May 22nd, 2003, 07:56 AM
I like Amelie a lot, she's one of my top few girls- but my husband is crazy about her! She's about the only sportperson of any sport whose results he cares about. He almost had to be restrained to avoid hitting his head on the roof when she beat Serena (and we were watching on the internet at about 2am, goodness knows what RG will be like). So this one's for him:
May 22nd, 2003, 01:56 PM
Your husband has very good taste ;)
May 22nd, 2003, 02:10 PM
Exceedingly good cakes taste! Where is YSL, BTW?! ;)
Hey Linnie, like your location! :D What will it read if Amélie wins Roland Garros? 'Over the moon'? ;)
May 22nd, 2003, 04:11 PM
ALLEZ AMÉLIE :bounce:
I bought the "Paris match" magazine, but its not Amélie on the front page. I was just  but after all.... its Amélie in it, so I'm HAPPY to have the cover!!! :D :D

 From the RG website:
Mauresmo: alarm with the blister
Whereas she had envisaged to be involved one hour on the court Philippe-Chatrier, at 11 hours this Thursday, Amélie Mauresmo has in fact last only one small fifteen minutes to tease the ball with her sparring partner. Obviously constrained in her displacements, Amélie cut short to her heating. "She suffers from a large blister to the left big toe. But it is not necessary to worry. She should be ready for the D-day ", declared, reassuring, her trainer Loïc Courteau with the TV Team. Considering the slackened air of the Frenchwoman who took time to sign a package of autographs at her exit of court, serenity seems well to be of setting at a few days of the great appointment. Recently victorious of the two Williams sisters, Venus to Warsaw and Serena in Rome, Amélie will make more than ever part of favorite with the Parisian title this year.
*A blessing on your left big toe* ;)

:bounce: Allez Amélie!!!! :bounce:
Au revoir, les Amézons!!! :wavey: I'm going to Roland Garros!!! :D :D :D
I really don't think that I'll get to see Amélie though, I'm going to the last two days of qualifying, to the Sunday 'Benny Berthet' Charity day (which Momo played in last year ;) ) and to the first day of the tourney!!! :D
Hopefully, I'll be luck enough to see Momo at the practise courts - and if I do, I'll take photos!!!! :p
But, if I get to see her or not, it still should be fun! (And if it rains, I may just head over to Musée Grevin to see Momo's *ahem* waxwork :p )
May 22nd, 2003, 09:38 PM
Au revoir Elisse!!! :wavey: Have a great time!!! :D
Make sure she takes care of that blister ;)
May 22nd, 2003, 10:17 PM
Have fun Elisse
*And we won't be telling anyone if a certain work of wax disappears and ends in a certain somones bedroom*
LOL at your post Lapin and boy does that ladies' husband have fabulous taste - she should tell him to join the Cult of Momosapia! (Then again she might never get him back)
 *And god bless Mommy and Daddy and Amélies blister AMEN*

Elisse,have great fun!!!!
May 23rd, 2003, 11:51 PM
Oh no that batch of Margarita mix was supposed to be for Amélie!
May 24th, 2003, 12:22 AM
*Dreaming of her mistress holding up the trophy.....* ;)
Interesting (but scary  ) tidbit from the RG site:
Amélie Mauresmo : N°56... Now that rings a bell!
For Amélie Mauresmo, the ghosts of her best-forgotten 2001 tournament continue to haunt two years down the road. After a strikingly similar build up to this year's vanguard clay-court tournament, she has now been drawn against N° 56 in the world, Virginie Razzano, the exact same ranking as German, Jana Kandarr, who proved the French number one's undoing 2 years ago...Which provides Mauresmo with the perfect chance to put old ghosts to rest.
May 24th, 2003, 06:17 AM
Allez Amelie !!!
May 24th, 2003, 08:48 AM
:bounce: "VAMOS" :bounce: IN ROLAND GARROS! :bounce: ............and adios old ghosts! :wavey:
May 24th, 2003, 11:26 AM
Have Momo and Virginie ever played each other before?
Anyway GO GO GO MAURESMO!!!!
May 24th, 2003, 01:57 PM
BONNE CHANCE AMELIE !!!!
May 24th, 2003, 06:11 PM
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Who Ya gonna call? Ghost Buster(Amélie Mauresmo) :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
From the France TV website (babblefished ;)):
"Le Prix Orange", rewarding the most fair-play player for the circuit and most available with the media, was awarded to Amélie Mauresmo.
(Thanks for posting the photo, maya :))
Mauresmo Favorite of the Public
Amélie Mauresmo, after having gained "Le Prix Orange" decreed by the media, seems well left to allocate the Sanex Prize of the Public. Since the beginning of the fortnight, the Frenchwoman collected 4616 votes, by the intermediary of the stand of the firm and of her Internet site. Thursday, it largely precedes the Belgian Justine Hénin-Hardenne (3158 votes). Behind, with the elbow with elbow, Monica Seles (2888 votes), and Kim Clijsters (2486 votes). Serena Williams, with 1928 votes, closes the walk of this quinté of head.
Congrats, Momo! :D
May 29th, 2003, 06:13 PM
I don't understand French, but I guessed it was something like that;
but what is the meaning of "lemon" trophy that went to Roddick? (I have a suspicion, because he is not in the picture to recieve it and because we have a similar refreshing "award" in my country ;)).
May 29th, 2003, 08:38 PM
:wavey: go go go mauresmo!!! :D Allez Amélie!!! go go momo! :hearts: bonne chance amélie! go go go mauresmo!!! :) good luck momo! :D allez amélie!!! http://18.104.22.168/s/otn/blobs/ukliam2.gif
May 29th, 2003, 11:12 PM
Hi Amézons!!! :wavey:
Yeah, sorry, I've been back a few days but I haven't had much time to post  - anyway, WOW, Roland Garros was FANTASTIC!!!!! I've had such a great time!!! :D
I don't know if anyone wants to know what happened.....but I'm gonna tell you all anyway! :p
(Advanced warning - this report does mention other players besides Momo ;) )
I spent the first two days (during the qualies) mostly watching practise sessions which was really cool! On the practise courts - Mary Pierce, so nice to see her, she looked like she was enjoying being back at RG, her fitness level wasn't as high as it should be but it was still really good to see her! Also saw - Els, Elena D, Myriam (with purple hair.....it was probably meant to be slightly plum coloured but it was actually purple! ) Francesca, James Blake (one of the only male players that I like), Dinara, Aniko, Wynne, Patty, Nadia, Corina, Gisela ;), Paola, Vivi, Maggie and Tax Garbin (who I was well thrilled to see, ah she's so sweet) I also saw Sandrine walking through the club towards the players area!!!! :)
On, sunday, the Benney Berthet Day was excellent, such good fun and I totally enjoyed it! :D This was actually the first day that the whole club opens and all the shops and freebie stands open - for anyone who hasn't really heard of 'Journée Benney Berthet', it's a day which is organised by Cédric Pioline (all credit to him :worship: ) where most of the players in the tournament take part in 'first to 9 games' exhibition matches (approx lasting about an hour), the matches are played on all of the courts and you can sit wherever you want - even in the corporate boxes on Court Phillip-Chatrier! Oh, and all money from the day goes to 6 different charities!! :)
Well, as soon as I saw that Momo was playing Nathalie on PC, of course I had to get right up to the front and in one of the corporate boxes - which I successfully managed! ;)
First on was Kim v. Jenn, then next up was Amélie :worship: By this time the stadium was getting really busy and the atmophere was starting to build up - Momo got a great reception when she entered the court, and especially when the guy hosting the event mentioned that she recently beat Serena - the crowd really cheered at that!
Well, OMG she looked so beautiful, the new outfit looked so nice on her :hearts: - I love it...........I have to admit, it looks awful in the pictures but in the flesh it looks a lovely shade of blue and the pattern isn't really that noticable - and it looked awesome against her tan!!!!!! WOW, so beautiful! :hearts:
Momo seemed to really enjoy the crowd and unlike at the Gaz de France, the audience was totally split 50/50 on who they cheered for - a couple of times Momo just stood and laughed at the cheers from the crowd and at how enthusiastic everyone was! And though these are only exhibiton matches, most of the players still really want to win......and of course Amé did and got a standing ovation, after both her and Nat gave small speeches about their first round draws and then they signed loads of autographs!!!!!!!
After that, I saw Agassi (who got beaten :o ) and by this stage the PC audience where doing non-stop mexican waves - which Andre seemed to find kinda funny! I then went over to see my other girl, Eleni play another favorite of mine Francesca on court 3 - Lena really hates playing on clay and you can see she does!!!! She looked well pi**ed off and Francesca asked her a few times if she was ok and was trying to cheer her up - FS looked so up for it, was pumping her fist when she made a great shot, even Eleni laughed at her a quite few times because she was so sweet and funny with her enthusiasm!!! :D Then I saw Marion play, and then headed over to Court 1 to see Fabrice Santoro - he really seems like such a cool guy and the French crowds love him so much!!! I ended the day watching another one of my girls......the lovely Tax Garbin! She played Zuzana Ondreskova (sp?) and though she lost, really put her all into the game, throwing herself all over the court like Boris Becker, she was so entertaining to watch!! (Go Tax!!!)
The first day of the tournament was really exciting, saw Magui, Clarisa and Yevgeny practising (and I saw Gallofa, even though I didn't get a chance to speak to her :o ) First match that I saw was Garbin v. Wheeler - Tax worked so hard for that win, ah I was really proud of her! Because I only had an annex pass, I had no chance of seeing Momo on Phillip-Chatrier so I headed to court 17, sat through a men's match and then saw my girl, Eleni, again - she had to play Pratt. Nicole spent most of the match questioning linecalls and holding up the play  Eleni was getting really pissed off at her, she (Lena) kept standing there with her hands on her hips and complained about Pratt to the umpire - I'm sure that Lena had a few words for her when they got off court!!! (Allez Eleni! :worship: ) But, at least she won, so I was well pleased!!!
After I just went for a wander around all the 'freebie' stands and got approached by a really kind Australian guy who gave me his ticket for Phillip-Chatrier, so I caught a bit of Agassi's match then headed over to court 3 for Meghann v. Kuznetsova - that was a great match and both players were really impressive!!! (And I got to see Meghann's abs!!!!! ) The last match that I saw was Daniela v. Jidkova.
(As you can guess, I didn't have enough time to make it over to Musée Grevin - so the waxwork is still safe for now! )
But, I really had the most excellent time and I've definately gotta go back again next year!!!! The tourney has such a good atmosphere and all of the people I met where so friendly and really nice!!!! :D
I doubt that I need to say this, but I did take loads of photos - hopefully they will come out alright *crosses fingers* and I'll post them when I get them back next week!!!! ;) :D
m-fan no, no, Amélie must beat Lina but not quite "kick her ass to the curb". I like Lina and therefore you must like her too by default (and be nice to her, or else)!
Sorry haven't been around the last few days but following Amélies matches religously on tele text! I do appologise for Amélies desposal of your precious Lina Sonja but you have to break a few eggs to make a French Omlette.
Wow way to go today Amélie - she picked up the bananna skin that was Fabiola Zuluaga and put it in the bin!
Good Luck against magui - another dangerous obsticle!
May 31st, 2003, 01:07 AM
Félicitations Amélie!! :D :D :D
Thanks for a great report Elisse!! ;) and thanks everyone else for all the pics! :D (BTW, the pic of Momo in the Citroen 2CV is when she went to Nike Paris; they showed a bit of it on Eurosport this week! :D )
GO GO GO MAURESMO!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
MOW DOWN MAGUI!
 Mon dieu! What's Tim Henman doing in here!!!? I know you're looking forward to Wimby Linnie, but .... ;) - Justine now...., err.... Juan Carlos now! ;) Good old webcams eh?! ;)
Just thinking about Amelie playing Serena gives me the willys....I don't have a good feeling about it,I think it will be really close, but I think "you know who" will win. :rolleyes:Amelie please prove me wrong
