena, Kim and Juju until semis !) ;)

Gus if you want Amélie shown respect then you must respect all the other players too. I can't stand Alexandra Stevenson but I don't go around posting bad things about her. And yes even though it would enhance Amélies chances if Venus withdrew I wouldn't wish injury on any player. With Amélie being injured so much this year I thought you might understand how frustrating it is for a great player to be missing from a Grand Slam!

Hey guys... I am not American OK, I don't do politically correct stuff. I just say what I want, when I want - and I will not tolerate your pathetic and patronizing comments.
If you hate Alex and can't say it, if you feel you have to censor your own feelings , then that's your problem... not mine.
I don't wish Venus to die, I would just prefer if she doesn't play. Ans as for Anne and Asa, I don't give a shit about them. That's it.

I'm not American either Gus but there's no point in starting an arguement just cause you want an easier draw for Amélie. I am not being unreasonable here - all I'm asking is that you show a little RESPECT to the fans in here. It's not the Gus board it's the WTA board.
And if you don't give a shit about Asa and Anne then why bother writing stuff about them???

Well said m-fan. Personally I hope Venus plays and I'd like all the other players to be healthy and play too.

Amélie is good enough to overcome whatever obstacle is put in her path and if she can't get past said obstacle, then at least she learns how to improve her game. The last thing I want to hear is Amélie only won because _______ was injured and her side of the draw was lighter. I want Amélie to beat others fair and square and my guess is that's the way she wants it too.

It's fine to have your own opinions (God knows I have mine) but what good does it do to hurt and anger your fellow posters? If you want respect you must learn to respect others. A little kindness goes a long way...

Ondraskova is not in the Q draw, so she took someone else's place. Probably Diaz-Oliva.
